Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Window doesn't close until 1 September, so even in mid July, the window has been open for less than half the time - so no need to panic buy even in July.

Frustrating as it is, reality is there have been very few transfers done by anyone so far. Probably every decent player's agent is talking to half a dozen or so clubs trying to look for the best deal for their client,
I completely agree. We cant move quickly and early because the managerial situation isn't sorted. Plus, the clubs moving quickly all know what they needed and some of those clubs are huge, with settled managers and systems so can move quickly for the targets they want.

Its a frustrating reality to be in but Ange winning Europa and the players loving him threw a spanner in the works.

I think there is definitely a lot going on behind the scenes. But, as always its spurs and levy so decisions will take too long and be made wrongly.

I can see us being stuck in limbo until july, then scrambling around to make decisions and panic buy

In a trf window that closes 1st Sept; why d'f would anyone in their right mind "panic" in July?

.....Meanwhile the melts here are "panicking" in JUNE. :wall:

The fact you said " 'here we go' soon" a multitude of times (and eagerly credit other clubs for merely being linked even though our name's being attached to players too) just underlines how much you're drunk on BS ITK foolishness.

Get a pacifier or something..... or go for a walk.

There's merely 3 done deals in that big list, FFS.
Exactly. Wirtz for sure is a very difficult deal to do as they want huge money for a start. Plus, players become available which changes plans and clubs change their plans constantly. So much to happen until its done... look at Willian..

A rare air of common sense......

Brentford's transfer model, often referred to as "Moneyball," focuses on identifying undervalued players and maximizing their potential through data analysis and strategic development. The club prioritizes scouting players from lesser-known leagues or positions, then nurturing their talent and eventually selling them for a profit. This approach allows Brentford to compete with larger clubs despite having a smaller budget.

That would seem to be different to our own model (whatever it is) but something that Frank might expect to be part of a mix of what we might ve able to do in terms of buying at the higher end of the transfer market.

Add another to the list. BTW, have you been living under a rock? Still getting news by carrier pigeon?

Ever heard the technical term...snooze you lose? Snooze and lose is this clubs motto.

Buy low, sell high.

Glad we now have the term 'moneyball' for this fancy, modern idea.

I agree with you the Amanda Staveley and Saudi links of a minority investment into the club has been rolling 0n for 18 months - 2 years now.

No better time to sell 25% of the club from Enic than returning the club back into Champions league football with all the modern infrastructure fully in place

They don’t want to sell a portion of the club. If they did they’d have done it by now as they’ve been spinning that same line for twenty years.

That's the funny bit, everyone should be delighted with winning EL, but it does present 'complications' and 'uncertainties' , not only over the management but also players who only want CL (as CL clubs pay players more out of large CL earnings) might not have considered Spurs as a destination a month ago, but suddenly some will. And that may mean Spurs considering a group of much better players outside their original lists.

So much of Spurs preseason planning thrown up in the air, and some still coming down to land.

But even large clubs without those 'complications' are not moving that fast when measured by number of deals completed.

So I'd guess that 90% - 95% of all the transfers which will be done this window have yet to happen, and many players have yet to talk to the clubs they will end up joining. So atm, whilst a bit frustrated like everyone else the only thing to do is relax and wait for things to start to happen even if that's a month away !

And if nothing else to do the international matches are just starting - Odobert playing tonight for French u21's being the first match of a 2 week or so period

Naming rights has been even longer. The money lost in 6 years compared to accepting the amount less than Levy wants, how would they compare?
I heard it's been a bit of a blessing as it has increased the Brand of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, rather than it being a named arena like Uber Stadium or something.

I think that's why they made that statement of making sure we are announced as Hotspur or Spurs rather than just Tottenham
