I don't want my position here to get twisted by an internet tennis match - I would applaud him for not accepting this offer.
I think the Saudi regime are human rights abusers and we should drive them out of the sport, cut off diplomatic ties with their murderous government, and stop purchasing the oil that is the source of their wealth and influence.
I also definitely do not see money is the be all and end all. Personally, I would greatly wrestle with the idea of accepting a windfall of Saudi origin.
But, its also naive to think the base human instinct of self preservation and resource hoarding - something that almost all of history teaches us is the primary human drive - is so easily defeated. That's why I said it would take the morality of a Saint.
Personally, at the end of the day I'd probably justify that it'd be foolish to snub €22M, when I could use that money to do a lot of good in the world. I could sit here on my high horse and not take it, and also not be in a position to feed the hungry or house the homeless. Or I could just take the money and use it to make other people's lives better.
Not that that is what Inzaghi will do. He'll probably just buy an extra house and a big boat. But you'll never go broke betting on people's nature to take care of themselves.
