Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

There is many big clubs linked with him and most of them have much more pull than us.

Even if we were trying to be ambitious and get him, we probably wouldn't pay the wages other clubs are offering him, and chances are he'd prefer to go to another club over us. It was only a few weeks ago that people thought we would get Cherki. If a club like City wants you then they ain't choosing us over them.

I hope I'm wrong and that this transfer sets a new precedence. But every Summer we are linked with some big name player like this and it never materialises. This false hope that its going to be different this time. Bayern, City and Chelsea are all in for Simons too. Can't see us pipping any of them. Also Leipzig under no pressure to sell!

Not interested in any of that, we are trying to win the PL and CL. We aren’t doing that with a defeatist attitude.

We are doing it by signing players like Xavi Simons. No matter what it takes.

Barca and Real are covered in LW/10. Only Bayern in Germany. Maybe only Woolwich and Chelsea in PL.
I donn’t think there’s that many options for him. Only top four leagues. Probably Italy is out wages wise. Only Barca and Real in Spain and they don’t need him. Bayern in Germany the only option and they seem to want a pacy LW. Probably only Chelse and Woolwich in the PL looking for a LW too.

I'm not sure if your taking the piss here or not lol

We brought in Thomas Frank as our manager who's best known for working off a low budget. If we didn't back the likes of Conte and Mourinho with big money signings and matching the wages of top cubs, then you'll be very naive to think that this is going to be the plan under Frank.

I'll bet my life that we don't sign one player in this window who will be earning wages above 200k a week. That means that we can't compete with other big clubs when targetting these players. These are just facts. We might change some day but it won't be this summer! Frank will be giving 3/4 signings max and we'll be very lucky if 2 of them cost more than 50m.

Which is why I said to close this thread when I saw all the usual bollox of people getting giddy when we were getting the usual early window links to the likes of Eze, Mbeumo, Semenyo...
The trouble with our fans is they never learn anything.

I've been saying that Frank has clearly been brought in because Levy believes he can work with the youngsters we have and turn them into world beaters.
He is as delusional as half our fan base.

This will drag on all window and by the end we will all be so desperate fans will lap up whatever shit we are given.
Same as every other ENIC window I can remember.

We don't need to close the thread, we just need grown adults not to behave like kids when we're linked to a player out of our range and the inevitable happens they throw their toys out the pram.

With those statements Levy has once again set himself up to look like a complete fool. The transfers of the last 5 years or so has got us close to relegation but now all of sudden he means serious business? Come on..

We also need a chairman who either doesn't make stupid comments about wanting to win the league, or puts his money where his mouth is

It's no wonder fans demand greatness when our chairman seems to demand it himself

Correct. In no way will we act like a big club. Levy can spout his pish all he likes but it’s empty words.

Apparently that Eze release clause is a disaster and thats why nobody is going near it. Its only for CL clubs and I think there is nearly 10m on add ins included. Also nearly all of that 60m fee has to be paid upfront! No installments allowed.

Most teams write off big transfers over 5/10 years to keep in line with PSR so signing Eze is not an option. Spurs are probably the only club who can afford to do it and not breach the limits.

Yeah it's fucked up, much more to it than meets the eye.

He should have been out of Palace by now, arguably the best player outside the top 6, homegrown, Prem proven, great character and an unbelievable talent and entering his peak - this is a Liverpool/City level signing.

That up front release clause is putting teams off I think.
