Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Did we even put a fucking bid in?

How it started;
Eze
Mbeumo
Semenyo

How its going;
Tel
Manor Soloman back from his loan
And some geezer Danny Rose couldn't even find on Google

But Levy wants to win the league apparently....
schemes yes GIF

And 'Gentle' Ben Davies' contract extension :freund:

The Chairman’s own words are that we need to win the PL and CL,

That means we aren’t being unrealistic to measure this summer window against those goals?

In that case, what kind of window gets us in that picture?

IMO

Hato
Baleba
Simons/Eze
Semenyo/Mbeumo

That’s a baseline level of ambition for those targets

If Romero goes then we need a Tapsoba level CB to replace him as well

If the lizard really wants to win the league then he needs close that, 'players from mid table clubs' tab on his laptop and open up that elite tab. see how much its gonna cost in wages and ask himself does he really want to win the league

I mean at this point no-one ought to be believing the chairman's unrealistic expectation and BS, you probably need to set your expectations accordingly instead of tying yourself in knots and having a meltdown when your wishes don't come to fruition.

Eze had 16 goal involvements last year and Semenyo 17. Mbeumo obviously had an outstanding season in this regard, but did overperfom his xG quite a bit.

As you say, Semenyo is more of a dribbly winger than a pure forward, but his numbers are still good regardless. Also has an understanding with Solanke.
Yeah you could be right. Bournemouth finished 12th in the table with Semenyo and Solanke so I am uncomfortable with the idea of us spending 120m combined on them. But Semenyo's numbers are better than I thought. He's a better dribbler than mbeumo but Mbeumo has a far better end product. Eze is a better player than both IMO but he's best centrally and not sure we need another one of them.

Then why haven't Man City, Liverpool, Woolwich, Newcastle or Man Utd bought him already...?
Apparently that Eze release clause is a disaster and thats why nobody is going near it. Its only for CL clubs and I think there is nearly 10m on add ins included. Also nearly all of that 60m fee has to be paid upfront! No installments allowed.

Most teams write off big transfers over 5/10 years to keep in line with PSR so signing Eze is not an option. Spurs are probably the only club who can afford to do it and not breach the limits.

I know that you know Levy didn’t mean it

I know that you know that I know Levy knows he didn’t mean it.

But he did say it and he also said failure isn’t an option. Both of these he said when speaking on behalf of the club. That’s the standard to judge him and Vinny against now.

Whether they meant it or not is irrelevant.

Every transfer discussion now needs to be based on those targets

Wrong

Levy wants us to win the PL and CL.

We need to make signings like this to back up that ambition
There is many big clubs linked with him and most of them have much more pull than us.

Even if we were trying to be ambitious and get him, we probably wouldn't pay the wages other clubs are offering him, and chances are he'd prefer to go to another club over us. It was only a few weeks ago that people thought we would get Cherki. If a club like City wants you then they ain't choosing us over them.

I hope I'm wrong and that this transfer sets a new precedence. But every Summer we are linked with some big name player like this and it never materialises. This false hope that its going to be different this time. Bayern, City and Chelsea are all in for Simons too. Can't see us pipping any of them. Also Leipzig under no pressure to sell!

Which is why I said to close this thread when I saw all the usual bollox of people getting giddy when we were getting the usual early window links to the likes of Eze, Mbeumo, Semenyo...
The trouble with our fans is they never learn anything.

I've been saying that Frank has clearly been brought in because Levy believes he can work with the youngsters we have and turn them into world beaters.
He is as delusional as half our fan base.

This will drag on all window and by the end we will all be so desperate fans will lap up whatever shit we are given.
Same as every other ENIC window I can remember.
