Player Cristian Romero

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

You are giving Levy way more credit than he deserves. He might be a shrewd investor but he's a fucking disaster when it comes to Comms, PR, Marketing etc.
I said he was all over it, I didn't say he was any good at it. But the man isn't stupid, plus everything he does is calculated, every decision is made only after they’ve evaluated its impact on the business & revenue.

So in my mind, if Levy signed off on that interview, it's cause he thinks that somehow it'll help him make money one way or another. But yeah, entirely plausible that it's just because he's a useless cunt that got mugged off by yet another Argie.

Yeah, Romero wants out...
and the CLUB'S ROLE is to get the best price for him...

It's a blatant sales pitch marketing ploy, no WONDER the club had a hand in it!

Romero is exactly the profile of player we/HE likes...
Buy for a fee.... Wait till he sees us for what we really are and wants out...

Sell for an even BIGGER fee!
We're just letting Romero do the marketing FOR us! Probably saves on fees somewhere down the line!

VDV, Udogie & Vicario will be next no doubt
... It's who we are Gringo!
I've been spending a fair bit of time in Italy of late, mainly on business but also cause I just bloody love that country and watching Serie A or even Serie B live. Spoken with a few tifosi and when they heard I was Spurs, the vast majority told me Vicario is off at the end of the season. They reckon Inter is No 1, then it's between Juve and Napoli, with AC also a possibility if they move on from Maignan (too fragile and makes too many errors). Obviously it's just fan talk, but I gotta say I agree with them and I genuinely believe Vic will throw his toys out the pram til he's allowed to leave. Gimme 30-35 mil and I'm taking him to the airport mysemyself.

Think VdV will act a twat too. His attitude been way off recently plus the kid/his agent thinks he's good enough to start for a proper big club. Wouldn't be surprised to see him kick off and agitate for a move to Liverpool to partner with Virgil.

Levy will offer Udogie a sick new deal to keep him at Spurs...which would be a terrible idea cause no way he deserves a payrise.

Think people at big clubs know why he's playing shit. They also know what his true ceiling is and that his game has quite a few holes...but a manager like Simeone especially will back himself to turn Romero into a genuine world class defender.

Comments like the ones he's just made will take a few mil of his value, sure...but we ain't talking about a gigantic drop. And again, I trust Levy when it comes to playing hardball and getting a decent deal. Personally, someone offers me north of 50 mil for that prick, I'm getting down on my knees to show my appreciation.

In the end I reckon it'll get done round the 60-65 mark with a chunk of that in perf-related bonuses, based on number of apps etc.

Can't wait to see the back of him. Never liked or rated the mug. Only won the WC cause Qatar gift-wrapped it to Messi. Defo one of the Spurs players I despise the most all eras combined. Overrated, wannabe tough guy.

I was with you until you sent it full on irrational hatred.

That interview has burnt some bridges for me but it’s no different to what Kane did with Neville.

The system is a joke and the CBs are exposed but our other CBs have looked no worse than our "world class" Romero.
I never said Romero was shit I just think he is overrated.
He is not particularly quick, he's not particularly big or strong, he loses his man and concentration regularly, moments lacking self-discipline and now he is disinterested and disrespecting the club and the fans with his latest interview.
If the palace defender you are referring to is Guehi?
Yes 100% he is a better defender than Romero imo, not as flashy or skillful on the ball but a better more reliable defender
If Palace would do a straight swap on form purely club form over the last two seasons...I swap him for Guehi in a heartbeat
Now that's Crystal fucking Palace we're talking about.

What about for Saliba, Gabriel, Van Dyke, too easy now it's getting more worrying because Huijsen, Van Hecke, and Fabian Schar, are beginning to press him in terms of their league form. I don't care what Messi says. If Scaloni could change the nationality of the players above he'd take them over Cuti.

Spurs fans big flaw and has been for sometime is over rating their own players. We don't have any world class players right now. Kane is gone and Sons legs have gone. We are talking world eleven players because none of our squad would get in a world 11 or on the bench. Romero included.

You're getting offended cause I made a ref to the WC, the one thing Cuti-lovers hate to see used against him cause that's how they put him in the world class bracket.

What's funny is that there are a fair few Argies out there who openly admit they got 'lucky' in that tournament. Let's just remind ourselves they'd lost the opener to Saudi Arabia and that Messi (who was at PSG at the time) scored 5 pens - more than any other player in WC history.

Anyway, fuck Romero and let's just hope he leaves for as much dosh as possible. I fully trust big Kev to do a better job for us and become a fan favourite.

On Romero and his 'value' he definitely has switched off which will be deemed as mitigation in how other big teams judge him. I think the Ange effect IS understood. I noted and pointed out the comments the Romanian national team boss made regards our tactical set in an interview about Dragusin. He basically laughed at us publicly. That said Romero is a classic tournament player. If he goes Athletico let's see if his reputation is actually enhanced. I bet over the long term he isn't this massive success.

The Angeball Joke is well known. It's why Romero will get a big club move and it's also why Levy will NOT be risking his future income streams the young players ( Moore, Adjay, Bergvall) on another ambitious punt. We won't be getting the Bodo coach, or Stil. I think we'll end up with either Iraola or more likely Frank.

I’m not offended mate, it was just a bit dramatic

Argentina has lost like 3 matches in the last 6 years. To act like they were somehow lucky to win the WC… laughable.

Danso will be no where near as good as Romero. Romero hasn’t suddenly become a bad player. He’s a born winner who is surrounded by chaos and uncertainty. Call him whatever you want but he will join the list of elite players who have left this club and gone on to win titles.

Danso always looks awkward to me and not a patch on the smooth but erratic Romero?

Are you watching the same player as me smooth. He's not Malt whisky mate. He can't mark gets beaten in the air repeatedly and has made the most direct errors that led to goals of any centerback in the EPL. In some countries he's legally married to Liam Delap who brided him... Stop looking at the forward passes and start looking at his actual defending for the love gad!!!

Probably.

Still a cunt who I can't wait to see the back of. I don't care what he does in the future - I don't want to see his ugly face at Spurs ever again.

Yes that is true. No one would get in a World XI team or even on the bench. VdV probably closest if his legs could work for a change

The big problem which doesn’t seem to get acknowledged is there’s no pressure on the ball from crosses. most CBs are going to struggle. Players can time their runs. The wide player can get any angle on a cross they want. As a CB you need and have to try to hold a line so just like it’s hard to play offside if there’s no pressure on the ball in midfield. You can easily get caught flat footed by movement

Danso had the same when he’s played. I remember the ball and man going in between him and Davies think it was and hey were caught flat footed. He just hasn’t had as many games. Grey was caught all over the place when he was at CB but people obviously wanted to cut him slack so didn’t acknowledge it.

Not going to say Romero’s been good, he hasn’t on the whole because moments in games count for a lot and it looks bad that he’s being caught out but there’s reasons for it and outside of those moments the quality in everything else between him Danso and others is big imo.
