I don't think he'll stay even then, if we do not string at least three wins together out of the final games. There's a bit (maybe posted already)Guardian about sides being wary of the Ten Hag mistake.

UTD's mistakes with Ten Hag were the transfers more than anything IMO.

They might be higher up the table if they hadn't fired him, Amorim hasn't made them any better because the squad is such a mess.

As long as we stick to the same plan with the squad build and don't get sidetracked into long committments on aging players, then finding a coach to work with this squad would't be as hard for us as it was for UTD after Ten Hag.

You can’t seriously be comparing Woolwich’s “injury crisis” to ours? We had like 7/8 first teams out at the same time for2-3 months together with 3-4 backups.

Woolwich have not had an injury crisis this season. They just haven’t had any injuries whatsoever for the previous 2 seasons and are this year sustaining what other clubs go through normally and are calling it a crisis.
Definitely agree on the magnitude of the situation. Spurs injury problems have been far worse than Woolwich's in numbers. Their issue has been the loss of Saka and Odegaard (for long periods) who are massively important players for them.

But we're talking about different ends of the table. Missing players of that quality means a hell of a lot at the very top. Mind you, Spurs missing more quality players is exactly what has kept Spurs out of the Euro places.

My point was more about Ange finding a way to bow out gracefully because, whatever happens, I can't see him still in charge next year.

It's baffling how this is even a question. The bloke won't be here next season.
I hope you are right, but who knows what Levy and the board will do if Spurs win Europa? There will be a strong media narrative something along the lines of, "Spurs fans get what they want (trophy, attacking football) and still aren't satisfied coupled with injuries/young squad. The consensus on this board is definitely Ange out but it's the fans who show up to matches who will be the most influential. They aren't happy, but I don't get the sense they are adamant about moving on from Postecoglou.

I still remember fans calling for Alex Fergerson to be sacked after taking United from 2nd in his first season, to subsequent 11th & 13th finishes. It was only the FA Cup win in his 3rd season that kept him his job.

It wasn't until his 5th season that he finally got the team back into the top 4, and a league cup trophy on the board.

Modern football doesn't have the patience to allow a club to rebuild. The failure of the golden era of Poch; and subsequent let downs of Mourinho and Conte has frustrated the fanbase, who have completely lost patience.

So, many fans and pundits agreed that Spurs need to get a trophy in the cabinet to overcome their losing streak and kick start the club's rebirth.

Losing Europa and sacking the coach is worse case scenario. It underscores Spurs as losers and takes us right back to square one.

We need to win this cup; and the only way to achieve that with our squad made of glass was to protect our best players and gamble the league form on inexperienced and sub-par players.

Win the cup and the message is simple. Spurs are back. LEVY and the board must strengthen the squad, improve the medical facilities and ensure that the next coach has what he needs to succeed.

Harry- Ange doesn’t know how to fashion a draw in the league, much less a win. We’re in the final for the easiest cup in possibly 25-30, maybe more years. This cup run can absolutely not paper over his poor league performance.

This is largely due to the amount of money slushing around in the game. Growing up in the 80s and early 90s, managers rarely lost their jobs, even if they were relegated. That's because there was little to no TV money in the game. Any new manager coming in now is not going to sacrifice ready now players for academy potential. They will get him sacked. The only reason Ange accepted this is because he knows deep down he won the football manager lottery and even if he did get sacked the pay off alone would be more than he has ever earned throughout his entire career.

Sorry, this trophy will not kick start a rebirth. This is Levy we are talking about. Even with Champions League football next season there is not going to be a splurge because Levy knows that you need Champions League year after year to justify mad spending... just think about it... the route back in with this squad + 2/3 new players will be through winning the Champions League (no chance) or finishing top five (no chance). A rebirth will only come when ENIC sell and then who knows what it'll be... another investment company, a petrol state, a mad American. Each one of those offers a different type of rebirth from more of the same, to endless spending and dodging FFP, to spend now and fuck tomorrow.

Sorry but have you seen the PL form. Yes we had injuries, yes we have binned off the league recently but come on... even our reserves cost more than most of our opponents full squads. This is not a blip, this is rooted and if we go into next season with Ange in charge then that underscores us as losers.

Levy has already sown the seeds of what is going to happen in the summer. Will be amazed if our net spend is more than 50m - 60m... Expect Romero to be sold + one of Vicario, Porro or Udogie to generate around 90m - then we will spend around 130m-140m on hopefully some proven PL experience like Mbeumo. We need 3 or 4 of these so forget about Wharton and Eze type players who will cost north of 70m each.

Surely there's only one outcome no matter the result of Europa.

If we lose he's gone.

If we win, he's gone but with his head held high and still with some credibility on his CV.

It's a no brainer for Ange that he leaves even if we win as leaving ten games into next season would lose him any of the benefit of the doubt from winning the Europa.

But........managers are a strange breed...... He may not look at it like that.....if he truly believes in his methods then he may believe that he can be a success in his third season and try and get one more go.

If we win the Europa and Levy gives him more time, surely he won't walk away just to save face and miss out on his payoff when he's eventually sacked, he's on a four year contract.
