I don't quite see it like that tbh mate.

I have no issues with us sitting deep and to be honest, whilst I agree we did that, it's not like the opposition were creating chances themselves. United created maybe 1 good chance, Frankfurt zero, Bodo Zero.....I means it's not like we got peppered and got lucky. In all those games there was a level of control and never did we look panicky or desperate.

The point I'm making is that I didn't even think he had it in his locker to change it so drastically. His stubbornness and inability to change it in the league led me to believe he was a lost cause. I still think he's an egotistical passive aggressive man but he deserves massive praise in what he has done.

He is absolutely saying the right things about making mistakes in the window and the need for experience. As i said before, there was a warning sign in his post match interview after winning the Europa where he was sort of making excuses for changing his style with knock out football being different to the league so I am wary. I'd have preferred him to just accept he changed it because it wasn't working previously but again...thats probably down to his ego that he can't admit that.
‘mistakes in the window’ is just blaming the players and the board. and i didn’t see any plan with his new sitting deep strategy. just two lines of 5 with a bunch of headless chickens

I can totally get why the players love him, he does seem to be good at the motivational speeches. I get that. It's just most of the time on the pitch though they just don't look like they know what to do or how.

I can see they'd be willing to run through walls for him, but it's just not enough on its own is it?

Doing something utterly shit but doing it at 100mph doesn't make it better.

The players feelings are a consideration of course, but it doesn't trump losing 58% of our matches in a league season.

Professional sports are a business. No arguing with that fact. However unlike any other business a sports team derives its income primarily through emotional investment.

People don't pick the team they support every new season like a car insurance policy. This gives owners incredible latitude on the liberties they often take. That is until they seriously start messing with that emotional investment capital.

So yes football is a business. It is though a business that has to have emotion taken into consideration before any major decision is made.

For that reason I think Ange will probably be manager at the beginning of next season.

I can only hope things go well.

Lol you guys....

You all called him a fraud, layed into him for months and he completely mugged you all off.

So funny watching you seethe.

The guy proved you all wrong as much as he did right.

Goes, stays, whatever, he gave you a european trophy and you couldn't even give it 5 days to allow others to still enjoy it... some of you couldn't give it 2 days.

Let's be real - Mickey saved the day/season.

If he doesn't do that, our arses fall out and that would have been that +17th.

We all know it.

I hope he personally thanked him for it and is grateful.

Oh and props to Yeves Bissouma actually checking he's not hurt. But you are so right this here is why we are still talking about the clueless coaches position at all. The man needs to go.

Is there anyone who actually believes it was Ange's cunning plan all along to throw the league so we could win the cup?

#IQTest

Youre fishing for reactions here, and judging by the ones you got, you very much know your audience here.

There isn't a single chance focusing on the cups over the league was not discussed with the club. Its the ONLY reason he kept his job.

someone find one quote where ange takes personal responsibility for the results on the pitch ever. something along the lines of, 'i got it wrong' or 'we got the tactics wrong' or 'i shouldn't have played this player'. i won't hold my breath.

The highlighted part may actually be his ethos. But without the stupid part (in his head)

Into and after the final he was talking about how he pushed the "stonecutter creed" on the players. Which boils down to "the first 100 blows don't matter, it is the 101st and final one".

But carving a statue out of stone and playing competitive football are two very different things.

well he kind of did, he was clearly injured as he didnt even make the bench for the brighton game...he gave him long enough to nearly fuck it up for us too.
Yeah and I still expected him to start him, regardless.

Like Kane wasn't really ready to come back in CL final (not to mention the absolutely abhorrent mugging off of my guy Moura).

Thought he'd jemmy him in even if at 40% or whatever.

Just inject him up and push him out there.

The only thing that I can remember is when he said something like how it was his responsibility to fix the club. Which isn't even what you were talking about but it does paint the picture of when things work it is because of him, and when it doesn't because of X amount of external factors.

Cmon guys what are we doing here??

I've made it clear what I think of him and thought there was ZERO chance he could land a trophy but he did it and did it tweaking his tactics.

The man (when we all thought was deluded and spoke absolute bollocks) stated he would win us a trophy and he did. If someone talks shit but actually backs his talk then how can you even hate?

He's saying now he knows what mistakes we made in the window last summer and we need experience now. I'm not a hater by nature, if someone (even if I completley dislike the person) says something and actually delivers then I mean, I tend to Start believing that ok there's substance behind this.
Brother you are way smarter than this. Give your head a wobble.

The majority of footballers are unbelievably thick and easy to con. They want two things. to play and to be well paid. If they get both they love it.

Tbf I've been celebrating since Wednesday night so it's been wobbling enough lol.
You support Spurs you have every right to enjoy it. I'm never forgetting it. But he's a clueless manager horribly out of his depth haven't seen a thing to change my mind about it. Unlike the Dudu talkers who are in his personality cult I've seen us win trophies under joke coaches before, it's not as unique as they want you to think Graham, Ramos , no one at Spurs recalls them fondly. Ange will be just as soon forgotten. Chavs don't sing for Demateo and he won them a ECL.

Happily I think he's gone and hopefully he takes the cult off to Olympiakos with him. He's mugged off no one with an actual brain about EPL level football.

We finished 17th?? On 38 points ?????

Fuck me he’s not a prophet because he predicted we would win something and we did. He threw the rest of the season away to focus hard on what he knew was by far the easiest thing to win because the calibre of opposition is incredibly low compared to the Prem.

‘Delivers’ - guy won a trophy but football has been shocking for a year and a half and we’ve seen our worst league season in forever. He hasn’t delivered shit. The EL win gets him a thank you and a goodbye cheque.

38 points you dimwit. Mugged us off?

Well done him for masterminding a win over the biggest shitshow United team in history. Let’s all kiss his feet.

He’s shite, his fans are shitebags, and he needs to go.

I've always believed that Ange, the -superficially- charming person that he is, has Levy under his spell. He doesn't treat him the same way that he treated his previous managers.
I agree with this, except that I think it has far less to do with Levy just having a fetish for an Australian accent, and far more to do with the magic by which Ange turned players like Hojbjerg, Lo Celso and Spence from write-off liabilities into assets.

The Levy ideology, boiled down to its essence, is that transfer market expenditure does not create squad value, management (inclusive of scouting and recruitment and the like) creates squad value. All of the million different Levy projects have been just the newest re-branding of that same core idea, that you can be a top club without spending like one if your leadership is clever and shrewd enough.

I think Levy trusts Ange with his money, which was the critical failure in his relationship with Poch and has been a persistent thorn in his side for his entire chairmanship. He's always felt his managers were horribly wasteful with the resources they were given (not unjustifiably!) and so he really wants this to work.

Sacrificing everything to break our trophy drought was the right thing to do even if Ange is a out-of-his-depth lightweight who needs to go.

The club is in a MUCH better position today than it would have been if we'd finished 5th with the trophy drought ongoing.

And one of the benefits of that is that the options to replace Ange are now better than they would have been.
