You must be in the minority , not meaning that as offensive at all, but you only had to see the fans at the trophy parade to see what this meant to people, for me it wasn't even about qualifying for the Champions league, it was finally seeing our club captain lift a European Trophy, this was for all the times we have come close but couldn't get over the line, I think as well being as the season was so shit this was literally for the club a lifeline, a chance to save the season, I also don't get all the "Trophy Snobbiness" so to speak, you can only win what competitions you are in and you can only beat the teams you play, Granted its not the Champions league but its still a prestigious cup.

This is what football is all about, I have done a lot of drugs in my life , but when the final whistle went against united that feeling was better then any of them, its sad that other fans didn't experience such Joy as moments like this in football are few and far between for Spurs,

Yea, I don't argue here. I do think I am in minority in the way I felt.
I even watched part of the victory parade and I felt happy for the fans enjoying them to fullest and also for players.

But it was not just this total and untainted kind of joy I have been waiting for all those years. I was SO very pumped up when we were fighting with Leicester for title and also in 2019 when we got to CL final. I remember those emotions very clearly. Looking at all the context the same feelings were never there for this season EL run.

Of course that part is true that you can only win the competitions you are in. But I mean... we were (and are still) in EPL too. I am not suggesting that we should have played all half-fit players in the last game before the final - not that. But the way we totally surrendered lot higher level competition games was just ... weird for me. But again, I do think I am in minority and I am happy for my fellow-men who got such a kick out of it as you described.

Well... I have to say, I feel un-sorry (i guess that means happy) for you.
Without irony.

I have been Spurs fan since 2009. So it was first time ever I saw us lift a trophy.

And try as I may, I could not dumb it down enough to feel that pure kind of joy I had been waiting this whole long time.
Cause I cannot unsee that the teams we had to overcome were mostly absolute garbage. Most would hardly survive in Championship.
Of course I wanted us to beat ManU in the final! I always want Spurs to beat the team we play against. And I love that it gave us the chance to play in Champions League next year. But it was always on top of my head even when the final whistle went that... what did we win? Whenever someone said "we are champions of Europe" i literally cringed. Because this is lightyears from it. At best we were Championship (meaning Division 1) winners of Europe. Cause all of the biggest teams play on higher level. And it all came as direct result of fully giving up competing on really high level of the game.

But again - happy for you if you can convince yourself that we were the best of the best and Champions of Europe and everything along those lines. I do actually think that such kind of ability to simplify things might mean more overall happyness in life.
Can't blame you. Your support only started at Redknapp era. Those who started way before wouldn't be taking winning a cup that much of a granted (not saying you are, but every finals we been at, you know, any win will do) if you have seen through the 90s.

Did any of those who keep saying this wasn't a poor competition give West Ham credit and take them serious when they won the Conference League?
Or are you just massive fucking hypocrites?

Cause one things for sure, the Europa League is a damn sight closer to the Conference league in quality than the Champions League.

Yeah I don't buy the "Ange threw the PL for the EL" narrative, we were just absolutely shit in the PL , I didn't agree with Levy's sacking of ange at first but I can 100% see why he done it now, its important not to get caught up in the emotion I guess.

I'm actually really looking forward to what Frank can do ( if he comes) I have said for ages we actually have a very good squad of players, excited to see what he can do with them and how ambitious of a manager he is!

I'm not saying we shouldn't be happy and shouldn't celebrate. 17 years I'd celebrate almost anything. I went to the Brighton game because I wanted to see them with the cup etc and couldn't get there on the Friday.
I sat through loss 22 and one of the worst performances I've seen in a while.

But, all that said, we shouldn't convince ourselves that winning the weakest competition we were in, by some distance, is an indication we can win better competitions going forward. Especially with the prior coach who really couldn't win games against good/medium level sides.

Cause I cannot unsee that the teams we had to overcome were mostly absolute garbage. Most would hardly survive in Championship.
To be clear, United and Eintracht Frankfurt would canter to the title in the Championship, AZ would be strong favorites for promotion, and Bodo/Glimt would easily survive and who could doubt their ability to make a promotion push themselves.

Europa League haters are a bummer to me, but they have to be factually accurate at a minimum.

Just grateful he chose Spurs. Surely he's been eyed by other big clubs and he held out all this time and now chose Spurs. I had my initial doubts, but the more I learn about him the more I'm liking him. Like someone here already said, a proper man and human being. COYS, don't fuck this up!

:sonlol:

I was in Bilbao loved it and got wasted , felt rough for about 3 days including at the parade but I wouldn’t have missed it for the world .

I don’t support Spurs for the glory but I absolutely love it whenever we deliver it . If one looks hard enough you can find a way to belittle most achievements if that is one’s mindset . Pretty miserable existence looking for a reason not to celebrate .

I can only liken it to someone who wins 200 million on the lottery and says, I am still going into my job and staying in my house, I will continue to drive my 18 year old Vauxhall car as well . Why did you do the fucking lottery in the first place .

Nobody does the lottery expecting to win , but I would expect people to enjoy the win

I actually sort of do believe him. There was a major lack of effort from players in the league games, and the closer we got to the final, the more we left key players out.
I just don't agree it should have been done. At least not to that extreme where in the games either side of Frankfurt, Bodo and United were like those I'd expect in the FAC 3rd round Vs Tamworth. And that didn't do well.

Part of the reason I got my season ticket was to get to finals in person.
Since I got it, we have had the 2019 CL final - not enough points by single digits, £1,200 flights and £500 for a bunkbed with a seriel killer. 2020 league cup final - covid behind closed doors. 2025 EL final - £1,200 flights + accommodation, plus lost points so was down about 20 IIRC.

Pep Guardiola predicts Thomas Frank’s move to a bigger club

He said as relayed by BBC Sport: “They [Brentford] are an extraordinary team. What they do always makes sense. Every corner is a headache. They are compact. This season, they have a high press. Thomas is one of the best.”

When asked whether he was surprised Frank had not already landed a job at one of Europe’s elite clubs, Guardiola replied: “It is just a question of time. I am good in a few things, one of which is reading when the manager is good. It is going to happen.”

Guardiola’s insight shows what Spurs can expect from Frank

Pep Guardiola’s comments about Thomas Frank also give Tottenham fans an idea of what they might expect should the 51-year-old Dane take the reins at Spurs this season.

The Spaniard was quick to point out that Brentford were one of the toughest teams to face, not only well-organised and physical, but also tactically adaptable – capable of playing direct when needed, yet comfortable building out from the back with a pressing game.

He added: “I am a big fan of Thomas Frank. I do not remember in eight or nine years having a team play the way they played.

“We were lucky with the deflection because they deserved 1-0. We struggled a lot to read when to shoot and press. We were lucky to find the goals but in the second half we were better and probably deserved to score more goals.”

“We needed that to feel how difficult everything is, how difficult the Premier League is every game. People say City are so strong but the Premier League is so difficult.

“Today was the real proof. I am a big fan of Brentford. They play long balls but they have the ability to play as well. I give a lot of credit to my players, from where we come from in the past but to still be able to suffer. I prefer to win that way than four or five nil. We need that.”

I am continuing to enjoy Bilbao whilst remaining adamant that I want to see a change of ownership . The reality is I only have control over the first bit so I am making the most of it and simply hoping for a miracle on the second bit .

My loathing of Levy and ENIC remains in place but my dislike of them and my frustration with Ange ( now irrelevant) can hibernate a little longer .
