Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I still think he’s gone in the summer. If Paratici is coming back in a bigger role his views on football do not align with Ange at all. He’ll want someone way more pragmatic if his previous appointments and targets are anything to go by.

We beaten United twice in the league - they were shit.

We beaten United en route to League Cup semis - they were shit.

We beaten United to win the Europa League - they were shit.

Fuck me. Why would some posters keep discrediting the effort of the club he/she supports, if he/she does support.

Please, if Shaw doesn't score an OG there's no way in the world we were scoring yesterday. We didn't even put a shot on target. No one who watched that match ever saw a scoring threat from us. The players won the match, they won by digging in and refusing to allow a goal. Jose was smiling watching that.

We won precisely because we abandoned Angeball. We won by gritty defending, by doing the opposite of what he's going to come back and try to do, his system that works only if you're Celtic playing men against boys. His system is dogshit, it's the reason we are in 17th, and yes - basic competent football managers like those managing the clubs who are ABOVE US that you are binning, having far less resources than we do and still being miles above, those managers would be likely to improve our fortunes immediately and dramatically.

You're such a moments guy. I bet you're the type whenever a hot chick says hi to you, you think that's it I've met my future wife...even though she's actually a nutter and frigid.

Pal, anybody can play the monstrosity Ange has fed us them last few rounds of the Europa League...proper peak 80s Serie A. I bet even Nuno, Jose, Tony Pulis, Big Sam or George friggin Graham thought "fuck me, that's negative anti-football shit". And that was in a comp with the talent level of the Champo.

Funny how your dearly beloved completely shat on his own football principles & philosophy when he realised the only way to save his job & fat paycheck was to play uber scaredy-cat stuff that we'd have murdered other managers for (Spurs or other teams).

To be clear, if we start next season playing terrorist football from the start, I want him gone faster than shit off a shoe.

But if he has that in the locker plus an adjustment to his usual gung ho style, with slightly more intelligent pressing and more situational decisions to throw bodies forward, then why not be optimistic? This is a group and coach that have a trophy winning culture now

I think some people are realistic even after a big trophy win. It's almost a bit weird, we've had so many years where we are clearly a much better team, with much more quality and not come through. Then this year, we've had the worst ever season in the prem, yet won the EL. It's quite a weird place to be.

He admitted last night that he plays differently in one off cup competitions than the league, so I don’t see him adjusting his style significantly like you’re hoping for.

Any decision needs to be made objectively removing the emotion of the cup win, otherwise it clouds your judgement.

Sacking a manager a few months into the season is what we want to avoid.

In fairness to the performance, there were two occasions we were clear 2vs1 and stuffed it up (one Biss to Solanke maybe? another Son one at least). More confidence and we'd have had a comfortable scoreline I reckon - Onana is just a hologram.

Slightest of touches from Johnson but wasn't an OG - it is his movement that caused shaw to flap, though - if Johnson isn't there, the ball doesn't go in - regardless of how much credit anyone might want to take away from him for the goal.

We sacked Nuno after a few months, every managerial decision has risk. The extra pressure on any new coach replacing Ange, especially with a group of players who clearly love him makes a new coach more likely to get sacked after a few months than Ange imo

Yeah, these realists or purists can continue their miserable support to win their perfect game. I'm off to enjoying more of the content feed from last night historic win. Honestly these fans don't deserve yesterday moments with their findings of every little imperfections to take the polish away.

If you believe Ange is a truly shit manager, you must also believe he is one of the luckiest fuckers on this earth. If has gone this far in the sport on luck it's the equal of winning powerball twice in two weeks.

Personally I believe there is a little x factor in life that can't be logically explained. I call that luck and it can go one way or the other. I'm sure most people here have experienced such a thing at least once in their lives.

So yes luck exists in my mind. However a constant non stop run of it through a prolonged period? No, it's not possible. Ange isn't the flukiest arseist man alive so he is at least a decent manager.

Ange is far from the best manager around. Hopefully he is learning and gets much better through this pretty tough in the deep end experience.

Maybe next season we see a much improved manager and team taking the steps forward this clubs supporters deserve.

You’re making a decision on a knee jerk based on the euphoria of last night as opposed to what’s happened over 9 months and 38 games.

This is a big decision, we need to be objective.

Anyway I need to stick to my previous advice and stay out of this thread and bask in our glory and nothing else! 😂

Anyone thinking about giving Ange another season based on last night is off their head. It's driven by pure emotion and nothing else.

Thankfully I don't think in this instance our board and management will be so daft as some of our fan base.

I think the decision has been taken regardless of what happened last night.

Only difference is how he exits the club, and now he can do it with his head held high and his next job will be at a better club than what it would have been had we lost last night.

But make no mistake, the league season has been an utter disgrace, there is no excuse for finishing 17th.

I just can't see how the club take the risk and roll the dice on wasting another season. Let's be frank here, he's been a clown in the league for over a year.

And some people advocating for giving him 10 games, and then if it doesn't work sacking him. Do you realise we've been discussing how we can't sack Ange midseason because it's hard to find a replacement midseason for about 9 months, and people want to do that again next season? We'd be writing off another league season by doing that.

Ange has sucked the life out of the club week on week all season long, it's been horrendous.

I do understand why some people are saying you can't sack him after winning a trophy, but it's just emotion speaking and nothing else.

Last night was the best moment in my Spurs supporting life, for over 40 years. I won't take that away from Ange, but looking at it objectively, it's one thing beating United, Frankfurt and Bodo Glimt to win a trophy (and doing it in a dogged fashion) and another thing entirely managing a 38 game league campaign and now the CL with lots of very good sides in it.

Ange has shown he's completely out of his depth in the PL. I honestly think it would be madness sticking with him. Imagine we start next season with a few losses, trust me the glow of last night will have long dimmed and we will be facing a toxic and miserable season yet again.

No. Ange goes with our best wishes, and we embark on a new season with someone else.

And, I just don't want to see us playing in the CL under Ange, we will get absolutely battered. There has been no progression at all under Ange on the pitch, and a few backs to the wall perfomances in Europe against United and Frankfurt won't convince me otherwise.

There's no doubt the players like him, but that doesn't make Ange qualified. Many poor managers have won Major trophies before. We will be making the ETH mistake United made, let's not do that please.

But Utd are fucking shit.

How’s that discrediting this club by pointing that out? Are we supposed to pretend they are the Utd of 99/08?

I think you may be surprised. Any other season levy would have pulled the trigger on a manager who had us just above the relegation zone in january but they decided to stick with him for some reason. Paid off in the end. I just think they might keep him on.

Oh my god, calling United shit isn’t discrediting anyone. They are 16th. Under Amorim their win % in the league is like 30%. The let’s laugh at United thread pops off every week .. ‘cos they’re fucking shit.

Their manager is basically begging to be put of his misery there .. because they’re shit. Would you like to pretend otherwise just because it makes you feel better about the win?

I don't, but I admit I wouldn't put my house on it.

I think the main reason Ange stayed was

1. To see the Europa League run conclude.
2. Our desired targets aren't available until the summer.
3. We plan on a major revamp of the backroom staff and replacing Ange midseason made that revamp very difficult.

That's it.

All the noises have been, the entire coaching staff and Ange are being sacked over the summer. It's a clean slate.

Combine that with Paratici's impending return, he'll have his own plans.

Nah, all of the signs point to Ange leaving. I am all but absolute certain.
