I lived and worked in Abu Dhabi and Muscat, Oman for ten years and spent many weekends in Dubai. Muscat was a great place to live, Abu Dhabi not so much, but still OK. I had the chance to move to Dubai or Qatar for another four years but turned both down.

Yes it was ridiculously hot and the humidity in summer was even worse than the heat, but you do get used to it and we still went out and about even in the summer - mad dogs and Englishmen, etc. Alcohol was expensive but readily available in hotels and at home (as a non-Muslim resident I had a license to purchase it). It was safe for the family and the education at the British school was excellent. Those were great times.

Retire there? Nah.
Gotta love an alcohol-apartheid state.

:ange-facepalm:

I don't trust old men that go to Thailand
Serious Gary Glitter vibes.

My wife was so proud of the great "deal" she got for our holiday to Abu Dhabi in 2023.
It was "cheap" because nobody in their right mind goes to Abu Dhabi in July when it's 45c and 80-90% humidity.
I was fucking drenched every minute I wasn't inside an airconditioned building. No way I could survive there for a whole summer. The hotel had even put all their outdoor activity equipment away because they knew no one could actually function in it. It wasn't enjoyable, it was more like an endurance test.

Although the outside Rollercoaster at Ferarri Land was fun. If you like being blasted at 100mph into that 45c 90% climate.
The wives and kids used to get out of Dodge the day the schools broke up and not come back until the day before they started again. I was stuck there for all but three or four weeks of it.

Apart from the odd dive trip I’d be pretty much stuck in my air conditioned house, car, restaurant, bar or office. It’s certainly not the time to go there on holiday.

I don’t see why anybody non Islamic would want to live in those countries. You’re literally a fish out of water.

And that fucking 5am call to prayer can get to fuck as well. They’ll need god to help them if they wake me up from my sleep with that bullshit.

Yeah snap.

My other half’s uncle was the MD of a big travel group.

“Poor people go to Dubai in summer” was what he told us when we said we had booked a 5star 10 day break in Dubai. In august.

“The wealthy go their to winter dahling” he said while laughing at us. Cheeky bastard.

He had a great point. 48c every day. You burnt your feet getting out of the pool.

Great deal on the 5star hotel though!!!

For the intellectually challenged who keep calling him 'a fat cunt', he didn't look very fat on Sunday...

🤔

Don’t think he’s even 6ft. Big Ange my arse!!
He’d be called little ange if he stood next to me.

Mind you he’d probably be called midget Ange if he stood next to AberdeenYid AberdeenYid .

He would be.

And there’d only be one fat cunt there and he wouldn’t be antipodean.
