Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We're going to start next season with Ange. Large swathes of the stadium gave a frustratingly loud rendition of "oh Ange Postecoglou"
Having only attended PL matches this season, that's the first time I actually recall hearing it since....2023?

Listen to the radio. Watch the TV. Everyone has done a 180 now and are back to Ange in. Comments like "must stay" and "deserves another season" are rife.

As I said yesterday, the game was hard to use. We actually started quite well and I commented to friends that we looked quicker, sharper and were playing at least 20% more intensely.
But in the 2nd half we fell off a cliff. 2 of the goals were Archie Gray. I think he should go on loan next season. 1 was a lazy penalty. That penalty actually came because Udogie was so dead on his feet he gave the ball away in the LWF position and couldn't even walk back.
Last goal was a freak worldy.

It's kind of a shame in some regards we now have no games for him to prove one way or another.

We won the Europa League, but make no mistake, the entire top half of the premier league could do the same if they, like us, went as ball deep as we did and thew away 22 games.

He should go, but he won't IMO.

No one at the game wanted Ange out yesterday. They want him backed not sacked. Most seemed to think he was at fault for trying to play Angeball when we quite obviously had lost the players to do so, but that he has learned by his mistakes

Remember when we got Arnesen and he wanted Jol as manager but Levy thought we had to have a big name so got Santini? Arnesen then spent 2 months trying to piss Santini off so he'd bugger off. Result, a wasted season. Well if Levy hoists Postecoglou onto Paratci expect similar, except we'll have no coach on the books like Jol to step in.
I'd assume that Paratici would have a manager lined up to step in immediately like he did with Conte.

And the word on the web is that his go to if Francesco Farioli, who recently left Ajax.

With the caveat that Wednesday was incredible and my head is still in the clouds because of it.. I am still driven slightly crazy by the fact that a lot of fans seem to be treating that Europa League final as the Series Finale of Tottenham Hotspur.. Almost a whole, "I don't care what happens now. It was amazing. I'll be happy whatever. Let him stay, he's earned it".

No. Because as great a night as it was.. In October, it'll just be a memory. And it won't be comforting when we are inevitably getting beaten most weeks and pissing away what is an astounding opportunity that has landed in our laps. Getting the trophy weight from around us and being in the Champions League is potentially a phenomenal launching pad for us, if we are brave. The club cannot waste it by being inactive due to some misplaced sense of politeness.

I think they will though.

If we look back through Levy’s history the answer is there. He’s risk averse, he doesn’t know what he’s doing on the football side and always makes the wrong decision.

On that basis I fully expect him to keep Ange, give him the first ten games (or arbitrary number) of next season, which will result in that being written off too and then sack him when we are 14th and have lost our first 3 or 4 champions league games.

He won’t back Ange in the transfer market either with suitable players because of this. A perfect storm for Levy. He won’t have to spend money and can say he gave him a chance.

Wished you guy's reach a verdict and tell Levy

I think this is spot on.

I think Levy and Co have already made a list of managers for next season and some gentle enquiries. It would be negligent not to do that earlier in the season given the league results and hoping for an unlikely Europe Cup win.

I suspect the ones Levy wants have said no or are too expensive on first approach, leaving a bunch of unproven second-choice managers who are as a big a risk if not more than Postecoglou.

The middle course in all of this is for a full and frank discussion that includes the club heirarchy, Postcoglou and his coaches, about what went wrong in the league, how it will be addressed and what personnel changes specifically with the training ground coaching and player load management will be implemented should he be re-appointed.

Part of me wonders what would be different if he had a top draw set of coaches rather than jobs for the boys. We’d still lose a lot of games but I bet it wouldn’t be as many. Losing Chris Davies and not replacing him seems pretty evident.

I'm ange out,
for Ange can it get any better ? he has a good cup win
what will he do next season with us,yes higher up the league,But does anyone thing his Angeball will change in the league ?
keep losing game and Levy will sack him,
Go now and he is a hero to many here, wait and maybe he's called a duffer by most no here

You can't debate with Angefans anymore really ....

We play BADLY and LOSE with full squad and it's the players
We play BADLY and LOSE with a number of players injured and it's the INJURIES

I mean, why even bother debate???? I hope he just leave and take his fans with him.
This just this. The John Duncan John Duncan Pythagoras long stopped debating with them. It's simply a personality cult. They believe in Ange Postecoglou and the reality of where this club is actually headed matters not a bit . People need to stop banging their heads against this wall.

On the part of those who want him to stay, the most prevalent point seems to be that he deserves to stay because he has the players on his side or something.

Except the very same people were convinced that he had totally lost the dressing room after seeing those utterly lethargic performances that we had gotten accustomed to during this calendar year in particular. That no-shot-on-target first leg against AZ immediately comes to mind, but it was hardly a singular incident in this regard.

Seems like these people are also aware that there's not a single non-sentimental, footballing reason in favour of keeping him, but are so desperate to continue seeing him in the dugout for whatever reason that they're clutching at straws.

It really is a cult of personality at this point. He even declared himself the "main character" in the pre match presser to the Brighton game.

Now that the dust has settled and I''ve had time to assess the season. We 100% must replace Ange.

The idea of keeping him just because he won a cup is wrong. The standards in the league slipped way more than I realised was possible. Our floor has become relegation contenders. There is no guarantee that this won't happen again, because with CL football we'll find ourselves rotating heavily in some league games next year and we can't just write them games off as defeats.

I will forever be grateful to Ange for getting us over the line. I'll even happily call him a Tottenham legend and have a big picture of him framed in the stadium with the trophy. But on reflection, I feel like Romero almost single handily won us that Europa League with his performances in all the knock out games. Bar Ange resorting to a slightly more pragmatic style and prioritising Europe, he didn't really make the difference. The final was a very poor game that could have gone either way. Had we have blown them away 4-0 then this is a different discussion.

The problem is I'm not sure we can just hire someone with no CL experience like Iraola, Frank or Silva. At least Glasner has the experience of winning Europa so he'd be a good option. Xavi is the one I want and with CL football, we might actually have a chance of getting him.

Love you Ange. But think the correct play is to walk our separate ways. I kind of made my decision back in February but didn't want to go against him while he still had a chance of winning us a trophy so glad I stayed on side. But now feels like the time to walk away and I've a feeling Levy feels the same way.
