Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

This is true but look at the resources Frank works with? Ange has probably spent more in two years than Brentford in their history.
We've spent more, sure, but Brentford are actually in the top half of the net spend table over the past four years, they've reinvested the fees they've gotten for their big players and then some.

Reportedly a cheap wage bill of course, it's a club recruitment strategy based on a volume chances taken on well-scouted younger players, but Frank has had decent resources to work with throughout his time there, it's not a relegation fodder squad.

And truly, you look back at the players they had in the Championship and wonder how they didn't walk that league. That's an unfair stick to beat Frank with, but it does make you wonder whether this is a real superstar coach.

If you look at things by half-seasons, I believe we have been worse every half-season than the one before. Finishing as everyone knows, perilously close to the drop zone.

Returning him next year under the auspices of "Well we can sack him after 10 games if we're bad" wastes the whole summer, the whole CL campaign next year, and the chance at anyone who might be available this summer in favor of the sort of manager who's available in October.
it would be right up there in the top 3 dumbest things levy has done. would show hes as clueless as the idiot he has hired.

I don’t think Ange threw anything away. He has been very opportunist by suggesting he chose to ignore the league from Jan onwards to concentrate on the Europa League. I just don’t see Levy letting this happen with each place lost depriving us of valuable PL prize money especially when victory in the EL was far from guaranteed bearing in mind we hadn’t won it for 41 years. He is just a clueless shit manager who has pulled the wool of the eyes of some of our fan base to excuse our diabolical league performance. However if I was a season ticket holder I would be tempted to call Ange’s bluff by writing to Levy to demand a refund of my season ticket
binned the league in jan, but rushed back two CB's in april for a pointless game, putting their careers in jeopardy....yea sounds right.

But he didn't win a Final though.... NONE of them did!

If winning a Trophy was so easy, then we woulda done it in 2002, 2006, 2010, 2015-16, 2019... and so on...
but we didn't.

We found a cheat code to CL football by 'only having to win' the Europa League, and not have to worry about the League...

It's not to be sniffed at...
It has to be admitted that the field in Europa was quite weak, and the final was a punch-up between two armless men.

That answers the question "if it's so easy why don't we do it all the time". Because it's not so easy all the time.

Who’s the superstar coach you have in mind then?

If a guy who can take one of the lowest spending teams to midtable and have them continually scoring goals even after losing their best goals scorers isn’t a superstar coach, I’d like to know who is.

Then we get relegated next season while playing CL football

We've lost some absolute jokes of UEFA Cup knockout ties over the modern period, a fair few of them because we were prioritizing the league, a couple of them being something resembling actively trying to lose.

Forget winning the thing, we hadn't been to a semifinal in the Levy era.

I am thankful Ange gave it pride of place and got the job done, it's a huge monkey of the club's back that we'll benefit from whether he's here or not.

Yes, but one man's pride of place is another man's 'nothing else to play for this year' / 'it's my only shot to save my job.'

There really wasn't anything else to focus on. According to Ange's defenders the league position is meaningless if we aren't in any of the European football places, so there's nothing else he or anyone would have done.

There has to be something in it. There's a pattern in there somewhere.

It seemed crazy so I asked Gemini, which confirmed

I asked ChatGPT a couple of questions.

Ange is the 7th best Spurs manager when ranked as a top 20.

And in a WWE style Royal rumble these would be the final 4.

Winner: Bill Nicholson

  • Why? A true Tottenham legend, Bill Nicholson combined tactical brilliance with steely resolve. He’s got that gritty 1960s British toughness, and after all those trophies, he’d be determined to prove himself the best.

📊

  1. Bill Nicholson
  2. Harry Redknapp
  3. Keith Burkinshaw
  4. Mauricio Pochettino (he’d be the underdog, athletic and determined, but ultimately overshadowed by the older, more experienced “veterans.”)

This is where technology has led us.

Well led me.

I agree it was the only rational decision to be made, and I don't credit Ange with some sort of rocket science in making it.

And hey, we got a bit lucky with the draw. I have a hard time seeing us beating Lazio and Athletic Bilbao in their home stadium.

But then again, Bodo/Glimt's home record in Europe is insane, and we went up there and did the business. And I couldn't imagine us beating Frankfurt at the time either and we did.

We dared and we did. It's on the wall, mate.

The General has to be No 2, he lead us to three trophies. And where is Arthur Rowe???

I agree. It's on the wall and that's it.

Winning that match doesn't change who he is, which is someone who is completely out of his depth in the PL.

So many people are letting that toddler fight in the Final cloud their judgement, which before the final was 95% Ange out among the fans who live outside padded rooms, and for good reason, based on 100 matches and not just one

I had to literally tell Gemini what the results were of our first 10 games of this season because it kept insisting we beat Newcastle, Brighton, and Palace.

Gemini:
Points from first 10 games:
  1. Leicester (A): 1-1 Draw (1 point)
  2. Everton (H): 4-0 Win (3 points)
  3. Newcastle (A): 2-1 Win (3 points) - Correction from previous search results, it was a 2-1 win for Tottenham.
  4. Woolwich (H): 0-1 Loss (0 points)
  5. Brentford (H): 3-1 Win (3 points)
  6. Man Utd (A): 0-3 Loss (0 points)
  7. Brighton (A): 3-2 Win (3 points)
  8. West Ham (H): 4-1 Win (3 points)
  9. Crystal Palace (A): 1-0 Win (3 points)
  10. Aston Villa (H): 4-1 Win (3 points)
  • Total points from first 10 games (2024/25): 1+3+3+0+3+0+3+3+3+3=22 points.

Me:
"those results are incorrect.

there were only 16 points gained from the 2023/24 season. The Newcastle game was lost 2-1, the Manchester United game was won, the Brighton game was lost, and the Crystal Palace game was lost"

Gemini:
I apologize for the errors in the previous calculations. It seems I made a significant mistake in recalling the results for the 2023/24 season, and potentially the 2024/25 season's first 10 games as well. I will correct this immediately.

Let's verify the first 10 league games from the search results:

  1. Leicester City (A): 1-1 Draw (1 point) - Confirmed
  2. Everton (H): 4-0 Win (3 points) - Confirmed
  3. Newcastle United (A): 2-1 Win (3 points) - Confirmed. My previous assumption of a loss was incorrect.
  4. Woolwich (H): 0-1 Loss (0 points) - Confirmed
  5. Brentford (H): 3-1 Win (3 points) - Confirmed
  6. Manchester United (A): 0-3 Loss (0 points) - Confirmed. My previous assumption of a win was incorrect.
  7. Brighton & Hove Albion (A): 3-2 Win (3 points) - Confirmed. My previous assumption of a loss was incorrect.
  8. West Ham United (H): 4-1 Win (3 points) - Confirmed
  9. Crystal Palace (A): 1-0 Win (3 points) - Confirmed. My previous assumption of a loss was incorrect.
  10. Aston Villa (H): 4-1 Win (3 points) - Confirmed
Total points from first 10 games (2024/25): 1+3+3+0+3+0+3+3+3+3=22 points

etc. In the end I had to tell it the points. Problem with these LLMs is that they learn from people on the internet, and about 5 mins into using X/Twitter or Reddit confirms that most people are defiantly wrong and abusive, so I'm kind of not surprised "AI" can't count, but kind of surprised it didn't tell me to go fuck myself and that I'm a dumb c***, as that's probably what I'd get if I pointed out any of this stuff on either medium.
