Unpopular opinion but I'd keep both Biss and Bentacur, but loan out Archie gray next season to another top tier team where he will start every match in midfield. Somewhere like a lazio, betis, eintracht, palace etc. With a view to then bring him back into the fold the season after. Likewise with Mikey Moore but maybe to the championship
What are you some sort of sick saboteur

What a strategy…. Keep the perennial losers and loan out what green shoots of hope we have

You were right on one point … it’s unpopular… for good reason

You do know that the central midfield is a weak point for us and has been a major reason for Spurs losing matches with Bissouma and Bentancur playing mainly - so the only question is who to replace this summer.

Crazy to want to lose matches through not replacing player(s) that need to be moved on.

Not to mention that youngsters Bergvall and Gray are two of our best performing players at the moment, and Moore has been fantastic considering he's only aged 17 with normal physical development required, which will come naturally - and his end product already better than an experienced player such as Werner. Likely to remain with first team next season getting more minutes with a real break out season the season after

Unpopular... fuck me... Putin wandering around Kiev throwing candy from a basket would be more popular...

Worth remembering that we started the season with a couple of key players injured but as late as early November when we beat Villa 4-1 we were 3 points off 3rd place in PL.

Since then we've gone from having 5 players out injured to having more like 10 or even 12 players out injured recently, which in turn means we've been running the remaining fit players into the ground as we've had no options other than to play them every mid week and weekend.

The good news is that we brought in 2 permanent transfers in January (Danso and Kinsky) who filled holes in the squad and look good, have proved Austin is a decent 3rd GK to add depth plus have Tel on a 'try before you buy loan' whilst both summer recruits Gray and Bergvall now look to be two of our most reliable players, Odobert shows real potential now he's fit and Solanke is a real lynch pin of the side with his pressing as well as goal involvements. And the rehabilitation of Spence has gone like a dream.

So we go into this years transfer window a lot lot stronger than 12 months ago (4 recruits last summer plus January 2 players plus Spence and Austin - so arguably 8 players or a third of the squad) with more players and more depth to the squad than 12 months ago. Plus we have a lot of youth in that 18 - 21 group who we might want to use next season or season after.

Of course there are still issues to be dealt with - whether its the Bissouma/Bentancur dilemma, Richarlison or whoever else is any posters particular gripe, not to mention constant rumours we might lose Romero and/or Porro. And I doubt we will find all the players we would ideally like to.

But don't forget we now have the spine of a decent level squad - far fewer problems than ManU for example, and that really is something to be thankful for.

It seems that way to some maybe, but quality wise no not at all. The shape of the team doesn’t look right and there’s big gaps to exploit when we lose the ball. Gaps down the channels especially. If you’re expecting midfielders to come in and eat up those gaps carrying on the way we’re playing, well frankly you not going to see it, I don’t care who we sign.

Take away how we’re playing and how many players get ahead of the ball that leaves us exposed Football ability and depth wise we are weaker at the back and definitely in the front third

Its not feasible to buy all the top player we might want - the reality is they are NOT available to buy, especially when so many clubs have lots of cash

So don't get sucked into the myth that we could buy everyone we want by spending more. Not even Madrid or Barcelona have been able to

And our squad is now a LOT stronger than we were last season or season before.

What we have done is to buy a number of decent level players (Danso might be a good example) plus also a number of younger players who we expect to become close to top class (eg Bergvall).

So atm, we now have a full squad of players of 'ok' quality - something we didn't have last season - and can improve from there. And some of the younger players will continue to improve and may well become top class.

Gray who has been arguably in our top 3 players this season. Yeah I imagine that is an unpopular opinion…

Watching him now, and for me, Baleba from Brighton is the dream 6.

would cost 80-100M but tbh the level of upgrade would be insane.

Wonderful player.

okay, was only arguing your point about central midfield being a weak spot for us and the major reason why we’re losing matches. Quality wise I don’t believe it is. The shape and numbers caught ahead of the ball are causing the whole team problems. Selling Bentancur/Bissouma and buying someone else, play the same way and expect something different is wishful thinking.

Spurs are playing a very attacking game of football - the basic rationale for that is we can/should score more than other teams and as a consequence have less resource in defence which is bound to hsve the consequences you describe

The point I am making re Bissouma is a lack of concentration so he is not as effective as he should be. And Bentancur is not as good as he was pre injury.

So if we upgrade Bissouma we will not let as many attacks through as currently - whether its with Ange's system or anyone else system.

But that's a very different point to your original post where you were erroneously doubting the improvement in our squad since 12 months ago both in depth but also some quality with the likes of Bergvall now a big plus in quality.

Also slashed the wage bill from two years ago so should be able to go big for 3 top players and still have a low wage bill.

The number of top players available and number of top clubs around with lots of money means getting even one top player in would be be a great result.

That's reality. Sadly.

That I think is why we want to grab the best youngsters with potential to be top players, where finished articles are not available (eg we wanted to get Raphina, as did Chelsea and Woolwich after us but he only had eyes for Barcelona )

Great post
If anything good came out of the injury crisis it is that Austin showed he is a more than capable option.
He loves Spurs and is content with his role. Couldn't ask for more.
Kinsky is better suited to Angeball, though. But will he be content on the bench?
