It's a difficult one for sure. I can see the argument from both sides, as our league form has been utterly atrocious and, in virtually any other season, would have seen us relegated. However, the trophy does change the landscape somewhat.
I've been watching Sky Sports news today and paid particular attention to the Football finance expert who was saying just how much money Utd will miss out on by not getting to the CL, money that will now come to us. He reckons it's around £100M, with things like sponsor bonuses, additional games etc. That wasn't even taking into account getting to the final. Progression in the CL can lead to anything up to £200M in additional revenue.
Apart from actually winning the trophy itself, that is also what AP has brought to the club by winning the EL.
As such, I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that he'll be moved on before next season.
I won't lie, I have the same concerns that everyone else has, but he's done a bit more than just win us that long sought after trophy, he's also bolstered the bank account significantly. What remains to be seen is whether that money is used wisely.
I think any sane Spurs fan has every right to have concerns about the league form.
But Ange will be here to start the season so we may as well go into it with the good vibes of a team that just won a major European trophy.
We’ve had so many shit anti climax season ends, why not enjoy this one?
