Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

A/ he never said that...
B /If you really think the First eleven plus bench is relegation fodder ..then perhaps WATCHING football isn't really your thing , maybe try something a little more obvious, like tag wrestling or formula one.
And NOTHING can rectify this appalling.prem season but a little rational thought and reflection on its Pros and cons would be a positive from a negative rather than resorting to knee jerk unhelpful stupidity.
Please don't post me again
Just go walk your dog or do yoga
Got no time for you xx

I just found it, thanks. He's said to Dan before that he has read his articles. He is so soft centred, cant have that in our manager. Absolutely nothing wrong with the article though btw.

Weirdly, haven't we always asked for a cunt manager like Mourinho other than Mourinho? If we have a respectable league standing, fans will be clapping Ange for shutting such disrespectful journalism down. And even with our shit league standing, a good piece of journalism can still be right and respectful.

100% this - people forget or don't care what Poch and that team actually achieved which was making Spurs respected and competitive consistently for years despite things going against us like the owners lack of ambition, bad recruitment (or none at all for 18 months) and losing our home after an unbeaten season there to go to the shithole that is Wembley and STILL compete at the top end of the league.
Winning a pot does not in any way make Ange more successful because football doesn't work that way - we have seen it before as you mentioned with Ramos.
Longevity, consistency and building a squad and club that competes at the top end is what we should be about - not the odd cup as much as I would love it of course, we need both to happen to really progress.

During Peak Poch every PL dreaded playing us and we sustained it for over two seasons

Magical stuff and we haven’t gotten anywhere near it since!

Every time I watch an Ange interview, I cringe. He's prickly, defensive and clearly upset about everything. He's surely long enough in the tooth to understand that you have to let it all go over your head and at least pretend that you aren't affected by things, but his body language and responses to every question shows that he doesn't have the composure and fortitude required of a top leader, when things aren't going your way.

It's time for him to step aside, one way or another, as I'm embarrassed when he speaks, just as much as I am embarrassed what Levy has achieved after 23 years and how much money made???

You don't understand how football works.
Better teams than us would go down with a buffoon of a coach that everyone has sussed out.
Plenty of teams have been too good to go but gone anyway due to poor management.

Its true what you have said but until we start winning trophies we will always be a laughing stock amongst other fans regardless of how the team is performing. . This trophy will shut them up for the summer and we can laugh at Woolwich how we got CL and won a bigger trophy than they have won for some time.

I'm all for continuity but to consider another season with Ange in charge would bring this club relegation
I have no doubt of that, would you be prepared to risk that on your try another track ethos
My guess is you're in the win a trophy on Wednesday and everything is just great again with your I always win 2nd season cunt
COYFS!!!!!!!!!
Don't worry... I don't think anyone is considering it....
That much is clear!

I'm not deflating the competition... what is factual is that the top PL clubs who have found themselves in the Europa League consistently treat it like the League Cup, playing reserves and youth players until they reach the later stages when they might play the first team. That there is the top clubs deflating the competition. Not me. For the record, I usually don't care one iota about opposing fans, majority of which I wouldn't piss on if they were on fire. Go back to the early stages of the competition... we even deflated the competition until we realised the league was a dumpster fire.

Personally, I feel you are overinflating this competition probably due to the fact we've won fuck all for so long. On Thursday when we wake up, this win will not change the narrative. As good as it will feel to get a few monkeys off our back, I trust me I will savour every minute of it, this achievement will not for one minute paper over the piss poor league form.

You are basing achievement on one metric which is winning Europe's secondary competition (which we still haven't won). Think about the health of our football club for a minute... what is the bigger achievement? Finishing top five and reaching later stagers of Champions League, or fighting relegation and winning the Europa League. If you look at it purely from silverware then fine, you win... but monetize it and you will quickly lose this argument. Also, who is better equipped next season to actually progress in the Champions League. Certainly not the team who just finished 17th but won the Europa League. For all Poch's faults (and trust me, I don't want him back), in four out of five seasons in charge he got us into the Champions League including reaching a final. I would say that is an amazing achievement under this Chairman.

Look, I hear you, but any trophy is an achievement. Its a trophy, in the cabinet, something really and tangible that I have only experienced 3 times in my memory supporting this club.

Silverware is the pinnacle of any sport. I just do not know how that can be questioned.

Its the reason why ENIC are so hated. Becaue they have failed to deliver us any of real value and consistency and if we win tomorrow ill remember it more than the CL final, or any 2nd place finish.

The only way that can be proven is to give both coaches both squads and see what they do.
Otherwise it's just opinion and educated guesswork.

My educated guess is Ange would drag Poch's team downwards and Poch would drag this team upwards.
Even if we win the Europa league this season, it doesn't mean we've achieved more, IMO. We have litterally sacrificed one competition for another. Exactly what Poch did in the days we were in the Europa league but vice versa.
If you are willing to accept poor league form domestically, getting to the Europa League final and potentially winning it is far easier than 4 top 4 finishes, including 2 title challenges.

I mean, it's what Poch did constantly. Even with the CL final run, our league form in the back end of that season was relegation worthy. 3 wins from the last 12 losing to Burnely, Southampton, West Ham etc.

I personally think a trophy is an achievement ans 90% of fana would aee it as so. You think Woolwich would rather their season or ours if we win Europa?

Ultimately we'd both start next year in CL, on 0 points but we have something at least to show for ours.

Great post.

Ive said it before and I will say it again, if he wins tomorrow night, I couldn’t give a solitary fuck if he’s on the touchline to start next season.

Should he come back in this scenario, he’d still be on an extremely short leash so I’m not too fussed one way or another. A slow start and he’s likely axed early days anyway.

Just lift that fucking trophy!
I have thought for a while he might be kept on for a bit if he wins, as it will be massive for the club given the trophy hole we are in. But it would be a mistake of course. Likely we will get a sub-par replacement in November and then we're in a mess for another year.

Before the biggest achievement we could be having since 41 years ago, the agenda from the journalists, and worse, some of our fans, towards him leading to the final is nothing short of fucking disgraceful...

I wanted him out, as I honestly never expected us to be in the final of Europa. Under this circumstance change, I'm actually feeling sorry for him to be facing all these crap while trying to bring us the biggest win in decades, and I hope he gave us all the middle finger after lifting the trophy and called it quits tomorrow.

Credit to him, his vibe is way better than Poch could handle no matter how many lemons he had for the CL final 6 years ago. Even if we lose tomorrow, what has he got to lose? He's not getting respect in anyways. He's already sentenced.

There's plenty of people who are Ange Out but also savvy enough to understand that relentless questions about the manager's future and legacy can only be disruptive in the days leading up to the game.

Honestly if that's the outcome of us winning tomorrow, I'll take it with both hands. I have seen the club in a mess for over two decades, what's another year? The win tomorrow will get us to savour for years to come.

Well done Dan. Too right he’s a clown.

Unless we win, then according to Dan he's a hero.

Or you don't agree with Dan if that happens?

More importantly, who gives a fuck? It's not about Ange it's about the team...and the amusing irony here is that Ange has pulled the classic Jose trick before a big game of taking the attention off the team by giving the media some column nonsense to write about him. It's the exact opposite of what a clown would do, whilst talking about someone calling him a clown.

I suppose if someone referred to me in my professional capacity as a 'clown', I'd be pissed off, like Postecoglou was. The trouble is, he showed he was upset by it. That was a mistake.
Take the bloke to one side, pin him up against the wall in private, threaten him with unspeakable things when nobody else can hear, but don't demean yourself in public by taking the bait, being angry and moody. By all means take the piss out of the journalist, embarrass him, even refuse to answer his question, but the last thing you do is reveal that he's got under your skin. Big mistake, Ange - but we've got used big mistakes.
Even if we win tomorrow, the bloke's still a clown.
