Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Very good player though. Much better than their normal over the top expensive signings like Mason Mount.

Eze by a country mile
It’s the same argument of tel v mbeuno it’s the latter all day. Proven quality right age and PL experience. If we get those two plus a quality DM then I’m sure most fans would be happy.
Also who do we need KWP isn’t there a FB in the academy that would count as HG, don’t we have Abbott on loan. Bring hin back and develop him.

Anyone expecting us to behave any differently because we won a trophy are completely naive.

ENIC's MO won't change and never will.

- buy young
- take advantage of contract situation
- or negotiate all summer trying to drive price down on target with risk of losing out/wasting time

Winning the deal always takes priority over the actual need for the team in terms of getting a much needed target in.

We've seen this over and over again.

And of course we won't compete with wages so we're rarely sitting at the top table anyway.

I almost feel like we should merge this thread with the Levy out thread as the chronic lack of ambition sits nicely with most fans desire for him to depart . Also he will never show ambition and will never leave , hand in glove springs to mind

Exactly this.

If anything winning the Europa will give them their ammunition that their way works. Plus they've won a trophy now, they want care about that anymore. They'll go back to wanting top 4 only and sodding off the cups. They'll do the bare minimum to get us by and hope that others have a poor season for us to capitalise on.

I know it's only 5 days into the window, so we can't get too ahead of ourselves.. However City have already agreed 2 transfers which instantly improve them. Man Utd the same, Chelsea have signed Delap with another striker in the works to come in. We'll be left panicking for players and paying over the odds for someone we could have go a lot cheaper earlier in the window.

Jarrad Branthwaite rumours heating up. Could we use Richy/Biss to get it done.
Paper bollocks

We’re not spending big money on cover for van der ven, he’s unlikely to even want to come to be cover for van der ven and no chance we sign him to replace Romero (should he leave) as he’s left footed and we would be lining up with two left footed centre backs.

A lot of fairly decent points here but the most prevalent one is this "and hope that others have a poor season for us to capitalise on" this has always been part of ENIC's masterplan and in the past you only needed 2 of the big six to falter to guarantee Champions League. You could argue that Newcastle and Villa are now part of a big eight so you now need more teams to falter. This and their insistence that FFP will catch up with City and Chavs. Sadly, Levy is going to lose this bet but it won't stop him gaslighting us about the need to only spend what we can afford to comply with FFP. The difference between us and the Chavs is that they sell hotels to fund the first team and will scrimp on the first team to build hotels.

Correct. £100 million 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Good player but if they pay £100m for him then we might as well give up now. They already have 100m of transfer debt hitting their books this summer... you can't only kick that can down the road so far... I know they will pay 100m and put him on an 8 year deal so 15m hits the books but their net transfer debt is staggering and not sustainable.

I think the idea of 'cover' and 'backups' is what has Spurs in this mess to begin with. We tried to compete in 4 competitions this season and burnt out.

Spurs played 60 games this season. You can't do that with just Van Der Ven. A left footed CB signing for Spurs will be playing at least 20 games.

They can't do that. Amortisation has to be 5 years. There is an obvious reluctance to put meaningful spending restraints in place and after the collapse of the Super League and PSR, ENIC's model is basically Wimbledon with fans like Sugar's was.

Okay so they spread it over 5 years and 20m is added to the books this season... my point still holds. They seem to be more adept at funding the first team where will are more adept and under funding the first team.

I see people still dont know the difference between demanding and paying.

Bayern demanded 50m for Tel, did we pay it?

Chelsea have shown they will walk away if the price/Wages get out of hand. Sancho, Rodrygo, Osimhen, Williams etc...

Nobody is paying 100m for Ekitike.
