He might not be polished but Gray cost £40m at 18 with zero PL experience. You have to add about £10 - £15m to that £50m because he counts as homegrown in the PL and Europe.
It’s an obligation with the loan it is not an option by the sounds of it . Does not matter how he plays just defers it being permanent unless there are performance metrics . I cannot see why Bayern would agree to a performance related obligation though .

Bayern need to cut into their salary budget to retain some more established player and be able to buy some new ones.
I think that they've just decided that they don't have the time to develop Tel and are willing to cut him loose.

I really think Frank could get a tune out of Tel and if we can do another loan deal I’m all for it.
If it’s a hefty permanent fee I’m less certain.
That's more than he's worth IMO.
I'm not totally unwilling to consider buying him, but the price should be reflective of the player we've seen in England, not the hype from two years ago.
