so top 4 and champions league qualification actually is a good thing to aspire to? can't have it both ways. it either matters or it doesn't and to me it matters. i'm still pinching myself that we nicked it with that cup
It is when you're an Everton, Newcastle, Villa etc, even us back in the late 2000's/early 2010's, and possibly now tbf, but there comes a point when you want more. We've fallen down the pecking order big time the past 4/5 years, with 2022 being a bit of an anomaly at this point, so it's a good thing to aspire to right now for where we're at. When we were a regular top 4 side, just doing that wasn't enough. We were at the top table at that point, but not winning anything, so it's fair to want all 3. The top 4/cl became the expectation, and winning something alongside that should've been the aspiration. We never quite got there, and in our worst season in half our fans lifetimes leaguewise, we went and won a major trophy. Classic fucking Tottenham.

I think given where we are right now, aspiring to be a top 4 side again is fair.

I would take finishing 17th if it meant winning a Champion's League, yes. :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
Why?

You're so full of emojis, but if you don't mind in actual words, why? The opposite side if the hypothetical isn't that Spurs never win anything, so I'm in no way saying that I don't want trophies, I'm saying I don't want another season of losing at home to the Ipswichs and Leicesters of the league.

What's this line for you, how do you balance this? What would you expect the following season, another CL win whilst just avoiding relegation?

Would you take losing every single CL game for the rest of time, in exchange for winning the league every season?

You're so hung up on calling anyone that doesn't like the idea lunatics, but you seem to be missing the main point (of mine at least) that I want Spurs to be good! Good in CL, good in the league, good in the domestics. Do that and trophies will come naturally.

Spurs being good increases the chances of winning multiple trophies in future, good teams don't finish 17th in the league, poor teams can fluke a cup though.

it's not about being hard it's about talking shit online that you'd never do in person and then calling everyone else basement dwelling incels. i wouldn't talk like this to anyone in person hard man or not

Does it surprise you that I completely agree with this sentiment but that it's YOU that I consider to be the insane pretend hard man keyboard warrior banging on about "cultists" (still hard to know who this mythical group of people are beyond harry7 and a couple of others on here but whatever)...

And the more you slag off the Trophy while having dared to celebrate it the less I think of you.

Get this through you'r fucking skull - I am not even "Ange in". Im just a normal fan who gets on with other normal fans whether they are Ange in or not. I only have problems with people who post shite.

We also beat City away 4-0. Would we not take Pep either?

I think Frank would be a sound and sensible appointment. Not sexy, but honestly what we need right now. Sign me up.
May be sensible and we prbly all want Ange out but I think we need some proven quality. Same with transfer we don’t want or need Tel we need mbueno abd players like. For manager to me only one candidate in the PL and that is glassner. Also Frank may be a good coach but do we want to style again? Levy said when appointed Ange that he plays more in the Tottenham way although the Europa cup games would say otherwise. Is Frank going to play front foot attacking poccesion based football?

Ffs the hypothetical is a simple "yes". Who on earth wouldn't take a CL for the "cost" of a single year finishing 17th? It's... just nailed on so you're clearly not thinking rationally.

Obviously we would all prefer to finish top 2 and win stuff but why even bother asking that?

Come on mate

you got me unblocked shady stan?

You can play front foot football without playing two man defence that's highly exploitable on any given day.

We were solid under Poch, but it wasn't because we had some insane possession stats.

In fact, possession and too high a press (as in not tactical on when to press) can often lead to dull, non-winning football. Need to look at the AVB days to see that.

and i didn't say shit for a week either. you think you're going to run into a bunch of ange out talk while we're partying? again, the first post after the whistle here was one of you cunts rubbing our noses in it saying, "where the ange outers now?" since the beginning you lot are the fucking problem here blasting anyone who points out the problems as secret gooners and incels and vermin and anyting else you can pull out of your ass to attack and deflect. you're a miserable embarrassment and i'll party again when you and the fat cunt fuck off for good.

Why would you want less people following this club and call the manager- who won our only Euro trophy in 41 years- a "fat cunt"

you make unfounded, toxic below the belt comments about people for just having a different opinion. it would be one thing if it was a comment or two but you've been spewing all day on here and i guess i'm just the type who will push back. probably not smart on my part but it's who i am mate. now again, kindly fuck off

Personally i'd go Inzaghi, Glasner, Poch and Iraola before Frank. But as we know with our owners just because you're a big name with a good record it doesnt mean you'll be the right fit here.

How is Frank not a good manager???

What's going on here, bro?
Again it’s like with players. When the choice divides the fan base you know it’s prbly not right. Look at Tel many are unconvinced by him. However if we went got mbueno i bet nearly 100% of the fan base would be behind that and say yeah great signing. Players like Solanke, Johnson, oddbert etc all have a split opinion amongst the fan base. Same with Frank I’m not 100% convinced and certainly I do not think he is the best manager out there. Glassner would be first choice then look at some of the up and coming managers from Germany and Italy. I’d prbly take de zirbi over frank. Wouldn’t want silva at all not convinced by him at all. So im sure if we got a glassner most fans would be happy.

you should probably ignore me

fuck it edit: he's a fat cunt because he cupped his ear at his own supporters and confronted them multiple times and slagged us for not wanting to give the lot down the road the title. he's a miserable prick of a man who stubbornly plays shit football all the way to the bottom of the table and an embarrassment to me and many, many more. understand where i'm coming from now, mate?

Kids are driven by emotion (that’s why they need guidance) and it was the most emotional of experiences for all Spurs fans, old and young alike, so I can understand why some people want him to stay.

However when you break it down logically, IMHO it’s not the correct decision for the club.
they think they are right because they think kids would agree.......deary me, says it all.

The Butcher addressed our main flaw - basic defending - in the final few EL games and employed tier one blocking up.

He refused to do so in the league.

Amorim's EL performances were far more gutsy, competitive and resilient than his league performances, where he was making stupid, stubborn decisions that didn't work and kept persisting with them and his stodgy tactics.

The teams who would have dropped down, if it was the old format, would not have lifted the overall level of the comp by that much at all.

And, yes, the relegation form is unacceptable.

That's the key here.

Can't have it.

And trying to mug everyone off by saying that was the plan all along is one of the most cringe, desperate, rat-bastard things I've ever heard in my life.

The guy is a total scumbag.

I think Amorim is saved by the fact he's using a squad ETH managed to turn into a league one side. Calamity players all the way up the spine. Could swap the keeper and the striker and not notice.

This is Postecoglou's squad, 2 years in. Has had €447,450,000 spent on 16 players, which is basically a match day squad.
Poch had €439,980,000 in just over 5 years on 26 players
AVB had €195,800,000 over 18 months on 15 players
Redknapp was €127,200,000 on 18 players over just under 4 years

He's not really got any reasons to be thinking it is anyone's squad but his own, and it has cost a lot to put together

Yes. Unlike Mourinho, Conte, and Nuno, we gave Ange a "fair" shot in the context of the most competitive league in the world. Even when his form warranted a sacking in January.

One cup win does not negate 1.66 seasons of relegation form in the league.
