Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I thought Iraola and frank had been managing a team in Europe this whole season...I'm obviously confused....silly me....

I think the term Ange haters is just too extreme for use in a lot of cases.

I like the bloke (when he’s not surly post loss), and I get very emotional watching the Europa League win and I think it’s an unfortunate situation if he leaves after such a momentous occasion, but I’m also objective enough to realise he’s not equipped to compete at this level.

If we get a tactically astute manager in I don’t see why this winning mentality going forward should evaporate! If anything I think it could galvanise the squad once the new manager earns their respect.

That highly motivated feeling you refer to can quickly dissipate once we start turning in poor performances irrespective of who the manager is. Based on last season I think it’s worth rolling the dice on a replacement rather than sit on our hands and hope.
There were 50 matches worth of data points this season. A lot of people looked at them and didn't see a reason to believe the system would work or that the manager was very good at managing to the opponent and game situations. Against that you have people who evaluate the manager on his motivational skills, personality, and winning a trophy. When someone comes back and explains why Spurs system and manager will succeed where they have not after the first ten games of season one of the project, I'll consider that I might be wrong. For now, I've just watched too much bad football over two seasons to think Spurs are moving in the right direction.

I can see the rationale behind sacking Ange. The league form was sackable and it was his decision to have a younger recruitment profile. Or at least he’s claimed that responsibility. He also struggled massively with 2 competitions last year and we lost every game after the EL. Being in the CL should make that harder.

But people massively underestimate the value of this squad being winners now and their self belief in what they can achieve with this manager needs to be given a chance to get some completion. Either it will fail and he’s gone by December and the whole thing has no what ifs… or it absolutely kicks on much better than anyone could have expected.

We’ve started both Ange seasons with strong performance levels, with the right recruitment this summer, there’s a non-zero chance that we are able to maintain those levels this time.
There's enough talent there that Spurs could finish 8th next season if they put a hat rack in the manager's box. The question is, are they ready to take a step forward next season beyond just recovering from their poor performance in this one. The players aren't going to always have Bodo Glimpt and Man United to make them look good.

My opinion is that they are ready.

When they come back for pre season and Ange tells them to work harder than ever and be more disciplined than ever to stay fit because it will pay off, they have the muscle memory and irrational belief from winning something to actually do it. For 40 odd years it's been empty words when every manager said "this year is the one we do something special". Now those words actually mean something to these players. Whether they should logically or not.

This squad is still severely lacking technical and creative players. There’s literally 2 players in the squad we can relay upon.

Looking at our managers history, of the last seventeen appointed under Levy, from unknowns to the best of the best none have covered the club in glory.

The EL win under Ange has covered over the worse top flight season in ninety years, and if we looked at CV's only Conte would be back on Monday. Without Kulu, Madders, and Bergvall we still won the final summing up the quality teams we played in the competition. We scoff at the Conference League but the EL is little stronger.

We won well done, now like United or City or Scouse would have done, we move on.

Iraola for me, Glasner shouldn't be ruled out, but if i an paying 2,300 quid next season for a season ticket then I don't expect to witness half of those games ending in defeat.

Ange has to win twelve more games (on average) to make a top four place next season. He has little ability to do that.

Levy needs to pull the trigger next week.
The EL is little stronger? FC Noah!! We beat teams who are in the champ lge this season. Easily the best team Chelsea played was Betis, currently 6th best in Spain . Only them and Fiorentina were getting to Europa standard. That competition wasn’t meant for strong prem lge teams. Forest could easily win it next season.
Looking at what we had to play I would think the prem lge teams will target the Europa as a means to getting in the champ lge.
