Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Do people not think Poch has lost some of his aura since he was last here?

He left after an awful run of form. Hasn't really done a lot since.

Yet some can't wait to get him back.

If we have to rule with our heads and not our hearts for Ange, surely it's the same for Poch?

I might be wrong, but imo he’s made some terrible career choices since he left us.

Poch's priority was top 4 - above all else. There was no pressure to win anything, and no compromises made to try and win a domestic cup.

Our Champions League run to the final resulted in 3 wins from our final 12 league games as he rested players and played weakened teams in the league. It was only through shockingly bad Woolwich and United end of season run that we got 4th; and we were just a few points away from ending up 6th.

What the fuck are you on about lmao, we tried to win two titles under Pochettino. The second attempt we got 86 points. We failed due to falling short not because top 4 was the aim. We also got to a cup final in his first season.

Yeah, because the CL is infinitely more energy and attention sapping than playing AZ and Bodo Glimt ya lemon. We played two legged ties against Dortmund, Man City and the Ajax that punked Juventus and Madrid.

And we didn’t finish anywhere near fucking 17th, which is the whole point.

Yeah agree with this.

Having read through the debate on here, I think I'd be happier with Glasner than Frank or Ireola.

My only issue is I can't reconcile the idea of getting rid of Ange after finally winning us a trophy.

Maybe it's heart ruling head. I'm definitely a hopeless romantic.

If they do keep him though, they have to back him and that hasn't generally been our way.
Yeah I'm the same, my head says if we give him another chance he will be gone by Christmas but my heart says how can we sack the manager who said he was going to win a trophy from the start and actually delivered.

Like you say though, regardless of who is in charge , the squad needs major surgery this window , serious investment is needed

Poch would be a bad move for all involved.
Look forwards not backwards.

He could still manage the women’s team.

Prof the gestapo boss from COYS says:

I’ve had several sources tell me that DL is making the decision on Ange and others tell me that he’s told VV to make that call.

Most of them expect a decision to be made by the end of this week, though we may not hear what that decision was until next week.

Multiple sources say we’ve been unofficially talking to Frank’s reps and have agreed an outline of the contract parameters, in case the decision is made to part with Ange.

I liked Poch. Was sad to see it end the way it did but it was the right decision at the time.

I actually like Jose and think he's the hardest done by of our recent managers.

Did not like Conte but the bloke had proper issues personally so won't say too much against him.

I like Ange. Has brought us an amazing trophy and defends the club exactly how a fan would want our manager too.

All this is to say I'd keep Ange and give Jose another try before I even thought bout Poch of our recent managers.
I agree with your previous post that Poch looked spent at the end of his reign but I don't blame him. The guy had been on the road for a couple of years, lost some fine players, got lumbered with the Winks Sissoko duo of doom and still got the very best out of what Levy gave him. PSG is a weird club but he went to that absolute mess of an outfit by the river and got them firing on all four cylinders again.

There isn't a universe out there where I'd take Mourinho back over him. Poch is made to get the best out of this squad.

He seems to be well respected in the locker room. They seem to want him to stay. Surely this gets taken into consideration
yes but no matter who the coach/manager is…….. Ange/Frank/Silva we ain’t competing in 4 competitions full throttle unless we get a significant squad upgrade and there’s one reason/person is in charge of that?
[/QUOTE]

Sure, the Levy/ENIC issue persists regardless of the coach. Ultimately, we’re going to require a coach that can improve the quality of play with most of what already exists with a handful of switches. CL helps us but doesn’t change how Levy acts dramatically.

from the turn of the year Jan 2019 we pretty much fell off a cliff in the league. Even games we won we looked poor

Literally limped over the line for top4 with a terrible Brighton team getting a point at Goons end of season

his reaction at the win Ajax looked like a man having a nervous breakdown

Dembele in the middle was a massive loss. I wonder if we could go back in time and tell Levy, Poch and Dembele what affect it would have had, whether he'd stay?
Obviously we didn't know we'd get a CL final, but the league form was already wobbly by December.

The Pochettino effect that a lot of fans hope for a repeat of and probably the board too is a pretty rare occurrence. the stars just aligned that time. Poch is a unicorn , eddie howe another

often with these lower rank prem managers who do well at small prem clubs with zero expectations, they just more often than not choke at a bigger prem club when teams play differently than what they're accustomed to, the expectation to win more games than they're accustomed to, the burden of it all etc. fails more than it works usually

Nuno
Potter
Sam Alladyce
Silva
Roberto Martinez
David Moyes
Dyce
Koeman

I wouldnt be confident of frank lasting more than 18 months , more like 6. home crowd will be immediately on his back if football isnt good/ lose a few games - wont be used to that
That is exactly what I said earlier although I think I plumped for 3 months... Brentford don't exactly play free flowing football... it's what I call industrial Scandi football... but that won't be enough for what we want and that is to compete with the big six or seven or eight or whatever it is now. Franks record against the big six (Us, Woolwich, Chavs, Bin Dippers, City and Europa League runners up) is PLD 48 - W10 D11 L27... not exactly inspiring... but what really worries me is that we did the double over them last season. I mean come on... we were shite for the majority of the season and Frank still couldn't beat us.

You have to take what the players say about their manager with a pinch of salt. When asked a direct question by a journalist or someone in the media about Ange, what are they supposed to say?
They may very well all be behind him but I personally doubt it

Why would you doubt it?

He just led many of them to the first major trophies in their careers.
