Unfortunately we’ve seen it all the way through history, but obviously on a much larger and more terrifying scale.I don't want to be mean but isn't it kind of genuinely scary how easily charismatic leaders are able to enchant people with fools gold. It was always there right in front of their eyes. The poor coaching the incoherent messaging the obvious flaws in the ACTUAL soccer. Yet here they are still tilting at windmills. I think the implications for wider society are terrifying. We were building NOTHING under Postecoglou.
We would need a hell of a window to start competing for top 5 places . We can’t afford to lose VDV for 3/4 of the season ,a number 6 is a must - we need better options in the attacking 3rd , most notably a number 10 and 2 wide players , back up for Solanke . I just can’t see us solving that in 2 windows . It’s an 8th- 10th squad currently imo . Most importantly we can’t be buying youth , we need ready made starters .
It will say a lot about Frank if we sacrifice the Carabao & FA Cups.
I personally want to see us go all out for the FA Cup.
But why did this team get 30 points less than the season before? No manager is making up those extra 30 points with this squad. Whoever they are. Bring any manager in Eze and Mbuemo as a start. We need investment all over the park to get any higher than 6th and that’s not to say I think the squad is too bad, it’s just very shallow and I think in the CL we will get embarrassed.
Lol! I wish!which bit dont you understand?
- the last 26 matches we only got 19pts
- that's nailed on relegation form over a season
- only won 2 (TWO) home matches from Nov onwards
- relegated Saints (the worst team in PL since Derby in 2007)
- and the worst MUFC team since 1974 (before you were born it sounds like)
We actually drew against Rangers. The thought of Ange managing us when we play some REALLY good European teams (ie not Rangers, who battered us, remember?) fills me with horror.
We beat City in the League cup too. Talking of Champions League teams, we also beat Aston Villa 4-1. And I get why you're not including Man Utd as CL calibre, but we beat them 4 times last season, which is something that's never happened before in my lifetime. His record last season against CL type teams was a shitshow
LFC:
3-6
1-0
0-5
0-4
AFC urgh
CFC urgh
NUFC urgh
City a 4-0 win
We actually beat Tamworth as well.
Sigh! Do I have to? I hate doing maths!- 5 wins in total since Nov
- 3 of which were against relegated teams
This isn't mid table mediocrity - this is critical relegation fighting falling off a cliff.
Do some fucking Maths and work this lot out for yourself.

Is that why they modelled the South Stand on the ‘Yellow Wall’ at Dortmund?
You let your hatred of Levy colour the vast majority of your posts.
Well, lets turn that round then. If we had lost to Man. Utd. in the final, but finished higher in the league, say 10th-12th? Is getting to a Semi-Final, and a Final, while finishing mid-table especially given the injury crisis a successful season?
Given that people here are seemingly going to be happy if Thomas Frank manages that, then that must be the case. Therefore it was surely worth sacrificing a couple of league places to get the monkey of not winning a trophy off our back?
Okay then, as you've rightly pointed out the league form was dreadful last season. 38pts from 38 games which is... wait a minute... I can do this... 1 point per game, right?
Now that is, let's not beat around the bush, abysmal. But there are extenuating circumstances.
Even if we do that, it will be against good Premier League sides, not shite from the Europa league.
It's harder to win a domestic cup than the Europa league.
As proven by Us, Chelsea and West Ham all having a European trophy as our most recent wins.
This could be a sign as to whether Levy the leopard has changed his spots.
So how did we do in the cups? Spurs played 22 cup games, winning 15, drawing 3, and losing 4. If we extrapolate those results to a league season of 38 games using 3pts for a win, 1 pt for a draw etc. it works out at (Ugh, god, more maths!) just under 83pts. To put that into context Liverpool won the Premier League with 84pts.
It was £14m to get Slot and all his coaches. If it’s £10m for Frank plus a sum for the coaches then I think it’s highly unlikely levy pays out. If we do then it’s probably a solid sign that the rumours levy is being moved away from the decisions.
I feel that the trophy thing is a bit of a red herring.Ange's trophy win feels a bit like the end of The Exorcist where the priest defeats the demon by letting it possess him and then throws himself out of the bedroom window.

“The decisive factor was playing the Champions League,” the 44-year-old said. “The fantastic work with the staff and the players, the fact that I’m having a great time privately and being able to build on the past two seasons.
“I didn’t know what would happen [with Tottenham]. I weighed everything up, including whether the people who work with me would want to come with me.
“You can think of it, but I don’t think it’s chic to say! But my intention is to stay, because that already raises an expectation.”
