Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I see people still dont know the difference between demanding and paying.

Bayern demanded 50m for Tel, did we pay it?

Chelsea have shown they will walk away if the price/Wages get out of hand. Sancho, Rodrygo, Osimhen, Williams etc...
Look at the 4th word in my previous post. I think that is a clear indication that I know the difference between demanding and paying. Good grief!!!

And despite this, Spurs were the highest scoring team in the EPL for a large chunk of the season.

Not because of Solanke - and they finished the 6th highest.
They scored more the season before and had £65m more in the bank.

We play shit football when Johnson and Solanke are in the team.
Despite having a injury ravaged midfield in the final - we still should have done better than no shots on target - and we or any other team would have - with a better front three.

The most baffling thing about Solanke - is how fans want to watch a striker who's main attribute is chasing the other teams defenders.

Surely everyone can at least agree - he is an incredibly boring uncreative footballer - the most you are going to get out of him is a decent amount of tap ins.

The excuses made for him is we didn't create enough chances for him. Implicit in that iscwe signed a front three player who is completely incapable of doing anything unexpected - and scoring a goal with anything other than a very good chance - that's been put on a plate for him.

It's the very definition of limited - and he is not even a brilliant finisher - he misses a fair amount of good chances.

Good player but if they pay £100m for him then we might as well give up now. They already have 100m of transfer debt hitting their books this summer... you can't only kick that can down the road so far... I know they will pay 100m and put him on an 8 year deal so 15m hits the books but their net transfer debt is staggering and not sustainable.
It will blow up in their face eventually. He’s an ok striker at best but nobody will pay that for him. Delap is much better and more suited to the premier league.

I think the idea of 'cover' and 'backups' is what has Spurs in this mess to begin with. We tried to compete in 4 competitions this season and burnt out.

Spurs played 60 games this season. You can't do that with just Van Der Ven. A left footed CB signing for Spurs will be playing at least 20 games.
This is something I’ve always agreed with, however this is Tottenham and this is levy. We’re not spending 50 odd mil on someone to potentially play 20 games.

If implies there is a chance. Your hypothesis is implying they pay 100m/

The wont, and they are not.
No it's not... my hypothesis is saying IF they pay 100m... I'm not leaning one way or the other... but you on the other hand are categorially saying that a team that paid 121m euros for Enzo Fernández and 116m euros for Moses Caicedo won't pay 100m euros for Ekitike. Interesting logic.

I think you're being incredibly harsh on both players. I get it you don't rate them, but they've both contributed massively to a European Cup winning season. Johnson isn't a winger who is going to take on his man every time, but I bet he has a higher goal output than most wingers in the league.

Solanke should score more, but he works his arse off in terms of pressing. He's scored some vital goals for us as well.

Whoever was coming in to replace Kane was always fronting up an almost impossible task. Would you swap having Kane back now for not winning the Europa?

I said they are a significant reason we play shit attacking football.
Your quote that he should score more but works his arse of pressing. Proves my point.

He and Johnson are a very hard watch.
After Jose and Conte we were supposed to play entertaining football. Instead we have been mostly dross going forward. And it' was inevitable with those two as part of your front three.

I'd say the reason this season we have is because of the unavailability of a consistent line up. We had big wins against Villa, West Ham, City, United, Alkmaar. We scored plenty even when losing (6-3 to Liverpool, 4-3 to Chelsea) - It might not have been as open and attacking as you desire, but the attacking football was there.

The issue is that fans then said we were too attacking and needed to set up with a more defensive approach. It's always a change needed.

We had the worst of both worlds.
Our defenders pushed forward leaving us open at the back. Our attackers were not creative and in the case of Solanke expanded a lot of energy pressing.

Ange's philosophy is back to front and weird. He hasn't realised to play entertaining effective attacking football - you need creative players. And

Having defenders who are good footballers is welcome but not enough. And relying on them for your attacking play - leaves you too open

I don't think any STRs would have flourished with us this season. How many Balls passed actually left Solanke on a scoring position. I don't say he is brilliant but Ange Ball doesn't work for the team we have.

We need to get a move on, our rivals are all making big signings. Time for us to show our mettle in the transfer market

Utd have just signed Cunha, Chelsea have sealed the deal for Delap
