So if Tel is definitely joining I think we need to see movement on Richarlison leaving (Everton ?) or maybe Son before we see another incoming forward.
Currently our forward options are Solanke, Johnson, Odobert, Tel and Moore (Yang almost certainly out on loan ?) ...... plus Son and Richarlison.

Tbh i thought Tel was starting to prosper last few games of season.
It's what we are , best just to make Peace with it.
we either spend 30 to 40 mil on kids with potential in they hope they develop into big players
Or we spend 40 to 60 on the best stars in mid to lower table teams.
I'd love us to go out and get oshimen, tapsoba, Nico Williams , and Douglas Luiz and show we serious but we aren't really.
We need a top striker. Natural goalscorer. Like rocking horse shit atm but we need one to rival solanke.
It's way too easy for people to write players off before they've even really gelled or hot going. Signed him when he was 19 had hardly played any football during the season. 20 year old kid who has enough quality to be worth rolling the dice on.
20 years old, it may or may not work out but the ability to develop is clearly there with some time, coaching and hopefully a good spell in the team once he's properly up and running

Last couple of games showed a few glimpses of quality and picture passes. Still a long way to go with him but hes only 20. Worth buying imo.
The club doesn’t seem to mind spending a lot on a young talent they really rate (£40m on Gray, £50m on Johnson, now Tel etc) but I wish they had this same mentality when it comes to the £70m, £80m, £90m and up players. I’m sure on some level it’s because they can get youngsters to accept our wages but damn.
I know they supposedly just made that Mbeumo bid but be honest, do you expect the club to go back at £75-80m if the bid gets rejected? I know I don’t.

Spending 40ish mil and 100k pw on wages on another unproven kid is better than splashing 70m + 250k on a guy who's been there & done it at the top level.
That's what big clubs that want to compete on all four fronts do.
City, Pool, Bayern, Real, Inter, PSG, Barca, Woolwich, Newcastle...their defenders are shaking in their boots.

tel's def a punt but he's not a bad bet. my french friend was very high on him prior to him coming here and i thought he showed flashes last season especially towards the end. not just another n'jie type. and i think he's just the type of forward frank can develop into a top player.
Good buy that....... Coming here just to be depth is a hard sell though.
Esp. cos playing for Simeone is most defender's dream gig.

Signing Solanke for crazy money was a mistake. He can be a squad player, but not good enough for a CL team.
Wouldn't say no, but rainbows' end product is pure Gold!
