Player Kevin Danso

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Danso was fully committed to getting the ball not bracing for a shoulder charge surely.
no i know, but thats not the defenders problem is it. hes legally allowed to make contact with opposing players with his shoulder.

theres maybe ar argument for excessive force but i don't even think it is, danso is a bit of a unit, if the defender doesnt go in with some force then hes going to get steamrolled himself.

if you start giving pens for defenders shoulder barging players then its just ridiculous, might aswell make it non contact.

Utter drivel

If Danso wants to play for Spurs he is already ahead of Romero as far as I'm concerned.

What a paradox it is that an outstanding player like Spence can be ignored for 18 months, have his Spurs history re-envisioned, to fit a narrative of supposedly having a 'bad attitude' and being rehabilitated by the leadership at THFC, when a player who has displayed a continual bad attitude, towards being available to play for THFC and issues of self discipline, is lauded as being irreplaceble.

Romero is not committed to THFC and should be sold for that alone.

He has been part of a team that leaks shit goals for several seasons.

I will not miss him when he fucks off.

Top post. Bravo.

It's not about excessive force, it's the fact that he's not running towards the ball, he has no interest in the ball, he's running towards the player with the sole intention of taking him out. There is a world of difference between two players running after a ball both leaning in with their shoulders to gain an advantage, and a player running at not far off 90 degrees to the direction of the ball and opponent just to smash an opponent off his stride towards the ball. Absolutely stonewall penalty, should have been given, and would not have had the slightest impact on subsequent 'normal' shoulder challenges - it was nothing like them.

Load of crap, it was a bloody foul and a penalty. The defender was making no attempt to get the ball.Dont talk such rubbish.

he is running towards the ball, he takes one side step to engage and move danso off his path, seen it happen a million times in the box and never a pen given.

if its a pen go and get me an example of a defender shoulder barging (cleanly) and giving a pen away.

its not non contact and shoulder barges are allowed.

so by your logic of making no attempt to get the ball, if danso actually braced and barged him too, would they both have fouled each other?

go and get a clip of a pen being given because a defender has shoulder barged an opponent in the box.
Yes - if two players deliberately just ran straight into each other when the ball was going in a different direction some way away, the ref would blow and give them both a telling off for fouling each other.

For the umpteenth time, this is not just "a pen being given because a defender has shoulder barged an opponent in the box", it is wildly different to what any normal person sees as a shoulder charge - allowed charges are usually those where both players are making some attempt to get to the ball for a start. It's not easy to find an example, they are rare because players are not usually stupid enough to do what he did, but I've definitely seen examples before where a defender just charged a player completely off the ball, and it has resulted in a penalty. As it very obviously should. If you can't see the difference between a 'normal' shoulder barge and what this guy did yesterday, then I give up.

so you think 1:54 is a foul?

It's totally different, they are both chasing the ball! How can you possibly not see the huge difference between that and the Danso one! Incredible.

(EDIT: For full disclosure, as it happens, I actually think the one you posted should be a foul too, and by the wording of Law 12, it should be - but I know it's never given. However it's completely different to the Danso one, which is much more obviously a foul).

ah well there ya go then. you want a soft little non contact game where players cant even barge each other fairly. of course youd think it was a stone wall pen then.
