Hincapie was very good today for Leverkusen against Bayern. Both CH were excellent as well. Very well coached pressing team, the opposite to our pressing, they do it as a unit and choked Bayern all game, should have won by two or three.

TBF, this is a pretty poor advertisement for the importance of dribbling, much to the consternation of many here at TFC.

I dunno- I see a number of talents on there I'd love to see join us- Delap and Minteh in particular I think would be great!

Our wing situation is starting to feel better though. Odobert, Tel, Moore, and Yang would be a nice corps. Johnson, Kulu, Richy and Son still exist and potentially could compliment that. I like to think we have a realistic chance of signing Tel- especially if we can get in another coach to restore confidence in the team's immediate future.

Kulu I'd try and convert to a pure CAM/second ST. Johnson, Son and Richy I would try and sell.

Barcelona really aren't the club they used to be are they.

:roseunsure:
They'll maybe somehow extricate themselves from their financial situation and become healthy again. The contract they gave to the late Messi clique were utterly insane, and they did themselves no favors signing Lewandoski on mega money. Albatross contract. Raphina seems like hes back in top gear finally. The Ferran Torres purchase appears to have been terrible also. They also should have bought a real top CB instead of Kounde, who was never going to be the CB everyone and he wanted him to be.

Basically they have money but they've spent terribly in recent seasons, and have totally effed themselves with insane contracts.

I see a list of footballers who are statistically the best in the world at a skill, dribbling, and yet none of them play for a club experiencing relative success (aside from arguably Bilbao).

That leads one to draw the conclusion that the thing these players are the best in the world at doesn't actually create success for the teams they play for, and that high volume dribbling is either detrimental towards winning football matches or is symptomatic of bad football teams.

Another Bundesliga duo on Tottenham list – All down to Daniel Levy digging deep

By Sean Lunt -

Tottenham could be gearing up for a big summer spend in the Bundesliga, with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson and Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapié on their list.

That’s according to SportBILD at least, who bring Tottenham into the mix when discussing both players today.

Fair. All I can really say is it’s possible other factors explain the phenomenon you notice in that chart- games played, minutes, weakness of team, etc.

Adeyemi, gittens, semeyeno, eze, guehi, Delap, bouanotte, mitoma. Think guehi will end up at chelsea though.

Delap is going to be some player but sadly seems Chelsea are linked with him. Could be England’s next number 9 after Kane. He will end up at a top side. Reminds me of Gykores how strong, aggressive and good at dribbling he is. There is something about him when you watch him, just good at every aspect of the game. If you are looking at gambling for the next potential Gykores/Isak/Sesko level striker who is still just about affordable he is the guy.

Gittens/Semenyo are the type of wingers we need although seems like we will be going for the younger version in Dibling.

Guehi would be an excellent addition.

Liverpool, Chelski, Man Utd and, if Saliba goes to Real M., Woolwich will all be after him.
But if Iraola do join Spurs next season there may be a slight chance for Spurs to sign him.
Huijsen and a fit van de Ven would sort out the CB positions at Spurs for the next 10 years.

Gittens mostly plays on the left and Dibling on the right but Spurs already have Son & Johnson for the left plus relatively untested Odobert, Yang and Moore....

Really depends if we stick with Ange. Son and Johnson don’t fit the Ange profile of wingers, pressing is weak, don’t take on players enough, don’t hold the width etc.

Odobert is the only guy who looks like a winger for this system. Dibling is more a fit, so is Yang and possibly Moore but they are all kids.

There was a graph years ago of the most successful dribblers per 90 in Europe and Lionel Messi was 1 and Eden Hazard was 2. If you can dribble you open space, which creates opportunity, obviously the key factor then is knowing what to do once you have completed your dribble.

The problem with having no dribblers in a team is it allows the opposition to set in defence without any disruption unless you are incredible at passing you way through teams. Look yesterday and Spence and Bergvall constantly beating their player and opening up room, you need ideally need some of that but of course the player needs to know what to do after they have completed the dribble.
