Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think we pass on Tel who needs too much development to bring in a more experienced player able to hit the deck now for goals/assists etc.

If we can get a decent fee for Son, then I think he goes and we buy as good as we can find, if money available.

But we have just hired a coach and his whole team who are renowened for player development?

And what is a good fee for Son? Also, who will pay it?
When you consider his age, the poor form he had last year, his wages etc and where he himself is likely to want to go.

Yes agree, that's exactly what I told my brother in law.
Other teams will sort themselves out, and eventually start to challenge again.

Others challenging yes,but when you get as close as they have (as we did a few years back), sometimes it just goes away from you.

I do think they will strengthen in the summer, and believe they find the missing striker-piece,but it just needs an injury to one of their 3 or 4 key players, and kaboom.

Their chance in the CL was last season as well. Next season's competition could be the hardest it's been for years
, in my opinion.

The irony to me, is you put Scholes in the middle and Lampard wide and we'd have looked better.
In general though, this is where I started losing interest in England. It became about star names all being squeezed into the 11 no matter what. Beckham, by this stage, was not much threat outside of corners and free kicks.
Then again, what other English right wingers were there?

With us likely to lose Son and given both Mbeumo and Semenyo are rumoured to cost circa £70m each, Mbeumo has to be first choice on the following grounds:

- a Frank favourite
- proven goal scorer and assists
- a clear better G/A return to Semenyo
- he’s a wide forward whereas Semenyo is more of a wide attacking midfielder
- Frank at Brentford played wide forwards as opposed to wingers

Knowing us, we’ll sign Semenyo 🤣
Both please

Yeah but those 9 goals were for Brentford.
FYI I love Richi. I think in certain games Frank will want him in the team
If you have to keep explaining the Brentford handicap to people, they're not worth talking to.
I had to stick one of them on my ever lengthening ignore list last week as he genuinely believes that what Frank did with Brentford is the peak of what he can do. IE 9th.

I'm very pro youth development, that's why I started the youth thread - but also want to balance that up with players able to perform now.

Up front we have 18 year olds Moore and Yang, and a couple younger to come through. Tel has done nothing much to impress - despite Tel being 2 years older than Moore I'm not convinced he is much better now, other than maybe physical development which can change quickly at age 18/19. My guess is that 2026/27 Moore will be a far better player than Tel as Moore will have physically developed, 2025/26 Moore is still developing.

Son may be good for another year - but more a once a week player rather than weekend, mid week etc. So if we get a big fee for him (lets say £50m + I think he goes and we try to replace at say £80m. Whether that happens is a total unknown.

But we cannot afford to find ourselves with a Tel with no goal/assist output as he showed this season, a declining Son, a developing Moore and an ever injured Richarlison making up half our forwards.

Hence not taking up the option on Tel but finding a more experienced forward able to deliver now, with Son's future I think in the balance (stay or go) and needing to replace Richarlison. That then allows us to further develop Moore and others without undue pressure as well s having a set of decent forwards for now,

Mate just about every manager in the world will want Richy in the team.

It’s not about whether we want him to play it’s whether he can play.
I think I'd give you that most managers in the world could at least see the benefit of having a Richarlison on the bench, he is the kind of player you dream about being able to bring on in a tight game where a goal from a low% cross can make the difference between losing or drawing/winning, but he has a woeful first touch, not the best dribbler, pretty strong but not overly fast, shooting leaves a lot to be desired at times, I don't think it's like he walks into any team in the world if he's fit and in form.

Collective headloss in here, funny reading tbh

I think ManU will be in 2 minds anyway - they are trying to reduce wage bill (Rashford, Anthony, Casemiro et al) and need several other players too, their squad is probably 2 years behind Spurs in terms of a rebuild. So I don't think they want to get into a bidding war with Spurs on transfer fee or wages, as that handicaps the rest of their rebuild - Ratcliffe isn't going to allow them to bid up on every player after forcing out the likes of Rashford on £345k pw.

So one of us will get Mbuemo, the other quite possibly Semenyo or Eze or ....
