Many sites have linked Spurs to Branthwaite lately but I can't see Spurs spending that much on LCB - unless they sell van de Ven...

Tottenham could be involved in Jarrad Branthwaite battle

This update comes from CaughOffside, who claim that Spurs have set their sights on Jarrad Branthwaite, who is expected to be on the move from Goodison Park this summer.

However, Tottenham would have to battle Man Utd and Liverpool for the 22-year-old’s services, with the Red Devils identifying him as the man to replace Harry Maguire. Arne Slot’s men are also big admirers of the Everton academy graduate.

It is revealed that the Toffees are expected to demand a fee in excess of £70m for Branthwaite if these clubs come knocking on the door in the summer.

Monster talent. The most raw Van Dijk ingredients of a young defender around but he will be £70-80m and I can’t see us being the destination.

picked?? we didnt bid?

He "picked" the only team that made a bid.

So you believe that only one club made a bid for one of the most promising English talents in the world?

I rather believe what Wharton himself said
"I've always wanted to play in the Premier League and to play for such a big club like Crystal Palace is a great honour," Wharton said in a club statement. "The way they've brought players from the Championship and developed them into world-class players in the Premier League is something that stood out to me, and it's a big reason why I wanted to come here."

Only other possibility is if Everton want Richarlison back as he was a fans favourite there, and are happy with say £20m plus Richarlison.

Chances though are Slim ...... and he's **** town !

Clubs will usually talk to the players agent before a bid.

Palace offering Wharton a first team starting place might well sound much better than Spurs saying we want him as part of our squad (with Bissouma, Bentancur and Sarr) but he'll get plenty of playing time to stake his place in first team.

I'd have liked Wharton as he'd have been more developed than Bergvall or Gray, but am less concerned now providing we can find an upgrade for Bissouma in summer

That Crystal P. have developed players into "world class" is stretching it a bit

I think we have the makings of a very good squad... with 5 positions to address this summer.

Vicario / Kinsky / Austin

Spence / Porro --- Romero / Danso / Vuskovic --- Van de Ven / XXX / Davies --- Udogie / XXX

XXX
/ Gray

Bergvall / Sarr / Bentancur --- Maddison / Kulusevski / Donley

Tel / Johnson --- Solanke / XXX --- Son / Odobert / Moore

Sign [5]

1. LCB: We badly need a rapid, left footed CB to cover VdV (in we continue to insanely press and play a high line). I would like to see Davies see out his career with us, and transition into a player coaching role.

2. FB: Whilst Spence is possibly better on the left than he is on the right it is difficult to know whether to buy competition for Udogie or Porro. Either way we need another inverted FB.

3. DCM: We need a specialist DCM. Bentancur is an 8, and lacks positional discipline to play as a DCM. He also is an amazing presser as an 8. So I'd buy an experienced, world class DCM at the end of their career that Gray can spend a season or two learning from. Kimmich is apparently available of a free this summer. Would provide additional leadership to our spine.

4. RWF: Not sure about Tel on the right, he's better on the left - but then so are Son, Odobert and Moore. Might be an idea to pass on making him permanent and using the money to sign someone better suited to playing on the right (Mbuemo?). If not in Europe I tink we only need 2 RWFs as Kulusevski can play there, as can our LWFs in an emergency.

5. ST: Richarlison is made of glass, and we need more reliable competition for Solanke. Delap would be my choice.

Sell / Release / Do not renew [8]: Forster, Reguilon, Dragusin, Bissouma, Richarlison, Scarlett, Werner, Gil
Odobert can play both wings. Did so a lot for Burnley. The way Yang is going he might be in contention as well.

if we are losing Romero my ideal window would be

branthwaite
Wharton
Gittens

Think it will be

Some random LCB
Cardoso
Dibling

or we could have just paid the 20m Blackburn wanted as it was painfully obvious he was going to be a baller.
Thinking of other Champiomship players we could have bought cheaper than they are worth now……Grealish, Maddison…Eze. However we did get Joe Rodon.
