Its a tough call.
- Sack a manager who has brought the first european trophy to Spurs for 41 years invites ridicule if the manager coming in has anything other than a decent first season (and what is that, is coming 5th and getting to Last 16 or quarter finals of CL regarded as a success for a new manager ?)
- Retain Ange who is a good man motivator and persuade him to take on some tactical geniuses as assistant coaches, whilst also bringing in the best 3 players who can be persuaded to join Spurs and 2 or 3 others (plus bring in 2 or 3 youngsters such as Devine and Donley) ......... and hope he can also get 5th place and quarter finals of CL.
Which has the highest probability of happening ? Which has the lowest risk of failure ?
I recall Alex Ferguson succeeding a once very well respected Ron Atkinson as manager at ManU ....... Ferguson was almost sacked after not a great start, lucked it out to go onto being a great manager. But fine margins as to whether Atkinson's sacking and Ferguson's appointment was the correct call in the first year or two, could have easily gone pear shaped.
