Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If the club has any wit they'll have a quick look at Man Utd and how they acted last summer and realise that once you've undermined the manager by speaking to candidates about the job in a way that's been allowed to be made public, you cannot go back and say, "ooh dear, we'll keep you then". It doesn't work and cannot work.. When you've decided he's not the man, he's done.
Spot on. The picture of Commoli with Ramos and then keeping Jol for 3 months another example. The manager has no authority and the players switch off. We have to change now.

We outspent them on wages?

We definitely didn’t outspend the rest of the PL on wages to the same degree that Inter did the Serie A.
Our weekly payroll is 47,000 euros less than theirs. So, a youth player's wages. I don't see what spending parity with the rest of the league has to do with comparing the club-to-club resources. Nor what it would have to do with his performance in European competition since he can't very well only play Italian sides in that, can he?
Also, haven't I heard a lot of chat about how we've "downsized the wage budget" the last couple seasons, so theoretically during Allegri's Inter reign we have indeed outspent them on wages?

Well put.

If you prioritize the one competition where glory is possible at the expense of a few quid from league positions, you get sacked by these clowns.

The game might be about glory for fans but not for Levy.

17th.

38 points.

Year and a half of being terrible against our actual peers.

No actual progression.

Park the bus football to scrape a winnable competition isn’t genius coaching nor a reason to keep a coach on.

Y’all are ridiculous. Of course the board aren’t gonna keep someone in charge just because they threw everything at the EL.

I assume you’ve only ever watched them in the prem then .. where their budget and playing squad has decided the style.

Guy is levels ahead of Ange. Can’t wait.

You think what he did in the championship matters now?

You spent the last 2 years saying what Ange did in Scotland was irrelevant. Even after winning the second biggest European trophy there is you are sticking to that but now Frank in the Championship matters?

You are a blatant gooner

Everything to do with comparable success though.

Winning at Inter because they spend less on transfers but more on wages doesn’t mean shit when it comes to expecting him to be successful in England with Spurs.

Maybe the CL but not domestically

Thomas Frank has turned Brentford into a permanent premier league fixture with a wage budget consistently in the bottom three.

Anyone using the argument that "but Ange beat him with Spurs so Ange is better" is brain-dead sorry. Ange should be beating Brentford comfortably every time given the absolute chasm in resources available to each manager.

Turning a mid table championship team with an average crowd of 10,000 into a midtable premier league team is no mean feat. Recognising that the football he played in the championship wouldn't work and adapting to the premier league and doing it well is a great sign. I guess we don't know exactly how he'd set us up at Spurs, because again he'd recognise that the quality of player available to him is better and he'd adapt again and none of this "it's just who we are mate" schtick which some people love but I think is just unearned arrogance.

I loved the trophy and it's something for the club to build on but I am getting fucking tired of 8 hour round journeys every other week to watch us get battered with no discernable sign of improvement or plan, and Frank is absolutely a step up on that and I'm certain.

Yep, I’m a blatant gooner because like most of here I think this guy is complete shit and I’m not blinded by the Europa league.

The second biggest European trophy there is .. mate until like three years ago it was the only other European trophy. Stop wording things to try & big it up lmao, for years we were a champions league club! The list of EL winners is hardly fucking elite.

Frank has overachieved for years in the best league on the planet and shown enough to deserve an upgrade. He wouldn’t be my first choice but I like him more than Ange who managed to get 17th with a vastly superior team and resources. And who is an intensely dislikable person.

Glad the board seem to be making the right decision - fuck off the cultists.

Edit: Throw everything at Glasner, he won europes second best trophy, beat Ange home and away, finished miles ahead in the league with less resources and then won an FA cup against Manchester City in a final.

Guy schools Ange on every level.

Gooner troll like a lot on here.

Starting to feel like maybe only if Pep and Klopp had a lovechild would you be capable of digesting the idea that there might be someone out there who could do a better job than Ange. Stone me if a guy who's been to 2 CL finals in the last 3 years isn't an exciting prospect for our first CL campaign in over 6 years but an Australian fraud who gets you a point a game in the league as the price of cup success is our messiah I think we might well be completely fucked.
edit: I forgot that Conte season admittedly lol 2nd CL campaign in 6 years.

Gooner troll like a lot on here.

“Everyone on here who disagrees with me is a gooner troll!”

99% of the forum wanted him gone pre final. It’s just that most people are intelligent enough to not have changed their mind based on one game against Manchester United.

You always wanted him here & have used that to justify it now so it’s not surprising. We should go ahead and replace him with Di Matteo, blokes won Europe’s BEST trophy so must be a better coach, right?!

Totally how football works.
