Management Thomas Frank

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Frank was a smarter choice than Iraola
It always bothered me a few months ago that Iraola was spoken about by some as the only choice. He was a potential choice who happened to have a lot of momentum around him in February/March. I also think that he won't ever be as hot as he was then.. Not saying he's not a good coach. But we see this kind of thing sometimes. Managers can have a short window where they have all the hype around them. Then they don't get the move in that moment. And then they never quite get the big move we thought they were going to get.

Brentford: "10 mil"

Levy: "9"

Brentford: "Okay, 9 it is"

Levy: "8"

Brentford: "Okay but this is our last offer"

Levy: "5 mil payable over 8 years, no vig...and you pay for the movers and put down the 3-month deposit for his new place"

Breaking news: Thomas Frank will NOT be Tottenham's new manager after the clubs failed to come to an agreement over his release clause.

Club statement: "We are disappointed that Brentford moved the goalposts at the last moment. We would never jeopardize the club's future by spending money we do not have. Our decision regarding a new, ambitious appointment will be made public soon."

Breaking news: Steve Bruce to become new Spurs manager on pay-per-point deal.

Really excited about this appointment.

I really do think he is exactly what we need.

Arguably the best pound for points manager in the PL.

The best thing about him is he will look at the squad and work our tactics and game plan suited to get the best out of the them. He will adapt, he will tweak things regularly, and he will customise tactics dependent on the opposition. He won't just play one way and say "this is who we are" when we get battered.

You won't get Frank saying "We didn’t deserve, on our second-half performance, irrespective of subs or anything else, to get something out of the game. If you do get something out of the game, you’re falsely rewarded and I don’t want to get falsely rewarded." this nonsense that Ange came out with.

He really could be a special manager for us.

He has all the tools a moden manager needs, and I think his comunication is excellent. There won't be no philsophical ramblings, grandstanding and all that shit we had to put up with the last 2 years.

SO excited about a new season, new manager, new backroom staff, new era. Bring it on.

I think you'll see a massive upturn in consistent form in the likes of Bentancur,Sarr,Udogie whilst getting the absolute best from the likes of Maddison,Bergvall,Gray Solanke. This is an intelligent football coach coming in here. We massively underperformed last season domestically and I think he'll install some pride back into our league performances and get us puffing our chests back out when it comes to playing rival games like Woolwich,Chelsea and West Ham again instead of expecting the worst.
Gonna need to weed out the dickheads, first.

Alright, that's one.
Was it his fault a penalty was given after 30 seconds or the Champions League final?
Was it his fault on 2015 we played Chelsea after an away game in Europe against Champions elect Chelsea who had the whole week off?
Was it his fault in 2009 that we played a good, Fergie led Man United side and lost on penalties?
And what about losing in ET to Portsmouth in the FA Cup semi final? Or half a dozen other FA Cup semi finals?
Was it his fault the rules changed in the league cup and we lost on penalties against Chelsea instead of progressing on away goals? (First season it happened)

Levy is obviously a problem. We'll never see consistent success with him.
But despite that, we should have won more in the time he's been here than we actually have.
The Summer Window before the CL final, we become the only team ever not to sign any players ,

I do agree that we should have won more and Levy can't take all the blame as we are getting to the finals , so its a 1 off game, I do feel though he will just do whatever he thinks is enough in terms of spending etc to get us to compete for Top 5 , now we are in the new stadium I would actually like us to start acting like a big club and if finishing 17th wasn't a wake up call then I don't know what is for Levy.

No manager is making up those extra 30 points with this squad. Whoever they are. Bring any manager in Eze and Mbuemo as a start. We need investment all over the park to get any higher than 6th and that’s not to say I think the squad is too bad, it’s just very shallow and I think in the CL we will get embarrassed.
Why not though, the only reason we finished 17th is because Ange was out of his depth and nothing but a Sunday League pub manager........ We are sacking Ange as he under achieved, surely the expectations of Frank are Top 5 as a bare minimum ?

I will give him a chance.

Not going to pretend he was my first choice though.

The bottom line is, without serious investment this window I think there is a good chance he is hounded out by Christmas.

Top 8 maybe. Seriously going from 17th to top 5 is a lot in one season.
We could easily compete in a domestic cup but CL might be tough with this current squad.

I think his main problem is dealing with over expectation because half our fan base is so clueless they think we have world class players like Kulusevski and err Brazil’s number 9. We don’t. This squad is very average in all truth.

I will probably eat my words but with how ENIC run the club a flexible manager like Frank is probably the best fit similar to a Redknapp style appointment. Our squad will always be a bit square pegs rounds holes and this is probably for the best.

We need to Spend, if we can get A decent 6 , Eze and Mbeumo then I'd be quite excited for the new season.

I've been watching Iraola teams longer than most. It's telling to me that Rayo Vallecano got better after he left. I think he's a good coach for the PL because that style will always be able to get enough points for a team playing once a week. Their drop off from people saying Champions League qualification, to missing Europe altogether wasn't unexpected IMO.

Ironically, they are exactly the type of team to take points off a Frank team that is playing twice a week but I still think Frank was a better choice for us out of the PL proven coaches.

The squad isn't strong enough to compete on all fronts. You can't rest players for Champions league games unless you want to get embarrassed. I don't see us finishing top 10 as it stands without serious investment.

Either the best or the worst. Frank not having a clear identity could make him better able to make it work with our priority for signing players because of the financials but it could also make them relax and recruit an even more incoherent, directionless squad where the financials become EVEN MORE important than the player profile.

Only time will tell but Frank is definitely a good coach and in that Eddie Howe type of mould where the outcome should be reliable.

People are talking like changing the manager also meant that we've sacrificed the europa league trophy.. We haven't.. The great thing is, we get to keep the title, the trophy, the glory and the memories and still see the way the wind had been blowing for 18 months, and go in another direction. We get to have our cake and eat it.

Spot on. We won the Europa and Ange was sacked, it's the best case scenario possible out of a wretched season.

We've had to put up with the Ange cultists now telling us all he's a winner, and is amazing and should never have been sacked, all complete bollocks, but it's a small price to pay.

It seems that Thomas Frank and his team are going to start their time at Spurs with a fair amount of good feeling from the fans.
