Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Generally I agree. But a Grealish with a point to prove for a season chi be a weapon
Yea could be that way but it's a hell of a gamble. City rarely make mistakes getting rid of players (Alvarez being the exception but he wanted more game time so they could do little about it) so I would steer clear. It'd be a very expensive deal even for a loan. When we don't have a huge amount of cash we can't afford to take gambles that big imo

What an irony that a poster with name of Defoe talking bad about a striker being diminutive o_O 🤷‍♂️

He is 1.75m not as bad as some of the best strikers in PL in terms of height.

His ball striking is actually very good - No clue where you got that from

When I watch the video you post, thing that stands out is his linkup play and movement to get into the space and good ball striking. And now, I look at the Fbref, its essentially the same, passing is his strongest point so are his progressive carries. Something both Solanke & Richarlison lack. Goals & assits - ofcourse he has that plenty for his age and experience and time on pitch
Defoe had Crouchy or Kanoute to do his hold up play for him. When football moved to one up front he found it much harder. Although he did adapt eventually and was pretty good as a lone striker for AVB. But there is a reason all teams want a physical hold up man these days.

Just think he might get eaten alive by PL defenders. No real physical superpower to lean on in tough times. Mind you I thought Evanilson looked similarly small and not that super pacey, and he did well last year.
Aguero was like an inch shorter than Kalimuendo as well and dealt well with the prem. Wissa is the same height as Kalimuendo as well.

In the right system a smaller striker can operate quite well.

I get your thinking, but come on now...Ange got sacked cause he's a shit manager who lost 22 PL games <<insert other horrible records>>
But he won Europa.

I dunno mate. Put it this way, if it was another manager that lost 22 games but won Europa and agreed to the transfer strategy i think they would have kept him on and justified it by saying "yeh but he won a cup and we are prepared to give him another season". He lost 22 games AND publically stated the transfer strategy was a mistake and they would have to do things differently.

Jermain Defoe was a lot quicker and his ball striking has a good argument for top 5 all time in Premier League history (him, Aguero, Kane are my top 3)

Please stop. This is not another Jermain Defoe. From what I can tell this player’s best trait is his hold up play and how the fuck will he use that at 5’8”?
What a load of nonsense.

Your entire thesis is based on one video… don’t forget that 😂

You have made a lot of assumptions
1. “Defoe was a lot quicker” - did you measure both ??? Nope. It’s your “eye analysis” of a 6 min video

2. “His best trait is hold up play”. - pardon me, if his strength is hold up play, then why do you care he is diminutive. I mean, if he can hold up well inspite of him being diminutive, shouldn’t that be a positive then???.

What you should do stop is trying to pass judgement based on your first view of 6 min video.

Aguero is one of the greatest strikers of his era and played most of his City career in a City side who had all the ball so didn’t have to hold it up.

Wissa is not the tallest but he is built like a tank. This guy might be good, but it will be super tough for him.

Point is not whether he is small or big . You can be Darwin Nunez like built and be utter shit in front of goal in PL

When did physical look became a yard stick for PL football ?

Only thing that matters is, their goal output and how well they better the team.

He is a risk because he hasn’t played in PL . So that has to be evaluated with price . But writing him already ? Not for me

Because playing lone CF in the PL is incredibly physically demanding at the moment. There’s a reason why the likes of Woolwich, Chelsea, Liverpool, United are all fighting over the next big No 9.

Being a good finisher is no good if your team have no focal point and can’t move the ball up the pitch or relieve pressure.

The fascination with all these youth players is borderline pervy.
i get older matthew mcconaughey GIF

Yes it’s a big deal when you’re asking a 1.76cm #9 to be an outlet on long balls in the PL. this is very much valid information.

He’s not got a lot of pace, all these clips he’s getting caught from behind. Short area stuff is OK but he’s got stubby legs and isn’t a pace demon.

And what you say is correlated with height ? Or is it correlated with upper body strength ???

I would say its the later. The no9, who do well are ones who has upper body strength and not to be shaken off.

For me, if he is indeed shows strength in holdup play, and not be shaken off thats good enough.

And we already have tall strikers anyway. So, a mix of complimenting attributes is always welcome.

A 5’9” guy with good upper body strength is still gonna get ragdolled by the VVDs, Gabriels, and Ruben Diases of the PL. A strong big man beats a strong smaller man.

Anyway none of us have seen anything of this guy than a few compilations meant to make him look good, so it’s all speculative at this point, isn’t it?

Sorry mate but if Hercules said the sky was blue I’d go outside and expect it to be red

His ITK is worth absolutely fuck all. In fact Hercules saying this makes me much more confident that we won’t sign him
No bother mate, I'm a newbie around here so just trying to understand how things work with likes of this stuff. From what I know herc and trix from there are very hit and miss but if admin on here don't want it posted then that's no bother.
