Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Might not be the most popular decision but I’d bring Rafa Benitez until the end of the season as interim. He plays crap football but would steady the ship and give us a fighting chance in the cups. In the summer land whoever the club feels is the best manager to take us forward (Iraola etc).

McKenna

Allegri

Terzic, Iraola or Frank

not a single whisper of substance in any one of those articles, unfortunately.

I hope you are right.

Trix on SC (I know I know) but fwiw, said the board are split at the moment between keep or sack. Ultimate decision with Levy obviously.

Also said the feelers are already out for a new manager.
I really don't think anyone has any ITK on what the board thinks - it would obviously be strictly confidential meetings. You'll get some people who'll say their palm, face, vocal tone readers, etc, etc and will say they picked up this that or the other from an interaction with some higher up, but the true is no one knows any of the details do they. It's just hold your nerve, find something to get your mind off this mess and wait and see! :ange-blow:

They were not so keen on helping Poch. Why the fuck would they help this Aussie cunt who was more concerned about helping Woolwich win the league last season than the fact he lost 4/5 games before it.

So if we take his league record for 2024 which is 16w 5D 16L so his points total is 53 points. So we would be 9th in the table. Poch was fired after 14 losses in a calendar year but there was some incredible bad luck in that time like the goal keeper injuring his elbow in the only battering in that period.

Brighton were the only team to score 3 goals against us. Ange Postecoglou has had his defence concede 3 or more goals 7 times in 2024 that is astonishingly bad form. Conte in his reign at Spurs with Dier and Lenglet only conceded 3 or more goals against us 7 times and Mourinho only conceded 3 or more goals 5 times. Poch conceded 3 goals in a game 11 times in the Premier League in his tenure and 7 were in his first season.

We also had something to build on after Poch’s first season. While after more than 18 months all I can see is the fear of relegation, with Postecoglou. The fact is it is almost 3 months since I have seen us win at home.

ChatGPT - please write me some fake ITK that sounds believable but is completely generalised about whether or not the spurs board will be sacking ange - consider that there is very little news out in the open about it and he is not yet sacked

ITK Update:

Hearing mixed whispers from within Spurs about Ange’s situation. While there’s no official word yet, the board is said to be carefully assessing the club’s direction under his leadership. Some higher-ups are reportedly pleased with the broader style of play and the long-term vision he’s brought, but there’s concern about recent performances and whether the team can realistically achieve its objectives this season.

One source suggests the board remains divided—some see this as a transitional phase, while others worry the current form could lead to more unrest among the fans and players if things don’t improve. A sacking isn’t imminent as of now, but the next few fixtures could be pivotal in shaping their decision.

We’ve scored a lot of goals? I thought the fact we can look pretty for short times was about the only thing anyone can say positive about Ange?
I just disagree that it's been pretty, despite a few goal gluts, I feel like we've been an awful watch this season. The neutrals enjoy us because it's chaosball and there's always likely to be a few goals, not because we are playing good football.

For it to be a compliment to Ange, it would have to be on display consistently, rather than just in flashes.

I have written the next 5 years off . I am now hoping Jan Vertonghen becomes a decent manager and he joins us and brings back the joy .

2030 Super Jan time

Thinking anything good can be achieved in the next 5 years with ENIC is now beyond me

Chat GPT - make sure to include a line about Levy too and something about available managers -

Hearing mixed whispers from within Spurs about Ange Postecoglou’s situation. While there’s no official word yet, the board is said to be carefully assessing the club’s trajectory under his leadership. Some within the hierarchy remain impressed by the style of play and the long-term vision Ange has implemented, but there’s growing concern about recent results and whether they align with the club’s ambitions for the season.

While Levy is thought to admire Ange’s philosophy, he’s also conscious of fan sentiment but he’s not yet fully convinced that now is the right time.

Another factor in play is the availability of potential replacements. There’s talk that Spurs have begun to quietly sound out a shortlist of managers, but no concrete moves have been made.

What I don't understand is if Levy isn't going to sack Ange then why isn't he backing him?
I could understand the position if we had some outfield players signed the first week of the window but the fact our only signing has been a GK speaks volumes , if your not going to sack or back him then what is the plan??

Yes I might have been expecting a couple in early. However its still true that as many as 50% of all transfers happen in last week or so of a January transfer window.

And whether its Ange or any other manager, they will still need more fit players than we have at the moment, and with Solanke now out, its not enough to hope for an early return of only Romero and Van de Ven in late January 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏

That sounds like the vast majority of articles that get written by today's journos

Hope this is true… maybe not all the candidates but that we have at least lined people up. My gut tells me it’s not true though.

A big no to McKenna and Allegri. Terzic came within a whisker of beating Bayern to the title and got to a champions league final which can’t be sniffed at so he’s definitely of interest. Frank,I’m not sure about. Tottenham is too big in my opinion for him.

Iraola is the one that i have the biggest interest in. His Bournemouth are a great watch but are also hard to beat. 22 games in and only lost 5 games. That’s incredible for a club like Bournemouth.

Could we entice Xavi or Alonso? In my opinion no chance.

I do believe Ange will still be in charge to the summer but even though I don’t like to see people lose their jobs but his time is up surely.
Iraola is the one. But even I appreciate how hard it will be to get him before the end of the season when they're clearly playing for a European place for the first time ever.
I worry we're SO bad now we have to pull the trigger ASAP which means we miss out on him. One of those times where we're destined to miss out due to bad timing. He has a bright future that one.
Strange post. With us he won 5 out of the six domestic trophies available, and got very close to the one that got away.

If he has been taken out of his actual level - and it appears that he has- then it was done by Spurs not Celtic
Winning the title up there is even less of an achievement than whatever stupid named team he won it with in Aus.
The Scottish Premiership doesn't even feature in the world wide top 20 leagues. To put it in perspective, IN the top 20 are the Belgian league, US Major League, English Championship, Danish league, Czech League, German 2nd tier, Spanish 2nd tier, Italian 2nd tier, Swiss league and the Polish league.
The Scottish Premiership is closer to the pub leagues in Aus and Japan than the PL in every respect other than geography. By bringing Postecoglu over, they gave him exposure to the British media. The fact a coma patient could win a treble in a 1 team league says it all.
But yes, we should NEVER have taken this gamble. Many fans knew it was a risky to outright reckless appointment.
