There is no project at United. They are both only going there for the money just like Ugarte, De Ligt, Casimero, Sancho and all that came before them.

Money talks. Only one player has improved since signing for United in the last 10 years - Bruno Fernandes. Its been an absolute graveyard for talent. No player is signing for them because they believe in their project. Its purely for financial reasons and the PR of being a Manchester United player.

bit unfair, Man united is still a super massive club. It's still going to be a real draw and honour to get to say you were a united player.

Yeah the PR of being a Man United player is huge and a lot of these players might have been Man United fans as kids so they will forever have a massive pull.

But if you take away the financial gain from them paying excessively high wages then no agent in the world would advise their players to join Man United. They are a proven graveyard for talent and there is no actual project/rebuild going on. Just a new manager spending big money on players to suit his system and the cycle repeats itself every 2 years. They are too big to rip it up and actually do a rebuild from the floor up.

Any other club in their situation (bar Chelsea) would stop spending big money, sell the players on crazy wages and start rebuilding through young players like Mainoo, Yoro, Garnacho and Amad. Accept being average for a few seasons with a proper long term plan. But United can't do it. Their fans demand the big signings and short term solutions which might get them a cup or top 4 but ultimately sets them back further long term. They haven't committed to any rebuild since Ferguson left. Ole was the closest when he sold Lukaku and built a team around a front 3 of Rashford Martial and Greenwood. But then United couldn't help themselves and went and signed Varane and Ronaldo to try speed up the rebuild and it all fell flat on their face again.

its such a massive entity that if they had competent people in charge they'd never be outside of the top 3.
fortunately for everyone else they've been run like a clown college. But yes the pull remains, and will do so for awhile

Good relations are nice but Manure will offer him 250k pw and we will offer 180k max

From a PR perspective, if they aren’t going to match his wage offer, don’t even bother trying because the last thing we need to do right now is lose out in a transfer battle with the team we just beat in the EL Final.

Wages Trump CL football and friendships with previous coaches
What makes you think that? They've already gone big on Cunha, almost 3 weeks since Mbeumo approach surfaced and no second bid reported, I think United are going to wait and see if they can shift the likes of Sancho and Garnacho before they dedicate funds to replacing them. If we are given time early in the window where United can't act but we can, I think we can steal a jump on them and bring Mbeumo here before they're in a position to compete for his signature. If Spurs are offering you £180k with bonuses right now, and United are telling you "if we can sell X player to Y club we will bring you in after", are you hanging on to see if anyone is stupid enough to take Rashford's £350k/week wages off their hands or are you taking the offer that immediately quadruples your salary?
The latest players linked to Utd are Gyokeres and Ekitike, both #9s, I wouldn't at all be surprised if Cunha/Mbeumo was an either/or for United and they've pulled out of the Mbeumo deal having secured their preferred target also. Amorim largely seems to play 3-4-2-1 at Utd and Bruno is a shoe-in for one of the AM spots, so you fancy Cunha will take up the other with a new #9 going up front.

I hope you are right

I think they have to wait now. They were signing Cunha and Mbeumo with the assumption that they were going to sell Bruno to Saudi for 100m. That is no longer happening so being 120m down on 2 transfers without selling anyone is very risky business. I think they'll have to wait for outgoings.

Also there is a chance they could prioritise Gyokores over Mbeumo now that Bruno is staying. They've definitely stalled the Mbeumo talks anyway after the initial bid was rejected. Huge chance for Spurs to hijack if we really wanted him and were willing to match United's terms. I still think Spurs are prioritising Eze unless Frank can convince them otherwise.

I just don't think Mbeumo makes sense for them at this stage unless they're changing formation next season, their options at 9 are truly fucking horrific, I would honestly rather have Richy and Scarlett as our forward options than Hojlund and Zirkzee, and Mbeumo is not a 9, the gap between e.g Garnacho and Mbeumo vs the gap between Hojlund and Gyokeres/Ekitike, it's not even a comparison, their need for a striker is much clearer than their need for a wide forward.

Do let Amorim know.

Totally agree. Signing both Cunha and Mbeumo only made sense if they were selling Bruno. Otherwise I struggle to see a formation where they can get their 4 best players on the pitch together at the same time (Bruno, Amad, Cunha, Mbeumo) without moving 2 of them out of position. They all want to play in them two 10 roles. Moving Cunha/Mbeumo to the 9, Bruno into a deeper midfield role or Amad to full back would just make them players lose faith in the manager.
