Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I can hardly believe what I'm seeing here below;

We played 17 matches in the PL by 22 December 2024 and had 23 points.
Which means in the remaining 21 matches we gained only 15 points.

Ok, so now that the euphoria has slowed down a bit, we can have this debate again.

I just watched the Final, and it's safe to say that it was played between 2 terrible teams. Our last good performance against a decent side came against Frankfurt in the QF. Ange has a cult hero status for winning our first European trophy in more than 40 years, but we can't continue with those sorts of performances next season.

We can't make the Ten Hag mistake. Just agree to compensate him comprehensively, and label it as a "mutual consent" or something...

There are a lot of decent managers that we can appoint like Xavi, Iraola, Frank etc. at least until Poch comes back after the WC if it all goes tits up.

I agree, contrary to the idea there's no one out there who would be an improvement, there are loads who would be improvements. Anyone at PL level would be an improvement, but there are some that at least show some promise.

And the Final looked like what the match commentators said, it was like watching a relegation 6 pointer

Conceicao also just became available.

If we want to have a real go at the EPL and Champions League.

- Vast improvements to medical department.
- Romero and Porro stay.
- New number 6 to replace Bissouma.
- Bring in the best goalkeeping coach alive to work with Kinsky and Vic.
- Sell Spence; and get 2 full backs who can compete with Porro and Udogie.
- If Richy isn't physically capable, sell and bring in a striker.
- Dragusin and Kulu will likely be out until later this year. We can't rely on 18 year olds to fill the void. Get some experience players (on loan) to fill the void.
Not likely to happen, but I could see RIcharlison coming back to the form he had at Everton and being useful.

From the second leg of Frankfurt onwards we did exactly what was needed and best suited to the players available in every game to get the necessary result.

Those are exactly the kind of performances we need next season, what we do not need is the kind of shapeless headless nonsense that got us turned over at Molineux in between the Frankfurt legs.

Spoke to a guy this morning who has been Ange in all season and even he now wants him out. No idea why it took him so long to come to his senses, but at least the penny dropped. Said Sunday was the final straw. I was pretty pissed off with losing like that in the final game of the season but it seems lots were fine about it. I bet Levy wasn’t.

And how long is it going to take for another new manager to try and get the dressing room?
Endure another lost season while he breaks himself in with others!

Hmmm. The same Poch who saw trophies as mere ego…

Winning breeds winning. And football that gets us across the line is what this long suffering fanbase needs. Hence the love for Ange’s achievement. It was horribly laser focused at the expense of the league, but it’s made a point to the administrative hierarchy as to what we need to succeed across the board.

Ferguson’s first FA Cup win with MU and Mourinho’s first LC win with the Chavs were crucial in all the success that followed those clubs. Chucking Ange now is either the bravest or most foolish decision we could make.

No one is getting excited about Iraola or Frank.

That would make sense if we were actually decent and showing signs of getting better. Winning a handful of games can also be a massive mirage. If we finished 5th again and then got over the hump then heck yea, it would feel massive in that mentality way. When you are an abject failure in every other way and string together a couple victories to win a trophy...I don't think that breeds more winning.

No one is getting excited about Iraola or Frank.

Is that the point of a manager? We just need a good one. Managers help get players sure. But we have money and play in the PL. We can get players if we want to pay for them.

Out of curiosity, why do you think Xavi, Irala, Frank would be decent?

Iraola and Frank have NEVER managed a team in Europe and have 1 cup between them (Greek). Neither have a win % above 40% and have never coached high performing teams.
Because they have gotten media plaudits in recognized leagues they "count" as "real" managers whereas because Ange is Australian and arrived from Scotland, results don't matter, his fraudulence is simply a matter to be taken for granted.

In the real world Xavi is an extremely thin-resumed gamble, Iraola is every bit as tactically reckless and inflexible as Ange is, and Frank is a perfectly okay 6.5/10.

Sunday the final straw?? Does your mate realise we played and won a cup midweek and players have been on the piss since ? I mean there must be a better last straw than that ffs?

Ah so we're about to go on a 13 season Premier League winning streak because we have Postecoglou as manager and won something.

I really don't understand this obsession with labelling Ange a fraud.

He came to our club stating time and time again that he 'always' wins in his second season.....and he delivered....what is fraudulant about him??!
