Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou delivered an emotional speech to the families of the players during the team's after-party on Wednesday evening.

He said: "I made a big thing for us as a group about family this year and how important family is. These boys, I'm so proud of them, and the staff. They have been the best family that I could ever be associated with.

"More importantly, it's everyone in this room - how you have helped these boys become champions. They truly deserve it. They are outstanding people, not just outstanding players. I could not be more proud to be their manager.

"I want everyone to enjoy tonight and what it means because you are all, every single one of you, deserve it from the bottom of my heart. I have never been more proud to be the manager of a football club than the manager of these players and the people with me.

"You, the families - I played a video before the game and it inspired them to win this game today. Every single one of them is a champion. Well done and enjoy the night."
Beautiful speech.

Been saying for a while that I think he’ll stay on, regardless of what happened last night. I still think that’s the case.

I’ve also been saying I’d like to see him replaced in the summer.

However, I have to admit to being more than a bit intrigued as to how he’d get on next season. Tells us that he wanted to change the club by winning g a trophy. Shall we take the risk that it has changed our mentality? Does winning the cup compensate for the league season?

If we have a chance at Emery, Klopp, or someone of that standing, we should take that, but I’m less intrigued by Silva, Iriola and Frank as I am with giving Ange another go.
It's a difficult scenario to reconcile at this point in time, as emotions are as high as they could ever be and, for me personally, it's created a real conflict.

It's far too soon to make an informed decision as I'm still buzzing from last night. I was up until the wee hours just watching and absorbing absolutely everything from the match to the post match videos, I even watched a video of our 3-2 win at OT in 2012 just to keep the vibe going.

Part of me wants him to stay to show that he's learnt and adapted. His post match presser put a lot of things into perspective, with him stating that he basically shelled the PL in favour of this trophy, so that part of me is wondering if he'll show the same adaptation in the next league campaign and, let's be honest, he's earned the opportunity to show that.

Ultimately though, the decision doesn't sit with us. All we can hope for, as fans, is that the right decision is made and that will only be seen after the fact.

If he is kept on, I truly hope he smashes the granny out of the league and proves every single doubter wrong. I want that almost as much for him as I do for the club. I honestly like the man and think he is genuine. I do love to see people like that get ahead in life.

Roberto Di Matteo won the CL with Chelski - yet he soon got exposed for his lack of tactical abilities. Unless he's had some amazing "realizations" it's the same Angelos now than the Angelos who was not good enough a few days ago. Just look at his EPL record for the last 1 1/2 season.
Just look at the records of every Spurs manager since 1984.

Ange turns teams into winners. It's a process mate...

I’m worried that the well is truly dry now, and that come the weekend we’ll see the same as every other league game this season.

Would be a different situation if the performances were of a similar trend of last year, where we yoyo’d a fair bit. This year however we’ve been consistently pretty shit in the league, and I can’t say I’ve seen us build towards a particular style of play, or even seen any patterns of play.

Let him leave on a high. It wasn’t pretty but he’s succeeded where better managers have failed, and will always be remembered for that.
I mean...do any of us give a shit about Sunday's result, really?

It's time to party!

I feel like Ange deserves to stay, but I admit I wasn't saying that before this week. Fergie took 3 years to do anything at Utd. We never give managers time, maybe we should.

However, one way of looking at it unemotionally, is to look at Utd. HAD they scored a couple of goals last night and beaten us, would Amorim staying or leaving be the best thing for them, as a club, going forward? Would Amorim winning the cup instead of us, give Utd the best chance of being greater next season, with him, or with someone else in charge?

If you look at it like that, it's maybe easier to be objective about whether Ange is the man for Spurs next season.

My impression of his post match interview was that he adapted because it was a knockout competition, not that it was any indication of him planning on doing the same in the league.

If he stays I don't see him adapting in the league.

He's had a couple of those matches in the league Brentford for example (can't remember the other one, may have been Wolves (H) )

He can do it when he wants, the question is whether he's too stubborn that his tactics are flawed with the players that he has or is he going to adapt to them on a regular basis.

Ok.

He has earnt the right to another season

If any of us questioned Levys dismissal of Mourinho one week before the cup final then wanting/pushing Levy to get rid of Ange after he’s just masterminded a UEFA cup final win and our first trophy in 17 years, needs to have long hard think.

I had like many given up on Ange but after last night, he must be given another season.

And If we do get shot of him, we deserve all the abuse and ridicule.

That said there needs to be some fine tuning from Ange and some realisation that this is the PL. Additionally we need Fabio involved.

I am now officially Ange in….

I can’t be arsed to think about or debate Ange’s future today , tomorrow or the next day. There will be plenty of time for that. Right now I am going to lie back and luxuriate in the comforting embrace of winning a trophy . Enjoy the fact that Woolwich choked and won nothing , revel in our trophy being far more prestigious than the Conference League and rejoice in the turmoil at Yanited .

As I said can’t be arsed with anything other than enjoying this long awaited feeling

I really worry that if Ange stays on then it'll be a huge reality check next season.
We're all swept up in the emotion at the moment as you say. However when we have time to analyse it all properly we'll all acknowledge that it was far from a vintage performance. To have one shot on target and only one touch in the opposition box during the second half is extremely poor, especially against the worst Man Utd team in decades.

I'm not saying his tactics were wrong because on the night Ange set us up exactly how we need to be to win the game.
Play like that against CL teams and it'll be a horror show for us though.

I'm torn, I have so much respect for Ange, he's trying to create a respectful, family orientated, winning culture at Spurs. Something we desperately need to adopt, especially in our fanbase. I just don't know if he's the right tactician to lead us into the strongest club competition in the world.

He's admitted he made a mistake with the recruitment and that cost us in the league. He's also said numerous times (including his interview after the full time whistle) that we have to target "experience" in the next window.

Watched the game when I got home and we basically shithoused a victory which I'm actually very happy about and didn't think Ange had it in him. Of course it was probably forced with the injuries to Kulu, Maddison and Bergvall but the tactical fouls, the defending deep when needed, the Danso sub, the solid foundation with a midfield 3 that were just too athletic for the United team....he's surprised me with the way he's adapted.

The thing with keeping him is that hes already said we need experience and I don't think he will allow Levy to buy more 'prospects' without voicing his objection publicly after the way this season has gone.

If we can secure a manager like Xavi or another big name who won't be hoodwinked by Levys attempts to buy 'prospects' I would still replace him but if it's these Silva type manager then.its probably not worth replacing, especially considering the squad genuinely seem to believe.

Last summer our targets in all the papers where Gallagher, Eze and Neto. All those targets sounds like they would perfectly suit Ange,, I highly doubt Ange would have wanted Odobert, Gray and Werner instead. If he is protecting the club then fine but I have been a Spurs fan too long to think that all the managers coming through the door suddenly want cheap or low wage signings.

We have to be rational about this. Ange cannot become our Ten Hag.

In the EL he showed a lot of flexibility and intelligence compared to the league where we looked dumb. I am a purist so I do really appreciate Ange wanting to play open attacking football but we don’t have elite out and out wingers, we don’t have midfielders that dominate consistently. We dont have the players for the high press, proper wingers, inverted full backs system of the elite level we need.

I have seen Ange against City or in the EL be flexible but it hasn’t been enough and along with the injuries has contributed to the awful league campaign.

My heart would like him to stay but my head says he should leave on a high note and not gamble than Ange will become less stubborn because if he doesn’t and we keep him it’s a mid season sacking and that would be sad.

I've decided you can make up your own captions for this one...

Box will probably be empty by the time he reaches his bike!
