But we were shit when everyone was healthy.

And literally nobody has ever argued that injuries won't affect performances. I would absolutely expect us - or any club - to have a drop off in terms of results with the injuries we have. I wouldn't expect us - or any other top 6 club - to be sat 3 points ahead of 15th place because they had injuries. Not sure why this needs to be explained to people as it seems blindingly obvious. Drop off is expected, being relegation level bad is not.

This lot by the way can also blame injuries but the reality is also that even when Odegaard and Saka were fit, they fired a blank at home to Everton, because they don't create enough from open play & have become overly focused and reliant on set pieces and dark arts to the point where they're more known for that than any kind of decent football. Instead of set pieces being an excellent string to their bow as they were before, they have become the focal point.

What makes us a top 6 club? Our wage bill is in line with Newcastle and Villa and in fact West Ham not the rest of the erstwhile Top 6. Summer business was clearly aimed at transitioning to a Brighton/Brentford model, in fact. We hired the guy Villa sacked to bring in a big hitter.

Errrr maybe finishing in the top six for 13 of the last 15 seasons? Spurs are 100% an erstwhile top six club.

Past perfomance is not indicative of future results. Expectations based on results from 2009 as opposed to current ambition of our owners to run the Brentford model and leverage PSR.

In which case let’s base it on the most recent season, 2023 - 2024. Where did we finish?

You’re right in one aspect; past results are not always indicative of future performance (although there is often correlation with the past 3-5 seasons, say). However, when you use terms like “erstwhile top six” then that implies we are discussing the traditional, results-based top six. What you allude to is a potential future top six based around a single metric: players’ wages.
