Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

That was the problem. Everything centered around the manager and his style of play. I don't think Postecoglou built pride in Spurs as much as loyalty to him and a player/manager bond.
It definitely felt at times like Ange got a bit too caught up in proving that his football could work against the best rather than focusing on just winning. We had to win a specific way.

That type of risk, isn't something we associate with at Tottenham.
Under the set up, no chance would we ever be trying to chase those type of signings.

Different model to us but agree.

It's very bold on their part, and within it they need to identify another Van Dijk to lead them once he retires.

But marker being laid down. Will take some stopping next season me thinks.

City's approach is slightly different.

Liverpool, Woolwich and city will play out tbe title challenge.
Everyone else is playing for fourth and down, which at the moment is the norm.

Not sure where he gets his info from or how accurate it is...
PS! I am not saying this is the case with Frank but sometimes it's stipulated in the contract of departing head-coaches that they can't take any players from their old club with them to their new club.

Good relations are nice but Manure will offer him 250k pw and we will offer 180k max

From a PR perspective, if they aren’t going to match his wage offer, don’t even bother trying because the last thing we need to do right now is lose out in a transfer battle with the team we just beat in the EL Final.

Wages Trump CL football and friendships with previous coaches

Whatever football you are talking about, it didn't. Hopefully in Postecoglou's next job and if faced with similar challenges, hr shows the requisite capacity to adapt, if indeed he and his coaching team have it within them.

Clutching at straws. Levy will take all summer to negotiate a fee and his terms wont be good for Mbuemo. United will offer almost 200k.

Mbuemo, like Cunha said he doesnt mind a project, so isnt fussed about lack of CL.
There is no project at United. They are both only going there for the money just like Ugarte, De Ligt, Casimero, Sancho and all that came before them.

Money talks. Only one player has improved since signing for United in the last 10 years - Bruno Fernandes. Its been an absolute graveyard for talent. No player is signing for them because they believe in their project. Its purely for financial reasons and the PR of being a Manchester United player.
