I think he lost a lot of it in the 19/20 season tbh. He looked spent to me.Do people not think Poch has lost some of his aura since he was last here?
He left after an awful run of form. Hasn't really done a lot since.
Yet some can't wait to get him back.
If we have to rule with our heads and not our hearts for Ange, surely it's the same for Poch?
Not sure how anyone can seriously argue against this.I didn't call anyone a mug or state that we ought not bother winning it, it's just a simple fact that it's the number two European competition. We won it, I'm glad, well done to all, but it's still what it is.
You forgot millions celebrating at wee hours across half of the globe and another millions at the other side dancing into the evening. Stupid us in doing that, wasting our time.![]()
I liked Poch. Was sad to see it end the way it did but it was the right decision at the time.I think he lost a lot of it in the 19/20 season tbh. He looked spent to me.

I actually like Jose and think he's the hardest done by of our recent managers.
Did not like Conte but the bloke had proper issues personally so won't say too much against him.
I like Ange. Has brought us an amazing trophy and defends the club exactly how a fan would want our manager too.
All this is to say I'd keep Ange and give Jose another try before I even thought bout Poch of our recent managers.
Yep and turning up at the same restaurants together and even holidaying in the same places.I wouldn't put it past Brentford going with Ange if we get Frank.
Holy fuck you guys are so sensitive. People celebrate league cups and they’re a second tier domestic competition FFS! The conference league is third tier and 1.5 billion big spenders Chelsea celebrated it after beating half of Eastern Europe.
It is by definition second tier. Not sure why this reality should take away from the enjoyment at the time but also not sure why in a discussion thread this can’t be mentioned without shrieking banshees telling us we’re trying to play it down.
The whole point of this thread is pointlessly weighing up the pro’s and con’s of Ange’s time in charge. To do that honestly you have to actually put the Europa league in proper context. Sorry if this upsets or offends.
If he'd called it 2nd Tier no one would have batted an eyelid.
He called it 2nd rate.
He's minimising the achievement and we all know why.
Fair enough , I guess it is quite Ironic that after the Chelsea game with 9 men its "we only play one way mate" to us winning the Final with Jose ball - any how it doesn't matter as I would take that kind of win in every final we reach for eternity if it meant we won them all.we lost both of those
My take was it was the worst win I'd ever seen
How do you know that, did Poch tell you? How do you know Poch wasn't under pressure was that part of the conversation too - or was it just you're tiny brain putting 2 and 2 together and getting 360!Poch's priority was top 4 - above all else. There was no pressure to win anything, and no compromises made to try and win a domestic cup.
Our Champions League run to the final resulted in 3 wins from our final 12 league games as he rested players and played weakened teams in the league. It was only through shockingly bad Woolwich and United end of season run that we got 4th; and we were just a few points away from ending up 6th.
Two weeks ago today I was in Bilbao watching us win our first European trophy for 40 odd years.
That feeling isn't leaving any time soon.
I think with Poch , we would all just like to see what he could do with a bigger squad and having someone else buy the players , as for all the credit Poch deserves he signed off on some stinking transfers that can't just be pinned on Levy , getting GLC over Bruno Fernandes , I may be wrong but I'm sure we were linked with them both at the time and went for the Argentine.Do people not think Poch has lost some of his aura since he was last here?

I wouldn't want Poch back either but, comparing Poch with the clueless buffoon we have at the moment is insaneThis is pretty revisionist. Poch was talking himself away from the club late winter, league form collapsed (6 wins in the last 15) and players like Eriksen completely checked out mentally.
I’ll always love our time under Poch but we lost that CL final well before a ball was even kicked and we were only there because of some miraculous play by Moura.
Regardless of what was happening behind closed doors with Levy, he caused that. I wouldn’t want him back tbh.
If a manager can get top 4 with minimum spend then he is never getting sacked by those above us, we don't have the kind of owners that City and Pool do where top 4 is the absolute minimum for a manager, they demand trophies. How do you know that, did Poch tell you? How do you know Poch wasn't under pressure was that part of the conversation too - or was it just you're tiny brain putting 2 and 2 together and getting 360!
SO!! 4th just happens to be 13 places higher than 17th - that's hardly neglecting the league.
Will you just stop it- you don't have a leg to stand on and how stupid are you to compare Poch to Postecoglu its not even a contest.
Yeah agree with this.I think with Poch , we would all just like to see what he could do with a bigger squad and having someone else buy the players , as for all the credit Poch deserves he signed off on some stinking transfers that can't just be pinned on Levy , getting GLC over Bruno Fernandes , I may be wrong but I'm sure we were linked with them both at the time and went for the Argentine.
Ndombele and Sanchez as well, neither were the cheap option.
We seem to be getting better players last few seasons with the likes of Udogie, Bergvail etc , and I think Poch could work wonders with this current goup of players, but I still don't really think he has proved himself since leaving us.
I'm still not sure if i would go back down that route though, i'd rather try someone else , Glasner for me I think would be ideal , knows how to win and plays good football.
The trouble is whoever we get in is going to require patience from the fans as our squad needs a lot of work with it.
Nearly all the players have supported Ange now (and not just with platitudes).
But I'm sure the keyboard warriors know more about dynamics within the club.
