Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Can't wait for Club World Cup to begin - it will mean both ManCity and Chelsea have finished all (or most if not) of their buying (which drives up prices as both throw money around like its gone out of fashion) which has had to be done early for the players to be eligible to play in Club World Cup.
The window is open early between Sunday June 1 and Tuesday June 10 due to an exceptional registration period for the expanded 2025 Club World Cup.

The 2025 summer transfer window will then open again on Monday June 16 until Deadline Day on Monday September 1.

This is a problem in our fanbase.

We’ve been so conditioned by Levynomics that we’re debating which one out of 2 completely different players we should sign.

Why the debate? Because they are both established PL and international players who will cost the going rate and Levy’s model only allows for one player like that per window.

What’s the point in the protests if the fans are self-perpetuating this for him?

It is both. Especially if Son does leave.

Serious clubs would push to bring both in. Then you have both wings covered for 3 or 4 seasons.

Only reason Branthwaite is a possibility is because Everton are keen on Richarlison so could see a deal there where Spurs need to cough up an extra 20m on top.

Honestly not sure its a great move for Branthwaite. His best position is LCB and he's not taking that role off VDV, so he'll be looking at being a squad player who will play loads but often after left back or RCB too.

Great deal for us though if we get him! This is the type of squad depth we need! But just can't see him agreeing to come here. He'll have other big clubs looking at him who could offer him a guaranteed LCB starting spot. Newcastle for example, he walks into that position over Dan Burn. Maybe if we sell Romero then we could offer him more of a guarantee but he's left footed so not sure he'd be starting RCB over Danso. I hope he sign him anyway!

VDV's hamstrings are made of cheese now though because of Angeball, so I dont think there is any harm in Branthwaite. I know he plays left side, but I'm not certain he is actually left footed (a bit like Guehi who it seems to have gone quite on. I reckon he will end up back at the chavs).

Yup, you are on ignore for the summer as well. Boring cunt

You and twitter is a marriage made in hell, fella.....

Would be a miracle if Levy signed two £60m + players in the same transfer window. It just doesn't fit the youth project.

Maybe if we are really lucky he might sign one of them (I'd prefer Eze), maybe a couple of 25m players and a couple on a free. Just can't see Levy changing course for one season in the CL.

The last 2 years we've averaged about 120-130m quid (net) per year spent without CL.

Doesn't the window close tomorrow until 16th June? Seems weird to bother closing it for just 6 days!

It opened unusually early to assist the 2 clubs going to Club World Cup to register players.

Under fifa rules the window can only be open for a maximum amount of time, hence closure and re-open. No club should be inconvenienced by closure as the 2 clubs will be at Club World Cup, and as its only registration for next season for the rest of us,

Deal-brokering & negotiations will continue behind the scenes in the interim anyway.

That's why in my post I stated 'registration'.

deal broking and negotiation can happen at any time - even during the season.

Sadly this is due to fifa/uefa/fa/media calling it a 'transfer window' when its more accurate (but less exciting perhaps) to call it a 'registration window'

So why not close it until the normal 1st July then? Seems weird just closing for 6 days.

It's just at throwback to the times where people pretended tapping up didn't happen.

Mad to think people were still threatening legal action for such things just 6/7 years ago.... Now all pretense has magically been dropped.

They have gone for the maximum time it could be open, and I guess to minimise advantage gained by 2 clubs in negotiating with players.

If it had been closed until 30 June (as you suggest) there could be cases where a player decides against Chelsea/Man City and wants another PL club, but is left hanging around for several weeks for deal to be registered. So player and club left frustrated not being able to legally 'close' the transaction
