Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Eriksen and Son were significant outlays in their time. They also had proved themselves at major european clubs, were established internationals and their countries best player by the time the moved to Spurs.

Its incomparable to Tel, Kinsky, Bergvall, Gray etc...
Not really. Eriksen was 12m cos his contract was running down. He’d also been passed over by the likes of City and other big clubs because of his perceived lack of physicality. Son was 22m and was a decent price, but again he was a kid and it took him a year to acclimatise.

We used to have prime Son, Kane, Eriksen and Alli. Where's the ambition?

Where are the bids?

Kane was a kid from the academy. Erikson was a cheap punt when we missed out on Willian IIRC, and Dele...........only cost five mil.
I guess £20m for Son in 2015 was a fair amount of us.
But ask yourself, where was the ambition with those players when we signed them

For what its worth, I don't think we are actually in for Mbeumo.

We were in negotations with Brentford for the last 2 weeks and I think one of the arrangements made was that we'd show interest in Mbeumo just to drive the United price up. United were refusing to go beyond 60m and I think our false presence in the saga will make United go to 70m. Thats just my view on it. Only opimions, no itk info or anything! Mbeumo has agreed all personal terms with United and we've clearly done none of that. If we were serious about hijacking him then we'd have all that done and Frank would know after one 5 mins phone call if Mbeumo is coming or not.

We aren't intersted. Eze is our prime target with Semenyo as back up plan. We just done Brentford a big favour and I'm sure Levy used it as leverage to squeeze a few pennies off the compensation. United will pay the 70m and think they won a transfer battle which never existed.

Son had 5 successful seasons in the bundesliga with Leverkusen and Hamburg. He played 159 games scoring 48 goals. He had 52 caps already for Korea before joining Spurs.

Eriksen was Ajax's main man before he joined us. He played 160 games for Ajax, 30 of which in the Champions/Europa League. He had 49 caps for Denmark.

Those 2 transfers are the equivalent of Bentancur and Kulusevski, Vertonghen and Aldeirwerald, Romero....not Bergvall, Gray, Tel, Kinsky, Odobert etc...

The latter being very inexperienced and mostly teenagers.

We need to get back to buying players aged 23-25 that are ready to push on to being 1st team regulars in the prem.

David Pleat first scouted Son when he was at Hamburg. The number of caps he had for South Korea not really much of an indicator of anything as South Korea is not a top league or national team.

Eriksen had good experience when we bought him - but it was from the Netherlands, then as now not regarded as a top league, nor Denmark a top national team.

I've given you as close a like for like players - but Kane for example gained the title of 'one season wonder' and even season when he made his first PL start (under Sherwood - scoring in his first 3 PL starts) there were plenty demanding he be sold, even when he started scoring.

So nothing wrong with what we are doing now. Better than buying Ndomble and Lo Celso as 'established' players. What we are doing now is to buy a selection of both younger and more established players.

First priority is probably ensuring we can sell a few layers to create space for incoming players, so I'm hoping for news on the likes of Bissouma, Richarlison and Son as well as incoming players, a number of whom I expect to be experienced 23 - 27 year olds,

Any chance you could a) stop making shit up and b) stop posting entirely

Cheers,
Everyone.

Its better than the Swedish league mate.

Like I said, Son had 120 odd bundesliga appearances. Is that a farmer league too?

Blinkered.

Please tell me this isn’t true.

Tottenham join the race for Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford

I’m having an operation tomorrow, maybe I shouldn’t wake up from the general anaesthetic
Nah agents just make stuff up to drive interest up. Very easy to ring a media source and get them to write whatever you like. We saw Sane's agent do the same thing. Same with Grealish and Rashford now.

We don't pay players over 200k a week so that rules out all of them options.

I would have to say that as a rule no one should believe a single they read until it is actually confirmed by someone who is extremely trustworthy.

We are linked to hundreds of players every window, and 98% of links are nonsense.

Agreed - I'm amazed people get themselves in a tizz as much as they do with transfer rumours. Social media accounts are set up to demand clicks and reactions to generate money. Most of them are fairy tales. There are probably 3 or 4 journos to 'trust', or at the very least pay attention to - imv that is Ornstein, the tap in Merchant Romano, Laurie Whitwell & Ben Jacobs.
