I am not disagreeing with you Matt - I am merely pointing out that your expectations are not aligned with our owners.
My expectations are nowhere near what some are. I just want better than this idiot.
We have been better in every single season for 20 years including one under this idiot.

Anyone saying they're happy finishing 17th and winning a cup can't go to many home games if they're happy losing this often.

There are a small number (three or four) die-hard Ange-first, non-Spurs fans on this forum. They crawled out of the bin after EF, but have since scuttled away again (post back to back defeats in the PL). One of their "lines to take" is "it's all about trophies". In other words the peak Poch year was no better than 2024-25. Utter drivel, and of course many of their other posts contradict this stance. It's a little perverts' club
It's the actual Spurs fans who admit Ange is shit, but refuse to entertain the idea of an Iraola, Frank, Silva because they're not good enough to win us the league.
So fucking what? They'll all get us a comfortable top half, likely top 6. Way better than being propped up by the bottom 3.

I'm not happy with it, but I'd certainly take it, as a cup is important. As long as we jettison the lardy cunt from down under.

Trying to figure it out but think under levy and sugar weve seen 5 or 6 title winning celebrations when weve played teams. That includes the gooners as well on pur own patch. No wonder players want to leave. They want a piece of that. Levy out.
Maybe the very same players should make an effort when they play? Pass to one of their own team? Make a tackle or two? Then they might get what they want.

As it is, if any of the present squad want to leave, I’ll carry them to their destination on a fucking sedan chair. They’ll all get title celebrations, but it’ll be for the likes of the Cypriot league.

We all know Ange needs to be replaced. We all think he's gone whenever the EL campaign is over (irrespective of whether we win it or not). Most of us know that Levy is realthe person to blame, and until he leaves we're going to be in a repeat cycle of failure and under achievement.

It feels to me like some of the fans don't see the point replacing Ange unless the replacement can, and possibly will, win us the league.
Why are fans so binary?
There are 20 teams in the PL, why is it all or nothing? We're not a real life Amazon Documentary. If you can't finish first, aim for 2nd, if not 2nd, aim for 3rd.
don't just finished 17th, shrug your shoulders and say "meh, we weren't gonna win the league anyway"

We fans pay to go to games week after week. We want to see a team capable of winning more than we lose.
Each to their own but i've never understood the trophies are the only thing that matters point of view. 95% of all club fans are going to be miserable if thats all the matters. I want to see a competitive side across all competitions that you enjoy watching where your looking forward to the next game.

Most of my favourite seasons we've won cock all, 84/5, 86/7, 09/10, 16/17 were all entertaining from start to finish. When we won the league cup under Graham it was all as boring as fuck. Ramos was shite and won a trophy. We should win more, even by law of averages but a trophy doesnt excuse a season like this and doesnt make a bad manager or team any good.

Very eloquently put.
Most teams win nothing at all.

Palace in the FA Cup final this season.
This is their 3rd final. Never won one.
Never win a league title (top division)
Never win a league cup.
Obviously never won a European cup of any kind.

If winning cups is all that matters, why do they pretty much always have a full stadium and loyal fans?

Villa - 1 post war title, 44 years ago. 1 post war FA Cup. 68 years ago. 5 league cups since WWii. Last one 29 years ago.
Relegated from the Premier League not long ago.
Still have an army of fans.

Fulham.
Bournemouth.
Newcastle until this season.
Spam until a few seasons ago.

Plenty of Premier League teams will absolutely fuck all most of their time.

Sadly went too soon as he was carving out a nice managerial career for himself. Was he the best left back in football? Even he would admit he wasn't but he was all in on every game and the fact he wanted to punch Robbie Savage but restrained and still got red carded... and we still won... puts him up there as a cult hero of mine... even if I cursed him a few times when opposing right winger left him on his backside...

Didn’t he have a spat with Roy Keane in the cup final ?

I agree I am sick of travelling to WHL every few weeks just to watch the drivel we see every week and I live in Enfield. I cannot understand how anyone with more than an hours journey could have been bothered to go to our last home match against Forest. Going to watch Spurs at the moment is soul destroying and cost more than ever.

Tbh I think maddison has a long time ago. Did read somewhere a while back him and ange had a bust up. Unconfirmed. Tbh I just think players are being professional. Our manager is like basil fawlty. Clueless.
Basil Fawlty were in total control mate!!

fawlty towers funny walk GIF

Cant believe how shit our manager is. If we win europa takes 50 per cent off pain atm. But I still want Ange out. Even if media make him some kind of darling as he won us a trophy. Hes gone beyond the point of no return imo.
Honestly there's some managers that I've hated but respected, like Redknapp, or not respected but actually liked, like AVB.

I don't like or respect Ange.

Sorry Matt, I feel like I am disagreeing with you a lot today which is not the intention. I will reign myself in after this one... but look this club was built on the mantra "It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. At Spurs we set our sights very high, so that even failure will have in it an echo of glory." - that's what this club is about... we've gone from Mourinho, Conte to Ange and what is likely to be manager adapt and getting his team into the top half of the table. Although for the record Frank has only finished top half once in three completed seasons (9th in 22-23) and probably won't make top half this season. Is that what you want? I don't prescribe to the comment "well anything is better than Ange" by that token we should put Mason in charge. So I don't mind people refusing to entertain Iraola, Frank and Silva because those are the fans (like myself) who refuse to accept top half of the Premier League as the height of our ambition. With our revenue, resources, stadium and facilities we should be aiming to challenge for the league every fucking season. The fact we aren't is embarrassing.

Most Premier League teams win fuck all but every single one of those fans that keep going week in week out believe they can do a Leicester or even a Forest this season if the cards full their way. And that's the difference... I doubt any Spurs fans under this owner think we will win anything. It's not in our DNA since ENIC took over. Granted we didn't win much before them but we certainly won more. We must avoid normalising success as a top six finish. It isn't... it's BS Kool-aid that Levy / ENIC want you to drink... we should be challenging for the title and other domestic trophies every season and I have yet to hear any argument as to WHY we shouldn't that doesn't involve penny pinching ownership more interested in balance sheets than team sheets.

AVB was just big words and wore a suit. He thought that was enough. Tbh I hated francis, conte and Mourinho. Francis nearly turned us into QPR, conte thought he was doing us a favour and high maintenance. Mourinho just bored the shit out of me. Always a soundbite with him as well. Trouble.

Simple truth is, the club doesn't or isn't aiming for the top, as long as it continues to pull in 60k plus and sells pints and pies it's job done.
