Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Yeah agree with this.

Having read through the debate on here, I think I'd be happier with Glasner than Frank or Ireola.

My only issue is I can't reconcile the idea of getting rid of Ange after finally winning us a trophy.

Maybe it's heart ruling head. I'm definitely a hopeless romantic.

If they do keep him though, they have to back him and that hasn't generally been our way.

Haven’t we already backed him up to £400 million?

Yeah, cause players are all astute, articulate and insightful.

Or

They quite like playing crossbar challenge all week then a kick about on the weekend where they don't care if they win or lose.
Come on now. We can all make things up but I think from the aftermath of the Europa win, it was incredibly clear how much the players value Ange.

All interviews mentioned how his belief helped them.
The players dragged him in to the trophy lift.

Of course, some will like him more than others, but it is clear that throughout a shit league season, the players stuck by Ange and they had every confidence in him.

They said this on the COYS Forum yesterday fwiw.
If Ange leaves this summer he will land on his feet somewhere else. The definition of "fairly big" clubs is also of course relative. The other day there was someone on here that posted a rumour of him being of interest for AEK Athens for example. Certainly a big club, but not relative to some other clubs.

The question is if that interest remains if he gets the start of the season and things go poorly.

Prof the gestapo boss from COYS says:

I’ve had several sources tell me that DL is making the decision on Ange and others tell me that he’s told VV to make that call.

Most of them expect a decision to be made by the end of this week, though we may not hear what that decision was until next week.

Multiple sources say we’ve been unofficially talking to Frank’s reps and have agreed an outline of the contract parameters, in case the decision is made to part with Ange.

Mate you are such an enigma - you shit over the SC ITK then regularly post it in here?

Why?

It does feel like its a 50/50 between keeping Ange and hiring Frank at this stage. Sounds like frank has beaten off all the other competition.

Sounds like the board have already interviewed Frank and want to give him the job. Paratici is definitely in the Frank camp anyway! While the players are very much behind Ange and probably pushing back against the board and club. We are all assuming Levy gets the final say but its hard to know if its all being left with him either. This new CEO might have a say in it too. Its rare that you get such a huge split between all the players and all the board members. Someone needs to make the decision and a lot of people won't be happy with the outcome either way.
Yeah, next season already feels like a car crash waiting to happen... if we keep or move on from Ange there will be a group completely dissatisfied and thus you create a divided club.

I think with Poch , we would all just like to see what he could do with a bigger squad and having someone else buy the players , as for all the credit Poch deserves he signed off on some stinking transfers that can't just be pinned on Levy , getting GLC over Bruno Fernandes , I may be wrong but I'm sure we were linked with them both at the time and went for the Argentine.
You are wrong. Poch wanted Bruno, but as with pretty much any of our managers first choice targets, Levy failed to get it over the line.

Bruno Fernandes transfer secret revealed by source at Tottenham, he cried

He is clearly a good man-manager and a motivator in these kind of situations. We saw it a bit in clips before he joined us. He has always been good at this stuff.

Players LOVE that stuff.

What most people have an issue with is the general coaching of players and tactical ability. So often in games you see 4-5 players all clustered together in the same space, passes inviting pressure, playing it out to the wings and then giving no out-ball so we lose possession, overloads in attack that mean just one stray pass resulting in a fast break against us etc. If we could combine Ange's man management and belief with a decent coach to take over the football details, maybe we'd get somewhere.

To a certain extent, that's what we got with Poch. He just couldn't get us over the line.

Could you send the time machine back to the point Levy sold Carrick please? :gallashmm:

Big mistake early in the ENIC era. But "apparently" that was a Comolli decision as he felt Zokora was better.
Than Carrick.
Apparently Carrick was happy to stay if we made his pay equal to other high earners we had too.

Also Kane and Dele got injured

we beat EFC 6-2 and then AFCB 5-0

January we were very unlucky with a 0-1 v MUFC at Wembley but after that it was pretty bad

Lost 4-2 to Arse and 1-3 to Wolves in December 2018. The Wolves one was a stinker.
Then there was the 0-1 home loss to an Ole Man United at Wembley that was all huff and no puff. I think players were looking worn out.
Even the CL wasn't all stars snd glitter. We nearly went out in the group stage.

I didn't say they were lying.
I question WHY they're behind him. Most players hate losing.

Brentford don't exactly play free flowing football.
proves that Frank is a pragmatist and will set out to win every match he plays

His BFC team finished twice in 3rd to much bigger clubs, and were top scorers every time.

He's too smart to be a one trick pony. give him a team with scorers and he'll play accordingly.

Made Ange look in eejit in the Euro summaries. Like listening to Einstein and then Liz Truss

but what really worries me is that we did the double over them last season.

Irrelevant. That match at theirs we totally lucked out with a 2-0.

In the home match tho I admit I was surprised at their tactics, felt they played into our hands.

But the tables don't lie - getting BFC to 9th and 10th with the lowest wage bill in the PL is a fantastic acheivment. They fell away badly in the Toney betting season, and they also had 11 players going in for operations, but they were never in danger of going down.

Cauliflowers fluffy and cabbages green
Strawberries are sweeter than any I've seen
Beetroots purple and onions white
All grow steadily day and night
The apples are ripe, the plums are red
The broadbeans are sleepin' in a blankety bed
Blackberries are juicy and rhubards are sour
Marrows are fattening hour by hour
Gooseberries hairy and lettuces fat
Radishes round and runner beans flat
The apples are ripe, the plums are red
The broadbeans are sleepin' in a blankety bed
Orangey carrots and turnips cream
Reddening tomatoes that used to be green
Brown potatoes in little heaps
Down in the darkness where the celery sleeps
The apples are ripe, the plums are red
The broadbeans are sleepin' in a blankety bed
🤣😂😂

Personally I like the idea of getting a replacement manager who has EPL experience, and has some knowledge of the opposition he is facing. At Brentford Frank has helped coach average players into good players. On paper we have a better squad than Brentford, we already have good players who Frank could turn into very good players.
Lets be honest football is a simple game played by fairly simple people, I include myself in that, most with gifted ability, I don't include myself in that!
What players need is to know exactly what is expected of them in their positional roles, and when things are not going to plan, to be told why they are not and what they need to do to correct it.
Frank seems to be a student of the game who more often than not can explain and tweak these things, then you have to rely on ability and football brain of those players.
Frank has helped coach average players into good players? Do you have proof... was it Frank or his coaches? Were these players already good and just needed a platform to showcase their talent. There is absolutely zero proof that Frank was on the training ground doing one to one coaching. I doubt any PL manager does any of that shit anymore.
On paper we have a better squad than Brentford. Do we? Because it cost more, doesn't mean it's better. I think this is debatable. Although we did do the double over them this season which really is an issue if you think Frank is the right man for us.
Frank seems to be a student of the game who more often than not can explain and tweak these things. Not sure about that. Hasn't done much tweaking and learning against the big six in his 4 years at Brentford. PL 10 D11 L27. 21% win percentage. Pretty poor. Even Ange is at 25% against the the five other members of the so called big six.

I think Frank is a good manager for a mid table side whose only goal is to retain it's Premier League place. His football is tough to watch, industrial at best. He will be under pressure for minute one and when we are mid table after ten games he will be getting abuse from us left, right and centre.
