Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The difference is that Levy only makes cheap punts. Name one Elite Player we have bought in the past 5 seasons. Just one Elite Starting Player from a Top 5 club in any of the Top leagues. Every signing has been a Punt, Youngster or Bargain Bin find. I don't mind a few Youngsters to they plan to Mentor but we are Mentoring almost the whole team.
Solanke? Bentancur? Romero?

Another 19 year old. I suppose some deluded fans still believe Ange has something to do with Transfers. What's worse, he predominantly plays on the wing. We really needed a Winger more than ........ a CDM? There was a reason BM played him mostly as a sub. They have, more experienced, better players.

Shows how ambitious we are. We've bought a whole lot of youngsters (Granted with potential) from clubs who saw those youngsters as surplus. Spurs has become nothing but 'The Surplus Store.

Another Shit Transfer Window. Don't expect much change this season .

Not gonna defend Enic, but this is a strange take Gazza.

He was being sought by many clubs, and by all / many reports from reputable outlets wasn't keen on us until the call from Ange.

The Club and Ange did well here.

Porro. Kulusevski. Udogie. Vicario. Van De Ven. All signed in the last 5 years and could start for most clubs in the world imo (if they came with extra hamstrings). If you look at probably the best players in the league at the moment it was Liverpool with a punt on Mo Salah, Chelsea with a punt on Palmer, those lots centre backs were both 'punts', Gravenberg from Bayern was a punt. Our punt on Gray looks pretty good. Forrests entire team. Recruitment isn't just Mourinho buying the best player in a position in the world anymore, Man City aside.

I agree but I think 40 million for Gray was quite an aggressive purchase, but it’s far from the norm

Controversial take - leaving it too late aside and pending Tel’s performances/whether we can take up the buy option, we secured a likely starting gk for the future, a cb who actually fits our style and one of the best prospects in world football. If it all works out, we might actually regard this window in hindsight as a good one. Weird.

Yep fully agree. Credit where's it's due.

Tell you what - name me one 'elite' player any team has bought in the prem the last couple of seasons?

Who are these elite-level players you're expecting we can tempt from the likes of Real, Barca, Bayern and City?

So our last 4 January windows we have picked up

Bentancur, Kulusevski, Porro, Danjuma, Dragusin, Werner, Kinsky, Tel and Danso.

Pretty decent bar 2 IMHO -

Credit where it’s due, that’s not normal for January.

We have no idea how Danso and Tel will work out but like you said, despite being very late, you can’t fault the intent behind the window.

It’ll start flashing up on the advertisement hoardings as subliminal messaging to get people to buy more food

Key points about "option to buy" loans:
  • Choice lies with the loaning club:
The club that has the player on loan decides whether to activate the option to buy or not.

  • No obligation to sell:
The parent club is not obligated to sell the player even if the option to buy is triggered, they can still choose to not sell.
