The point still stands though. He has won nothing. He has no experience of managing a huge club. He has no experience of managing teams competing on all fronts. Can we be certain, that he is an upgrade on a manager who, while I accept he delivered an abject league campaign, won this club its first European trophy in 41 years?
There's never complete certainty, however every single manager was once at the stage where they'd won nothing. Smart teams look at a managers tactical ability and man management skills to make their appointments, not how many trophies someone has won.
What had Poch won before we took him on? Absolutely nothing.

Imagine if PSG had the same mindset, that we only take managers that have won something...
However, they obviously looked at him and thought, 'He managed to get Tottenham to a Champions League final! He must have something about him'.

The same way we should look at Frank and recognise that he's built Brentford into a stable Premier League team despite the restricted finances available from a club that size. What trophies would we actually expect him to win with Brentford against Liverpool, Man City, Arse etc....

Just for the sake of of comparison: Ange across his entire managerial career has a winning percentage of 53% (783 games) compared to Frank at 45% (526 games). Now, Ange's win % at Spurs is 47% (101 games) versus Frank's win % of 42% (317 games which includes games at the Championship level whereas Ange stat does not). Utter madness if Levy goes for Frank.
Nicked from somewhere else.
Now look at last season.

Whatever side of Ange/Frank debate…. How in the fuck is it still not announced?

It's poor. It gets more and more impossible for the club to sell that they're 100 percent committed to Ange the longer this goes on if they decide to keep him. And it makes it a tougher environment for the new coach to walk into the longer they drag it out and let it fester.

Palace just managed it.

Yeah this is really fucking bad, imagine we can’t get a deal done for Frank and ange stays knowing we’ve been talking to other managers.

You either back him immediately after final or you have someone else lined up already to step in.

I get waiting a week after final but that should just be for an announcement, the deal for whoever comes in should already be in place if the final was going to have no bearing on his future.

Maddison needs a 4-3-3. He's not athletic enough for any other system. This was proven at Leicester when rogers could never find a role for Maddison whenever he reverted to a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 formation. Tielmans and N'didi were always first choice centre mids so Maddison would find himself competing with Barnes and Perez for the wide roles which he was not as effective in.

Maddison is an out and out 10 really. Can play the 8 role in a 3 man midfield too. He was able to play in the 3-5-2 formation when Iheanacho hit form and Rogers started two strikers for a period with Maddison having a free role in behind but once Barnes was back in the team, they found it very hard to find room for Maddison. Maddison would only play when Rogers did 4-3-3 bar that one period where Iheanacho hit fire for a 10 game spell.

I think we'll have same issue at Spurs. He can't play in a 2 man midfield and he is not athletic enough to play in a front 3. With Champions League and rotation he will still be used loads, but can imagine him not being part of Frank's strongest 11 and not part of any future plans.

In truth Maddison is a luxury player and not a player who suits pragmatic managers. Hence why Conte never wanted him. He is/was perfect under Ange where we always aimed to be on the front foot and always lined up with 3 in midfield and Maddison always being the most attacking.

Brentford looking for 15/20m and Ange is entitled to compensation in the 5m/10m bracket. Imagine this is the complication.

I'm hoping the Frank stuff is all nonsense but doesn't sound like it. Feels like the club have him selected and just working out compensations..

Don't know how reliable, but wasn't there some story about Frank having a release clause of 8 million? Doesn't change much about your point, because we will still try and be negotiating that down. But 20m to break a managers contract doesn't feel like something Tottenham would ever touch.
