Your mindset implies there's not a finite supply of such players.

Unless you're seen as a viable big trophy route; elite players (with elite mentalities) won't come... Not for the sake of an extra 10-20kpw.


As per the 'highest paid' list you posted.... Most of those aren't elite.

I think we're in a totally different place right now to when we signed Ndombele, so people are more open to the idea of a maverick wanker. Right now I'd happily take Kanye West in midfield if he could do the odd Cruyff turn and bang in a rabona every couple of years.

Also think the expected finances are a lot less catastrophic to the club if it doesn't pan out.

Tbh got vibe they wouldn't let him go last summer as olise went to Bayern. They wouldn't let two of their best players leave in one summer. Think we might get eze. If we win europa it's nailed on. Guehi imo is nailed on to go to Chelsea.

Not sure about Huddlestone (he was on loan at wolves as a 19 year old and made just 13 appearances).

Lennon too was in his first season and not the player he would become.

It would be like looking back at Gray if he has a good career and pretending that he was that good in the 24/25 season.

The others would all be in the team for sure.

King would be perfect rotation with our other centrebacks who only play half the season.

Crazy how players can decline. Biggest drop I have seen watching Spurs was Toby. Think he went a whole season without being dribbled passed, was the 1v1 king, didn’t matter the forward Toby would kill them then one season his pace disappears overnight and he looked like he is running in custard, didn’t lose a yard of pace, lost 5 yards of pace.
