Are you ever going to add anything to the conversation other than 'not one brick' ....... mind you with that success probably better not to bother !

On Collins - he’s excellent in the air, durable, hard nosed, proper PL CB. Fine player. But imo not really an upgrade on Danso at all (possibly Radu, I’m not sure how he’ll recover from that injury). He’d be decent I suppose, but imo less concerned about the player and more what it tells us about Frank’s assessment of our squad.

What it would signify to me is Frank wanting to play more of a Back 3. Micky was born to play that LCB role and Romero the RCB imo. Could be a telling link about our tactics.

Even More so If Sonny is off as well , I get we have a wage structure but if you want to compete at the top you need to pay the top wages.

Son and Romero probably two of our highest paid, so if they both leave there are well paid positions available for the right candidates, and if they both come with Frank that's probably fine on all sides - although I'd doubt if Collins would justify a top wage ?.

It is honestly crazy if we are cheaping out on our Mbeumo offer if we could land him for £50k or so more per week. Massive opportunity for us to land a genuinely elite player in a position we are weak in.
He's good but elite?

As far as I can see, the season just gone is the first time he's reached double figures since 2019, when he was in the Championship. His assists are ok, but for a bit of context, Johnson has 22 goals and 14 assists in all competitions (50 games). Mbuemo has 20 goals and 8 assists (41 games), yet Johnson gets dogs abuse on here.

I think it's a stretch to label Mbuemo as "elite."

He's very good, potentially in time elite. The ideal spurs buy in terms of stage.

The difference with brennan needs to be whether he's good with the ball at his feet and creating, especially when we're controlling possession. Does anyone know?

Nathan Collins is not exactly the WOW moment that tells the fans that the new man wants to take us to the next level.

Given squad numbers, he'd be a Romero replacement as well.

Difficult to say really, unless you watch him week in week out. The stats only tell part of the story, but his don't really make you sit up and take notice, apart from the season gone which, as I've already posted are pretty much on a par with Johnson.

He may well go on to be elite, but he may well revert back to the norm, which has been pretty ordinary/poor previously.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, as some players mature later than others. It's those that are insistent that we MUST have him that'll be the first wanting him pushed out the door if he doesn't set the World on fire.

I'm not saying pass on him, but I do have reservations on whether he's just had the season of his life and we end up buying a pup.

You can’t just look at the numbers when you analyse a player. Johnson has become a good predator from 6 yards out but he is virtually non-existent in build up play. Can’t dribble, can’t really pass or cross with any quality, doesn’t shoot from more than 10 yards out. He is not dangerous when in possession of the ball. Mbuemo is.

Going from Romero to Danso/Collins/Dragusin playing out from the back is such a downgrade, even VdV I wouldn't call him that great at playing out either.

The club need to ensure that if Romero goes we need someone of his calibur on the ball...they won't though.

Gross. Yeah we need to be doing much better than that if Romero leaves.
Depends if it allows us to then get Mbeumo or Eze etc.

VDV, Danso, Dragusin, Collins is a stable enough base for Frank to build from.

Romero only came good near the end of season.

I remember all the games he was dashing out into midfield and not recovering on turnovers, leaving massive holes for the oppo to run into and people were absolutely furious when it led to goals.

Some interesting comments about him in reply to this tweet.

Player like Romero was absolutely crucial for what Ange wanted to do. He was a deep lying playmaker at time.

if settling for Collins also allows us to buy Branthwaite, I think that makes the squad better

Collins is just as good as Branthwaite. Surely you haven’t fallen for the Branthwaite propaganda have you? If we pay £70m for that just pack the club up and go home, it would be an egregious waste of funds.
