Do you know the funniest thing... after his 'no one likes us' media rant on Wednesday, it dawned on me that Ange IS simply the equivalent of a Fan winning a prize to get the managers job for a season... a FANAGER if you will!

Let's be honest, despite what many think about their own ability to do a better job, had ANY of us got the Spurs managers job this season, we'd probably be achieving similar results, and having to resort to conspiracy theories, woe is me storylines, and clichéd David Brent-esque motivational quotes to try and sound like we know what we're talking about whilst in fact we're floundering!

Amge genuinely IS just one of us!

You clearly haven’t been following my Fifa games , top of the league having scored 276 goals

It's the fine margins isn't it, 100mm lower on both occasions and without 2 fantastic saves and it would have been 5-1. Not sure what Ange could have done differently to change those margins.

However, then the rhetoric would of course been that 'It's only Frankfurt, we'd have lost if they were a decent team'.

With the substitutions, it was kind of a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't situation for him'
He clearly delayed to try and maintain momentum, but then has tired legs on the field, but if he'd subbed earlier it could have killed our momentum.

Unfortunately for him, there's no pity left in the bank.

Yeah mate if we literally scored almost every time we had a shot on target it could have been 5-1. I hate when fans say this shit. If Frankfurt had made some better final third decisions they could’ve scored 4.

We had 1.3 xG. We were definitely firmly the better side (as we should be, it was the home leg and we possess very obviously better players) but the idea we ‘should’ have scored x amount of goals is dumb.

We needed to win, we didn’t. It’s not a particular game I’ll blame Ange for but in the grand scheme of things it’s yet another disappointing result and now we have to win away.

There’s no pity for very valid reasons. And ‘it’s only Frankfurt’ isn’t rhetoric either - they’re a decent team but a side we should expect to beat at home in Europe. They didn’t play well. They don’t have that much talent and they’re bang out of form.

Nah not dumb at all when you hit the bar twice, goalie pulls off two worldies and VDV misses a sitter.

I’ll never understand the dumb fan obsession with hitting the woodwork and thinking that means you ‘should’ score.

The goalkeeper pulled off a couple of decent saves and yes, van de ven missed a good chance. For us to win 4 or 5-1 we would have been exceptionally clinical with what we actually created.

I agree with everything you say. My point was more that people are blaming Ange for the sake of blaming Ange.
We created a multitude of very good chances, it's then up to the skill of the players, and a bit of luck to turn those chances into goals.
I'm Ange out, and his tactical system of play over the season has been atrocious. However last night we actually played well enough to take a decent lead into the away fixture. Whether it was the football gods, or their keeper, it's unfortunate that it didn't happen. But as you say, it's not a failure that we can really point the blame at Ange for.

The enigma is whether we played well because they played badly, or they played badly because we played well.

Agreed… everyone is so god dam depressing even when we played well very well and create chance after chance but it’s obviously anges fault the players miss chances….

To quote Mr Josep "Pep" Guardiola esq: "My job is to get you to the final third. Yours is to finish".

( and before anyone goes there, NO I was NOT comparing Guardiola with Postecoglou"..

This is an intresting bit of revisionism. Because I can name the very many people here who saw through his crap. Who understood the man did not understand tactical periodisation, in game management, timing of substitutes and were horrified by the frauds squad building and man management. So the idea he is reflective of any and all fans is bogus. He is the God king of stupid people who could hear him chat utter shit in pressers and nod along like lemmings. He might do better than them but don't kid yourself some of us would do way better than this.

It's clear that he's 'checked out' of being at Spurs.

GET RID NOW.

We're better off without his miserable chops bringing everyone down.

3-1 would have been about right for last night.

Bergvall's effort to hit the post would have been a worldie so can't really count as "should have scored"

Bentancur's header was also a tough chance that he did well and got unlucky to hit the frame but not really "should have scored"

Between Son's chance that was saved and Brennan's chance that he skied, we really should have scored at least one and VDV's chance at the end was a miracle for Frankfurt that didn't go in.

Maddison's chance was a good one as well.

I understand the sentiment, but I highly, highly doubt anyone on this forum has anywhere near what it takes to manage an EPL team, even if it's just to be better than Ange.
Remember if you're doing better than Ange, then you're doing better than Moyes and Potter, and as good as Amorim, all seasoned managers.

The pressure these managers work under is some of the toughest in the world outside of certain military roles.

Being able to analyse tactics with the benefit of hindsight and getting Stevenage Borough into the Champions League in FM2024 doesn't mean you'll do a better job than Ange!

Yes the job is Pressure (But not a worry about money) that's why you have a backup team of coaches etc to help, BUT if you don't use those folks its even more pressure ( and this guy clearly doesn't use the staff)
Surely Ange knows he can't make in game changes so get a coach that CAN and use him, BUT NO Ange is just too fixed in his way

agree, on another night son, vdv and Johnson bury those chances. should've been a 4-1 result. alas we will have to do it the hard way now.
Wonder how frankfurt will go about it next leg after that 45 min pounding, ange seemed to suggest they wont change their approach which i dont think is true

They have been struggling at home and often do much better when they can sit in then hit on the counter.

From post-match presser:

That's something we work on, getting into those areas in the box in terms of the half-spaces. Madders we know is really creative and obviously Dom was the one who received it, so there was a gap there at the near post. We've always said that we need the next person in line to attack that area and Pedro happened to be that and it was an outstanding finish. If you look at it, Brennan is where he's meant to be, at the far post if the ball goes through, and Lucas on the edge of the box. It was a well worked goal and I think one we deserved,

It seems that there is some coaching after all.

We are so far away from being a top club with the right mentality . Even if u look at PSG the other night , they wanted a 3rd and kept going for it , played a high press till the end . We needed to take a lead to Germany , did u see the players at the end , they looked like they had lost the tie , completely broken the lot of them . It’s such a weak football club from top to bottom , we played an average team last night in our biggest game of the season and I’d say we turned up for 35 minutes of it . When we had the momentum we needed to go for the jugular , that’s what top teams do , some fans are happy we ‘had a go’ second half .
