Management Thomas Frank

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Unless we invest significantly in the squad, Frank (or Ange, or Mourinho, or Conte, or Superman) will not be able to get us above our ‘wage par’ on a consistent basis. Our ‘wage par’ has slipped a couple of places in the last 2-years from 6th to 8th. Let’s set our expectations once the window has closed, and the squad for 25/26 complete. But with Newcastle and Villa showing more ambition than us on the pitch, top 6 would be over performing.

Well, the club has made significant investments in the squad already; and have many top players - the problem for Spurs has always been keeping players fit.

Spurs could sign 5 world class players - but it makes no difference if they can't stay fit.

If Vicario, VDV, Romero, Madisson, Kulu, Porro, Solanke are fit and available for all league fixtures we are for sure a 'Top 4' team. We managed 5th even with some injuries to them.

Frank has never had to juggle multiple competitions and deal with player rotation.

Fans have very different relationships with their clubs. Some want to lift trophies, some just want an emotional connection, some want to see a certain style and flair, some just want to meet their mates for a few beers and a bit of escapism. But we can all agree... if Frank or whoever the manager is wins a lot of games then he'll be adored... lose a lot and everyone will be angry. This has always been the case at any club at any time. Whilst I'm not convinced Frank is going to deliver success (and again I realise success differs for all of us), we have to back him and see how he goes.

Enjoy the summer everyone and I'll catch up with you all in August.

C'mon Muvvafukkas C'mon - make a bloomin' announcement.

If they don't announce soon, I'm posting another Thomas rapping vid - this is a threat.

Top ten... we should be challenging top four minimum.
5th for Ange in his first season, according to some, if not most, was a failure, because people then said if not for the first 10 games, we would be much lower. So when league standings come into debate, people will use performance as the argument point. It's obvious now that people are lowering expectations for Frank in his maiden league standings for us but they will deem performance will be greatly improved. We shall see. He will need LOTS of luck to escape injuries juggling 4 competitions. And I hope he does, being the likely manager for us, because Levy will be cheapskate again in backing any manager.

Similar to your 4th / 5th point there isn't much between us in 5th and Woolwich and Liverpool especially with CL football. It's only really Man U and Man City that are way ahead of us.

Netherthelees a good debate Paul I think we can end it here. A group of fans including yourself are happy to make next season a free hit but there will be another group myself included not willing to accept a transition season.
All good mate, we can certainly agree that we have different view points. I enjoy the respectful debate.
Tough gig to come into, having to overcome 4 richer, more established teams and 2 stable well functioning teams. But I'm sure we can both agree that we'd be very happy with top 4 👍🏻

Its a very low bar right now. Fewer than 22 defeats? Progress. More than 2 home wins from November and that 4-1 v Villa? Progress. Managing to beat a team 300 places below in the tables? Progress. Not conceding 6 at home? Progress. Not conceding 5 away? Progress.

See, Frank has an easy job.

it was

we smashed Villa 4-0 away. They have a small squad and their CL and PL battles were too challenging.

But they still beat us to 4th as we lost 5 out of the last 7. Could only beat relegated teams from then on. Despite having played the fewest games in a season that I could remember (41).

If he'd set us up to play some of those like we did Man City we'd have walked it.

I'd have been pleased as punch if he'd been booted at the end of all that lot.

I know, right? Given the injuries, and the focus on the cups last season, 17th is not that much worse than 10th, especially as we were never in danger of going down.

If Frank is such a better manager than Postecoglou then he should be getting a lot more out of the squad, not achieving basically the same.

17th not much worse than 10th is like saying losing 9-0 is not much worse than losing 1-0
Have some pride.

Karen Gillan I think?
If it's not then theres another one for the Frank Bank
Fair enough, but that's not how your posts come across. I'm not the only one that feels like you poo-pooed our win and the supporters' reactions. And posting THAT picture was pretty low IMO.
Anyway, let's hope that the new guy, whoever he is, gets the team performing to a better level in all competitions.

How people choose to "take" my posts is often more about them than me.
The written word does not often convey context.

As for the picture

Didn't win the Euromillions again last night - feeling like a Brentford fan again :(
Woke up (04.47am) to an email from the lotto saying to login as I'd won.
I've had this email a few times recently, £50, £5 etc.
But it wouldn't let me login. Kept saying "sorry we're enable to log you in right now"

I'm getting nervous now. Have I won? Is it something different from the norm?
I carry on as normal and get ready for work and get on the train. Finally it let's me in.

£4.60
Four pound fucking sixty.

Like a slap in the face with a rancid kipper, isn't it?

Anyone else had a call from TF, asking if they'd like to join the team?
He wanted me to be Head of Gimps. I told him thanks, but no thanks. I'm a bit busy over here atm.

Are you sure you’re a Spurs fan?

I get El was fantastic. But this idea that there’s no/ little difference between getting battered every weekend and doing well in the league isn’t what a fan of any football club would say. Will you abstain from any discussion on matches once it’s clear we likely won’t win the league and won’t get relegated? Or just chip in that you don’t care if we lose ?
Like most on here, I want the new manager to do well. (Whoever that is. I see we still haven't announced Thomas Frank yet...)

I want Spurs to win every game, and to do so with flair and panache, to boot. But no football team wins every game. Sometimes you have to proritise certain games and competitions, especially a team with limited resources like Tottenham.

Every successful team has had to mix steel with silk as well. You get no points for style in football, so winning ugly is fine on occasion too.

Finally you usually need a generous dose of luck, something Spurs have been woefully short of over the years. What was it Napoleon said? I'd rather have a lucky General than a brilliant one?

I thought Postecoglou seemed to embody that, and I think it was a mistake to sack him. I just hope Thomas Frank (or whoever) can hit the ground running, and next season is better than either of the last two, otherwise what was the point in sacking Ange?

17th is not that much worse than 10th,
you're not a fan

you certainly dont go to the Lane.

Are you one of those Shopping Mall shuffle guys who spends Saturdays with the Missus, getting home in time for Sports Report and the results.

Tell that to fans who go. The team in 10th, BFC, won half their home games. Inc NUFC, BHA, CP, AFCB, MUFC, draws with MCFC, CFC. We got ONE win out of that lot. ONE!

With that form our home games would have been full houses.
