Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

As Shadydan Shadydan said, I can’t believe that’s the issue. We’ve lost millions on our league placings, so it would have to be a pretty hearty contract break fee to make it worthwhile. One I just don’t see Ange having.

I think it’s more that Levy has seemingly tried everything to make the club a success and has failed at every turn. The only two things he hasn’t tried is spending more on fees and wages than anyone else (never happening), or giving a manager, any manager, multiple seasons to get things right. Maybe this is him giving option two a try?
tbf, he hasn't spent as much on wages as the rivals that season after season compete for the league. It's just possible that the genius Levy is wrong after all on this. That Leicester, and even the peak Poch years were an incredibly hard to repeat aberration, and that his best value-maximising strategy might actually be to spend 50% more on wages and get the 4-5 elite players that would bring. Fuck knows, Levy has so got so much else wrong, that mis-judging this critical balance of cost-base / value would not surprise me. It is a risk yes, but potentially brings significant upside in value.

There’s a third thing he hasn’t tried.

Relegation.

Maybe that’s the plan?

But then that’s just spending more money than anyone else. He’s not going to do that. I’d say his long term plan is hoping that FFP bites harder and harder in the coming years, putting us in a strong position financially. We’d also have a team of early to mid twenties stars in a few seasons that would be, by then, good enough and experienced enough to take advantage. I’d say that’s the hope. Add to this a manager who, no matter his shortcomings, is different to who we’ve tried before and Levy has his project building plan all in place, to save him having to spend all the money.

Ange wont be here if EL is won! No way no how.

He leaves clubs after two years. Probably senses the magic dust wearing off. It has served him extremely well. Look where he is for fuck sake.

If Spurs win this thing this bloke has a narrative that writes itself. Added to a European trophy (fingers crossed) he has two years at a top six club. This guy has lucked into good future gigs to see out the decade.

Why would he ruin it by staying in a job he'll be under scrutiny and the pump from seasons off. He is a lot of things ole Ange, and a dummie isn't one of those things. Again look where he actually is.

The crazy pressers aren't for the benefit of Spurs supporters. They are for the benefit of future employment prospects. And that's the reason I know this bloke is off in a flash as soon (fingers crossed) that cup is lifted.

A lot of extremely good coaches go through entire careers coming no where near a premier league job. That's not including with a big six club. Ange has got there. The guy didn't just fall into it. He knows better than most to strike while the iron is hot.

100 per cent will be gone. I think a very good chance announcement made before the final ( ringers crossed) .

Kept him on and sack him 3 months into the season?

‘ KEEP HIM UNTIL THE SUMMER ‘

They were a EL SF opponent that just beat Lazio. Also beat Porto this season and scored twice at OT.

DIdn't understand the team selection at all but it made sense once you saw the way we played first half.

There was definitely a plan, first half an hour or so especially every time Richy received the ball he was looking to cut in and cross toward the back post, likewise Porro on the opposite side. I think it was clear we were looking for balls into the box and to attack the back post.

It was a good tactic that most of us (including myself) questioned when we saw the teams. We were ready to jump on him! I'd have started Tel and Kulusevski over Richarlison and Bissouma. I was wrong. Ange got the team right!

Lol "EL SF opponent" as if this is some barometer of quality. Give me a break. Rangers were a EL FINAL opponent not long ago.

They had 6 starting players missing, and Lazio didn't lose to them at home. They lost to them on the shitty artificial pitch, at home they ran through them ... and if Lazio are our barometer of quality (7th in a poor Serie A) we really are reaching. The team we just played have a total wage budget lower than Son's yearly wage.

The mid tier of Europe is just poor compared to the mid tier in England. United just spanked Bilbao 3-0 away. Bodo can spring some surprises now and again but that's it, in a league season in England they'd struggle to be mid-table in the championship.

You could have started almost any combination of our incredibly well paid and highly valued premier league footballers against the Norwegian league side and won. Acting like Ange nailed team selection is hilarious. Well done him for playing a 60m striker against Bodo!!!

Today's result was nothing to do with Ange. It was a very low quality team against a premier league team. They didn't have the quality or the athleticism to compete in key areas, so they lost. Amazing how people see what they want to see. If you watched that game and saw anything other than a team out of their depth you have blinkers on.
