Management Thomas Frank

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I expect any European football is the league expectation for Frank with decent player investment.

Did the club not give Postecoglou significant resources to do his job? He won the Europa League after all.

There won’t be decent player investment

The club gave Postecoglou a slashed wage bill 2 seasons in a row and 3 teenagers in season 2 with the expectation to integrate academy kids. He himself said he was building a team for 5 years and the club seemed to be on board with it.

When everyone saw that using teenagers for depth in the PL gets you in trouble, Levy and Lange threw him under the bus and acted like they were never part of this idea to build a team for 5 years.

Winning a trophy happened despite the club, not because of it.

You can't give a manager a directive of bringing through the youngsters and then when he puts it in place - pull the rug on him .

We would need a hell of a window to start competing for top 5 places . We can’t afford to lose VDV for 3/4 of the season ,a number 6 is a must - we need better options in the attacking 3rd , most notably a number 10 and 2 wide players , back up for Solanke . I just can’t see us solving that in 2 windows . It’s an 8th- 10th squad currently imo . Most importantly we can’t be buying youth , we need ready made starters .

There’s no guarantee that Frank will get top 4 next season. Some of the clubs that ended in the European places last season, have already started strengthening their squads for next season .

We will have to see how much we have strengthened our squad when the TW closes before we have any idea how our final position in the PL may pan out.
Obviously there are no guarantees in football (well, apart from Ange always winning a trophy in his second season), but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a new manager to improve upon the previous one who was sacked for supposedly underperforming.

Especially when a sizeable portion of the fanbase claim he was our worst manager ever.

Man on a mission to deceive and destroy. Relentless.

All, pray at the deliverer Pstecoglou.

Strewth.

400m is decent enough investment. We were favourites for the Europa League for a reason. Can talk about wages I get it but it's still good enough to not be 17th even with injuries.

Everyone saw it but Postecoglou was happy with it, worth remembering Postecoglou was also happy with letting experienced players like PEH leave.

400m is just a number.

Look at what it went on and more importantly the wage bill, which you conveniently ignored.

Ange was happy to go along with the plan to build a team for 5 years. He overestimated Levy and Lange when it comes to integrity. That was his mistake.

Let’s hope Frank is a bit smarter with the club and keeps the pressure on them

oh give it a rest you’re one of the biggest idiots on here. it was unnecessary language from me but it’s in response to an ange troll’s incessant posting. my point was that the ange argument is over and pointless. i wasn’t just being offensive for the hell of it. either way, i’m finished with the term i used and i’ll just ignore the idiots like you. don’t bother responding. i won’t see it

Yes, yes, youre inability to not use unnecessary language is everyone else's fault 🙄

Already writing off another season.
You're right, what we want is instant success. In his first season, if he doesn't deliver at least a trophy and a top 4 finish against more settled squads, with bigger budgets then he should definitely be sacked.

What we shouldn't do is follow Man City, when Pep invested heavily in his first season and won nothing for the first time in his career, he should have been sacked straight away. Man City really F**ked up there.

I Didn't ignore wages, I mentioned them. what have we got the 7th highest in the league? Why are we 17th.

If you don't see significant progress you get sacked. It's simple.

Postecoglou doesn't improve young players. Have no idea where the idea that he does came from, nothing in his previous work suggests this.

Because Ange supporters, have been told repeatedly that Postecoglou is a pub team manager, who is way out of his depth in the Premier League.

We've also been told that Thomas Frank is a "proper" manager, so it's not unreasonable to expect him to outperform Ange is it?

For the record, I'd be fairly happy with the scenario you've outlined above, albeit pretty astonished too. I personally don't think Frank will do anywhere near that well.

I'm not sure how Daniel Levy, would feel about it though.
Fair enuf on the Ange hate - Anyway rightly or wrongly he's gone so let's see how Frank does ...

and hopefully the rumors are true and Levy gets ousted/has a much diminished role with the new CEO and Lewis man on the Board running the show. Lewis will still keep things cheap but hopefully, not as much as incompetence on the footballing side.

It's not an 8-10th squad, it's a 5-8th squad on par. We wouldn't have said its a 10th place squad at the start of last season and its hardly changed.

Harry Vaginola Harry Vaginola had the good grace to apologise, so we'll let it go.
I get that some people are glad that Ange has gone, but no need for personal insults against him or people who appreciate that he's delivered a long awaited trophy.
However an apology is worthless if lessons aren't learnt.
People can't keep using abusive language on here and then saying 'sorry' afterwards like that makes everything better.
There are certain posters on here that take delight in offending others, but in this instance, hopefully we'll see a behavioural improvement.
